I searched for days for somewhere that would do a flea bath for kitties in Austin & thankfully found Plush Pad! This place took such good care of my cat Marceline, she is normally quite anxious around new people & she was completely fine with the plush pad employees. It was a calm & cozy environment and the shop owners are so sweet, you can tell they genuinely care about your animals.
They got me in same day that I called (actually picked up the phone!) and gave an extremely reasonable price for my sweet babies bath. I stayed in shop the whole time she was being taken care of & could tell she was in great hands. Can't recommend this place enough for your pets grooming! 10/10 will definitely be coming back :)

I've had only good experiences here. My dog is a Chinese crested powderpuff, and he has a double coat that mats just from existing in the air if you don't completely brush and comb him out every SINGLE DAY. Fortunately, I don't mind the "pony clip" which keeps him cool and mat-free in the warmer months (9 months of the year here.) He has hare feet meaning the quick in his toenails runs much closer to the tips, but the wonderful ladies at Plush Pad do a fantastic job of trimming his nails without ever clipping them too closely.
He loves coming here and getting lots of attention. I appreciate that it's open early in the morning and later in the evening so I can just swing by on the way to or from the office. And the price is reasonable. Thanks ladies :)

I cannot recommend Plush Pad enough! My cat, Nala, had horrible matting in her fur and I could not find anyone with availability sooner than a few weeks out. I did not want Nala to be in pain, I was panicking! I called Plush Pad and even though they too were completely booked, they said they could help me and squeeze me in SAME DAY. They treated Nala with such care.
She is a feisty cat and they still managed to get all her mattes out. And they didn't charge me an arm and a leg like other places might've. I could not be more grateful!

I scheduled my geriatric, pre-diabetic kitty for his first grooming, he's getting older now and lazy with cleaning himself, he had mats around his anus and it wasn't pretty. Sadly, he was too anxious and they couldn't get him out of the carrier, but they wanted to at least help with the mats so with my help they got him out and had me hold him while they trimmed and cleaned that area, and refused to charge me!
All while being so sweet, informative, and helpful. I have asked my vet for a prescription for some anti anxiety meds for him (per plush pad's recommendation), and will be re-scheduling for a full grooming as soon as I get them! I could already tell in the 5 minutes I spent in there they really care about animals and they did a great job with the trim even though he was squirming and trying to escape the whole time. I would add before and after pics but I don't think anyone wants to see that haha.

This place saved me. My vet usually did nail trims/sanitary trims for my cat but they were closed and she was getting a mess. She's a little difficult and so I was worried if they could do it but they did both with ease. They also gave me some good advice. I was in and out in under 20 minutes. 100% would recommend. Friendly, personable, and great with cats!

I had a great experience here. I took Lucyna (springer spaniel/poodle mix) in and let them know it was her first groom (6 months). They told me it would have been ideal to have been socializing her to grooming earlier and that while they would do their best, they weren't willing to force it if she was struggling. I felt super reassured by that because I really wanted Lucy to have a positive first experience and not be traumatized! Afterwards they said she did ok but struggled a little.
They weren't able to give her a full cut but she was bathed, brushed, and trimmed. They even gave her a bow and a bandana and a little toy for her first time! She didn't seem at all distressed when I picked her up. They recommended that I bring her back soon to just get a bath or something small, or even just to hang out and get used to it. Overall they were kind, open, and the prices were reasonable. I definitely intend to return.

Plush Pad has been great. We have taken our dogs for grooming here for several years. My previous rescue had a hard time trusting people. They were so gentle with him that over the years he build that trust with them. The owner took especial care and took her time with him from the beginning. He past away two years ago but was the only groomer I was willing to take him to.
And just about a year ago we adopted another rescue. We didn't know much about his history but I knew I could trust Plush Pad to take good care of him. Although he has been nervous going in, I am hopeful that with each experience he will get use to getting groomed. I have recommended several friends to them as well. They are understanding and wonderful to work with. They help put my mind at ease that my pet is cared for and will be in good hand. They do a great job.

We've taken our dog here a couple times and it was always okay. One time they made our doodle look like a Schnauzer, it was the worst haircut I've ever seen. My friends said she looked like an alien. I had to cut it again myself. But we're having trouble getting in elsewhere so I thought I would try this place one more time. After this groom she's been licking her legs and private areas nonstop, clearly in pain from nicks and razor burn. I'm having to put her in a cone to stop the excessive licking. I think this place takes more dogs than it can handle and in turn does a poor job. won't be coming back.

