Animal Shelter Assistance Program ASAP is a volunteer-based, non-profit organization that takes care of the cats and kittens at the Santa Barbara County Animal Shelter. ASAP supplies humane care for these animals and works to eliminate the practice of euthanizing them for reasons other than terminal health and/or serious behavior problems.

The volunteers are so dedicated and wonderful! My husband suggested that their "working cat" program would be great for us. Two volunteers walked us through the process and within a short time our beloved feral cat "Bonnie" has turned out to be an excellent huntress and she entertains us every day with her funny cat behaviors.

I adopted a one year old cat who was named Dane, but I changed his name to Finnegan/Finn. He has been such a delight. He is playful and after a few days at my home loved the toy you gave me and we play with that and other toys often every day. He is very loving and very smart. My life has changed for the better by the priviledge of having this wonderful cat! Thank you so much for the work you do.

No kill shelter for cats. Went there to maybe adopt a tortishell kitten I had seen photos of. The staff was very happy the place is very clean and the animals very well cared for. Visited in a small room with the kitten and loved her. Adoption process was easy and Keiki has settled into her new home in the last four days.

This place is great. All of the pets seem happy and healthy. It's clean, and we'll maintained. Remember, adoption is serious stuff but your pet will always love you. They may poop on the floor or leave a half eaten gopher in your bed, but it's because they love you, and because they are terrible gift givers. But it's the thought that counts.

Best cat shelter and adoption facility I have ever seen. Friendly staff, long opening hours, very well cared for cats. Cats are displayed with all available information, such as "should be the only pet" or "does well with dogs". You can easily get a one-on-one with the kitty you may like. Did I mention the friendly staff? THE cat place

I work there two days aweek and there at ASAP we take care of all cats that are found, hurt, we will take cats that when someone is moving and can't take there love ones with them. We have many programs also with fostering kitten's, queens that are having kitten's to the elderly cats so they can have a home till there days. All of this is run by people who volunteer there time and from donations that we get. And we will always find a home for them and no cat is put down. There Great.

Just make sure you use hand sanitizer or the cat ladies will be on you. They have an awesome "run" area out back that cats must love. I have been going here for years just to visit cats, and I have one I adopted from here. They're constantly improving the environment for the cats and the staff clearly care deeply about them.
