Services
In 1999, Barking Hound Village was founded on the simple promise that we will treat your dogs the same as we treat our own. Where most companies see a dog, we see your family members. Nearly 20 years later, we are now Atlanta's largest locally-owned dog services company and we are still delivering on this promise.
Our first location - conveniently nicknamed "the Village" - sits on the edge of the Morningside neighborhood and is an urban oasis for Atlanta's most active dogs. In operation since 1999, this dog daycare location has become a staple on the Cheshire Bridge / Piedmont Road corridor. Three large outdoor yards and an indoor play area at the "Athletic Club" means that dogs of all sizes and breeds are welcome. We offer a wide variety of boarding options, ranging from the more social, standard enclosures to luxury private suites.
Focused on your furry family member's comfort and joy, BHV's 20-plus years of experience plays into every decision for guests of all sizes. For example, all baths are completed by a seasoned groomer or a trained bather (most places just use a random employee and do a quick bath). Barking Hound Village also offers de-shed treatments catered to your pup's coat length and quality.
Our newest location - at the corner of E Piedmont and Sandy Plains Road, across from the LA Fitness - is an 8,300-square foot building custom-built for your furry family member's comfort and joy. Our 20 years of history and experience have informed every decision we made during build-out from the de-humidification HVAC system to the private suites for guests of all sizes.

Y'all are ridiculous. I understand you are running a business but you also need to have respect for your neighbors who are in the same vicinity. My BF has met with the manager and other employees about installing some sort of sound masking system or even big piece of plywood. Many people across the street have had to put up white noise machines on their decks. We are all working from home. INSTALL SOMETHING PLEASE! the barking and fighting is way too much.

The absolute worst experience of my life. Kept my dogs there for ten days when I had a family passing and had no other choice. They will not answer your phone calls or call you back. Very scary you won't know how your dog is doing. When they do talk to you, they are incredibly rude. Jacob, the manager, is such a mean person. Called me a bad dog father for leaving them there that long.
Then the last day, my sweet German Shepherd was HORRIFICALLY attacked by a brand new dog there. They don't even see if dogs are aggressive before they put them in with the rest. They didn't even take him to the vet, just waited for me to come get him. The vet said if it had been any longer they wouldn't have even been able to stitch him up.
Over $1000 in vet bills. The next day, they said they would contact me regarding the attack, never heard anything. So I go in, and Jacob says it's in the contract they won't do anything, no reimbursement, no discount or even an apology. I ask why they didn't even call to check up on him. He said he doesn't care about my dog or my problems, then starts yelling at me to leave. Literally screamed at me. DO NOT LEAVE YOUR BELOVED DOG HERE! They are the worst. Jacob should literally be let go, the rudest man I've met in my life.

Place is a joke. Phone is absolutely never answered, even when 3 people are at the desk. Live next to here and can hear dogs barking and fighting constantly. Big issue is they allow untrained puppies in for daycare that are dropped off 7 days a week so the owners don't have to train their dog or listen to barking.

I sent my dog Sunny here for several months before I moved to NYC. The only negative thing I have to say about them is that they set such a high expectation for a dog daycare and boarding place! They have great prices, very friendly staff, and truly made me and my dog feel like a part of their community. They really make you feel welcome and take great care of the dogs. Sunny always had a blast there and likely didn't even miss me when i left him there! I only wish I could find another daycare as good (and reasonably priced) as them!

I cannot recommend Barking Hound Village Lofts enough. The staff is super friendly and always excited to see my dog when I bring her in. Whenever there is an issue with my dog while being boarded there, the staff handles it with great care and professionalism. I get pics and little reports on her good behavior all of the time. I'm always happy to visit this location for any boarding or daycare needs.

I am very picky when it comes to who I leave my dog with while I'm out of town. Barking Hound Village has never given me a reason to stress about how he's doing. The staff is so kind, they send little report cards everyday complete with a photo (or two!) and best of all, my dog loves it here (he doesn't even look back when they start walking him to the back anymore). I recommend this place to all my friends.

Can't say enough about how great the team at BHV Lofts has been! Our pup is pretty high-strung and can get anxious around new dogs and people, but he loves coming here. The BHV team takes great care of him and is super communicative - they really take the time to get to know each dog and their personalities.