I claimed a severely matted stray cat from my neighborhood as my own. This beautiful little girl has years of mat on her thick long coat, limiting her movements and ability to go to the bathroom. She was caked with flea poop and frankly, her own poop. After she got her vaccinations, I started the hunt for a groomer willing to take this cat on as a client.
The cat was friendly enough, but frankly I was scared of how she would react during the surely hours long job it would take to remove years of disgusting mats (I swear, some were 4 inches tall on her back). I called Plush Pad after being turned down by several other groomers. I explained the situation to the front desk, who asked if I could speak to the owner, bcs taking on such a challenge would be her call. Sandra was so empathetic and understood the severity of the situation.
She offered to see us the immediately! Sandra and team were done in an hour, calling me throughout the process to let me know how she was doing. How they would handle her flea problems, that she was doing great. I was so scared how this poor animal would react to being groomed, but this team worked magic to make sure she was comfortable and happy throughout.
They sent her home with a catnip mouse, brand new collar and pink bow. I wish I had before pics of the nightmare this poor cat came in with. Little "Lily" is now an inside cat, and loves snuggling under blankets. Sandra truly cares for animals, and I'm so thankful I found them. Thank you to Plush Pad for taking on such a tough job, on extremely short notice, and getting this little girl happy and healthy!

We recently moved up north and needed a new groomer. We've taken our little Yorkie/maltese/Bestguess mix to Plush Pad twice now and couldn't be happier! She gets the best attention and care. Other groomers have tried to fit her into the box of one breed or another, but Plush Pad gives her a cut all unique to her that makes her shine. We love them!

Plush Pad did a wonderful job with our furry lil family member. After another big box groomer performed a hack job, we were very nervous about taking her to a groomer and her hair was very scraggly. Plush Pad restored our confidence in groomers and did an excellent job. Our dog looks so great and even seems like she feels great. Plush Pad also has a great set-up for drop-off and pick-up with COVID-19. Thank you, Plush Pad!

This was the first time I used Plush Pad for grooming. I have a 12 yr old Scottie that had only been groomed by 1 person - he retired. They (PP) were recommended by a friend. They were so professional and so personal at the same time. Having some health issues of my own, I was pleased to see them practicing social distancing and safe procedures. They listened to my Fur Baby's needs and did an amazing job. And I'm picky. I can not recommend them highly enough

Overall, I feel very uncomfortable with the way I was treated when I brought my cat in. I called a few days prior and spoke to Sandra, the groomer who handles cats. I asked her how much she would charge for a simple "sanitary cut." She explained that it would vary depending on the cat but would probably be around $20-$25. However, when I brought my cat in on Saturday, she quoted me $55 for a full bath that included the Sani-cut and $35 for the Sani-cut by itself.
The $35 pricing just made no sense to me whatsoever since that's over half the cost just for part of the full service. Sandra *insisted* that she would NEVER quote anyone less than $35 for a cat. It's not like I would make up the number, and I certainly wouldn't have made the drive out if I knew that price range. Sandra agreed to charge the price "I thought I heard" and had a bit of a nasty tone in her voice.
She announced "I KNOW how this goes" and even offered to take care of my cat for free. She talked about how she has groomed "the most cats in town." At this point, I'm very frustrated. 1) I wasn't asking for a free haircut so I let her know that I would be willing to pay the price she originally quoted me. 2) I felt really uncomfortable moving forward given her tone of voice and overall attitude, but I had already made the 20 min drive and wanted to get it over with.
I understand that every animal behaves differently, but there should be a clear base price range. Reading through some of the other reviews, it seems that other clients have experienced unclear pricing as well. Although Sandra was nice in the end and gave my cat a catnip toy (and an extra one for my other kitty at home), I felt icky for the entire day after what felt like a very hostile interaction.

I must of called at least five different dog grooming salons and no one would take my dog Junior until the following week because of how busy they were! Plush Pad as busy as they were, took my Junior without any hesitation and did an excellent job grooming him! Very friendly staff, hard working, and they provide superb customer service! Thank you Plush Pad!

One of the best grooming places I've gone to here in Austin. Granted, the others have been Petco and Petsmart. that being said, Plush Pad has given my little havanese fur baby the haircut meant for that breed. They are friendly, knowledgeable and truly take care of your dog/cat. They make it easy for you to do business with them. 10/10 recommend!