I chose this doggy day care from others because they are the only ones (that I could find) that gives you the first day free for evaluation. I think they do it to see if the dog integrates well with the other dogs and to see if you, as owner, like the service. My dog needed 2 evaluation days as she was little too nervous the first day. After those 2 days, everything worked out fine and I would attribute that to the staff making sure she was comfortable.
I have never seen the inside or how the kennels look, but there are webcams to the patio(s) that you can access to watch your dog. I think that beyond allowing the owner to enjoy watching their dog it speaks out to transparency as they commit to take care of the dogs the way owners would be pleased. Having said that, I give 4 stars only due 2 minor issues my dog has experienced. 1. after one day my dog came back very stinky, dead animal smell, or old poop smell.
So bad that I had to give her an emergency shower late night. And 2, I've noticed (webcams) my dog is put to play with medium size dogs while she's been considered a large dog (70lb husky mix) and the reason this is a concern to me is bc she doesn't seem to find an adequate playmate among smaller dogs so I've seen her just sit and walk around when in the patio instead of playing and running (she loves to run).
This becomes an "issue" (minor) because when I bring her back home she's full of energy like On the positive side my dog seems to be pleased to go there as she walks inside without resisting.

Finding the right place for our fur baby was not easy. There seem to be tons of options in the area, and we tried quite a few, but Barking Hound Village has been the best. The grooming services are top notch, the staff is friendly and treat our dog like he's family, and being able to pop online and see Denver through the webcam has been wonderful. I am so happy that we found Barking Hound Village and I highly recommend them at any of their locations!

My pup is only 5lbs, and at first I was nervous about bringing her in here. She visited for the first time a couple of weeks ago, and the staff was welcoming and made us feel comfortable. She's only been to day care 2 or 3 times, and one night of boarding, but every time I come in, they are familiar with my pup, and have taken very good care of her! Great experience so far!

This is hands down the worst daycare I have had my dog attend. If you watch the cameras at this location at all, you will understand why, but I've summarized my experiences below. Actual Playtime: Your dog is "phased in/out" with different groups and is kept in a kennel for the times that he/she is not playing outside. There was a day that my dog was outside playing for a total of 2 hours during an 8 hour day!
Not only does this cause a dog anxiety, it is a waste of money. Employee Behavior: I witnessed an employee throw a bucket of water that she filled up INTO my dog's face while he was playing in a group of 4-5 other dogs. I happened to be taking a video of this incident. I was also told by my Vet Tech that used to work at this location that there was a puppy left outside in 30 degree weather overnight because they "forgot" about him. Luckily this puppy was okay, but the owner was NOT notified about this. Timeout: If your dog is acting out, which happens to almost every dog, they will be put in timeout for what they tell you is "5 mins" but I watched them leave my dog in timeout for over 30 mins.
During this time, my dog could stand to see the other dogs playing and he was in a surrounded wooden gate area. Management: I called the management team to address these issues and they assured me they would "look into" this and call me back. Sure enough, I called back to look into this, and followed up with multiple emails with no responses. Overall: I have tried multiple daycares in the area as each have different things to offer, and this is by far the WORST.
Not only did this cause my dog anxiety and trauma but it took him awhile to be comfortable in a daycare again. If you do choose to send your dog here I urge you to watch the cameras closely.

WORST PLACE TO LEAVE YOUR DOG! My 1&1/2 year old pit bull came home today, traumatized and scared. His eyes were swollen and blood shot! Scabs all over him and in his ears. And they said "if they got in a fight we would've called" his lips were chapped and have skin falling off. Please please please if you love your dog. don't leave them with these people!

We have taken our puppy Sadie to Barking Hound Village 2-3 days a week for doggy daycare since February, and have nothing but positive things to say about it. The prices are much more reasonable than other facilities, and is open later than most daycares which is nice for evening plans or unexpected late nights at work. There is an online camera for the play area, and pictures are posted on their Facebook page every day.
She always leaves happy and tired from playing with her pals! The staff is friendly and courteous, and gives us updates on Sadie's progress since she was quite shy when we started bringing her. We've boarded her once, and had such peace of mind knowing she was in good hands and staying somewhere that she felt comfortable. It's always a little nerve wracking leaving your pup, but rest assured they'll be well taken care of at Barking Hound Village!

Amazing! Never boarded a dog before and super reluctant to leave my "Homer" for 9 days in an unknown environment. Was referred to Barking Hound Village by a happy customer I met at the dog park. Called ahead and had someone extremely nice patiently walk me through everything. Signed up online with all info, and was happy it was so easy. Booked it. Was recommended to me by staff to bring him in for one free day to get acclimated.
He did great, enjoyed the social area, his pen, and the staff. He got a report card too! When I picked him up after the 9 days I'd been gone, he was clearly super happy there. No anxiety. Ate well, played well. Front desk staff always super complimentary of him and take time to notice things. Will always plan to board here.

Absolutely terrible. I've been going here for years and the place has really declined. I only kept going because my more anxious pup knows the place. Well, this last time a transporter was picking them up to drive them over 12 hours, and despite overcommunicating everything they needed to give the transporter (which I put in a single huge bag), they still didn't give back their beds or treats, so the dogs had to lie on a hard floor the whole trip and now have no where to sleep and nothing they would eat.
On top of it the manager is completely non-responsive and he got someone else who works there to lie about claiming to gave given the beds back (Which I know for a fact they didn't). This is the biggest dissapointment in a long pattern. Avoid unless you want your pups to be poorly treated.

So we had very mixed feelings about doggy daycare. Now we will never bring our dog back here again. First time we boarded him they fed him half of what he should have been fed and I know because I measured exactly what he would need to be fed the whole time and got half the food back! So they say sorry and blah blah blah. We decided to take Winston to daycare and every time he left with something. Kennel cough, red feet, smelling of dog pee, etc etc. this past Tuesday we took him and when he got home he had infected red feet.
I emailed them to make sure he got breaks and they said yeah he did and they told me that he couldn't have gotten infected/burned feet and nails to the quick from daycare. We went to the vet and $190 later we got antibiotics and liquid for his feet. Oh and the vet asked if the daycare at least gravel or some type of rock. BINGO.

Read all policies before boarding! I have been taking my dogs here for several years. I went to pick them up today after a one night boarding and incurred a "day care fee" and after questioning found out it was due to a new policy that was implemented where you need to have you dog out within a four hour window of what time the dog was dropped off.
So for example.if you drop off at 0800 AM Saturday. if you pick them up the following day on Sunday at 100pm (when they open) you get a charge. I clarified that with the person checking me out and he confirmed this to be true. I am disappointed and will most likely take them to another facility as this was not disclosed. I checked on their website and this is not stated on their pricing, however it was listed on a link at the bottom of a page. I do believe they get good care here and the cameras (although not the best quality) make me feel better knowing my dog is getting outdoor time.

Where do I even start? BHV (Village location) has been my saving grace. Working long hours in the city and not being able to go home during lunch, I need an extra pair of hands (in this case, multiple sets!) to feed my dog and exercise her. Matt (Manager), Jan, Winona, CC (is now manager at the Inn), have all been stand-out. I am sure there are additional staff members who provide my Lily with excellent service -but have not met.
I love this daycare because they take the dogs out hourly and they "socialize." It's like a little dog party. I also pack Lily's lunch, and they ensure she gets it. They are just awesome people all-around. They do not get enough credit for all that they do! On Washy Wednesdays, you receive $5 off your grooming service if they are there for daycare! My little Lily gets so excited to see her "friends" here. I appreciate all that they do!

My pup Rufus and I love this place! While I'm away at work or out of town, I know Rufus is having a blast with his dog friends running around outside, playing in the wading pool, and posing for pictures. They post pictures on Facebook daily and their doggy cams online pretty much always work so you can rest assured your pup is enjoying his or her day.
I find their rates to be very reasonable, and they are very accommodating. Added bonus: there's a sprouts nearby in one direction and a publix in other, can't beat the convenience factor there.

Not super impressed with this place. My dog always smelt like pee when I picked him up, staff was friendly depending on the day. Just got a weird vibe when I would drop my dog off for the day, and after the 3rd or 4th time he just acted like he didn't want to go back. We won't return. I trust my dogs instincts.

Barking Hound Village is the best! Atlantans love their dogs around here, and I'm not alone in feeling like only the best will do when it comes to my dog. BHVillage provides that level of service. It's run by a friendly staff who always make you feel comfortable leaving your dog, which can be tough! (Manager Matt is great). I am so grateful to have such a top quality option for my dog.
Owner David York has a huge heart for animals and it shows in the way all these facilities are run. Everyone I know takes their dog there as well. Guess that's why they are voted Best doggy daycare in Atlanta year after year! They earn it.

We just brought our dog for a test day and can canceled the booking right away for the next week. Upon arrival they took out dog right away and brought him inside. They did not even offer a tour. After asking we were allowed to see the premise. We thought our dog is already outside to play - no. They put him in a VERY small cage a few they'll let him run later.
There were too many dogs! They were all barking and were not relaxed at all! We picked him up three hours later - at least we was outside for a while. But when we canceled the nights and told her our concerns she did not care at all! We now drive a couple of miles more and bring him to Camp Bow Wow. Had him once in Tampa there for a night - and they were just great!
They take care of your dog and learn about him during his first visit. They write down everything and give you a full feedback! Barking Hound Village don't care! It looks to me just like a better shelter.

Since this last visit at Barking Hound Village, my dog has been vomiting every day. I know it's from the dog food they gave my dog. This is exactly what I did NOT want to happen! I also found out they gave my name and number to other business, for them to solicit/harrass me for my business. NOT COOL!

I brought my two dogs here for three days and during their stay I could see them on the webcam. They were always inside the room, never let out to play with other dogs. When I came to pick them up, their bed was peed on. I let my dogs out three times a day and they never had accidents. I don't know how long these people kept my dogs in their crates and didn't let them out. I don't recommend bringing your dogs to this place.