My pup looks amazing! Her wavy or curly hair looked like velvet--she literally looks like a show dog. They made her fur so fluffy and adorable, completely even cut all over. That's never happened! They took me for a same-day appointment, were very courteous and kind. I talked to the owner/groomer on drop off and she was very welcoming. I've been to Petsmart and Dirty Dog and this was the best groom we've ever received. My pup is a 12lbs Maltese and her full service groom was $73. Very comparable to the other shops. This is my new spot!

I am writing this review from the emergency vet waiting room. I brought my six month old schnauzer, Walter to Plush Pad since I read the review about this great schnauzer cut they did on another dog. Walter has been groomed a couple times before- at PetSmart, so I thought it was a plus that we were supporting a local business when he needed a haircut. First, I dropped him off at 8:30 am.
When I got there I mentioned to the groomer that he does get hot easily- so she said she could shave a little bit of his skirt to help with that. I agreed. I didn't hear from them until 2:30 pm, that he would be ready at 3:30. Okay, that's fine. At PetSmart his cuts never take more than 2-3 hours, but I figure they're a smaller shop so probably take a little longer.
I pick up Walter and the groomer is extremely apologetic. She had nicked him on his scrotum and he keeps scooting, clearly very stressed out. She doesn't charge me for the service, gives me a free collar, her cell phone number, and some benadrly lotion. I think Walter's just being a weenie- he's a puppy so kind of dramatic, and don't really think of it.
She was really apologetic so I almost felt bad for her, but she did say something about how she had never experience a response from a dog like this ins 40 years of business, and how maybe he needed to be tranquilized. I didn't really appreciate that in retrospect. We get home and he is screaming bloody murder. I use the benadryl lotion, give him actual benadryl, use some cooling gel, no avail.
He keeps crying and crying, to a point where I realize something is truly wrong. We go to the vet and Walter doesn't just have that one nick- he is almost raw around his tail, has razor burn all over his stomach and chest, and has large nicks in his armpit. He will be on pain medication for the next five days, and he is TRAUMATIZED. He hasn't slept through the night, has been crying non-stop for the past 12 hours, and went through a huge shaking fit from his anxiety. So, that's my two cents.
I will not be returning. I am sad that my effort to support a local business blew up in my face, but the safety of my puppy and his sanity is most important to me. I'm not even that mad about the emergency vet bill, but more that I'll spend the next week helpless while he's upset about his clipper burns and nicks, listening to him cry. As a dog owner, how would that make you feel?

Took my cat here once several years ago (pre-Yelp ubiquity); a recent neighborhood list serve discussion prompted me to recall that awful experience. When I picked her up I was gruffly informed that they nicked her when shaving her belly. They quoted me one price and charged me more at pick-up saying she was hard to handle and that they needed three people to hold her down.
As noted by another reviewer, the pricing structure was printed nowhere, leaving them the ability to increase the rates for reasons no customer can disprove. My cat was 15 years old at the time, weighed 8 pounds and was fully declawed, * i.e. hardly difficult to handle. I now go to Woof Gang in Westlake where she is in and out in 10 minutes and for much less.
But most importantly, she is treated gently and has never been nicked. I've watched her be groomed at Woof Gang and she is docile, as you might expect with an older cat with no ability to defend herself. Go somewhere else for cat grooming. Reading the other negative reviews reinforces that this place wants you to pay for them to manhandle and often cut your animals. *i adopted her from the shelter fully declawed. It was not a factor in my deciding to adopt her, and I do not condone declawing.

I decided to choose Plush Pad even though there are 1 star reviews here and there. I gave them the benefit of the doubt since they've been family owned and operated since 1973 - I am so glad I did! Since my first phone call to Plush Pad, I knew my cat would be in good hands. The person I spoke to over the phone was friendly and professional. When I came in to drop off my cat (I made the appointment a week in advance and dropped him off at 9:30 am, picked him up at 3:30 pm the same day), the woman who took him back was very nice.
She was upbeat and very welcoming to both me and my cat. I explained how I wanted my cat to be groomed and they did an amazing job! Everything was done better than I expected. They shaved his tail into a pom pom (like I asked) and everywhere else very neatly. Plush Pad even gave my cat a new catnip toy at the end of his appointment! Overall I am very happy that I found out about this place and I will be back.
