Greyhound Rescue & Rehabilitation (GRR) is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit adoption/placement organization comprised of volunteers, dedicated to raising public awareness about the ex-racing Greyhound; their gentle & loving nature, wonderful disposition and suitability as pets and companions. Our geographic focus is Westchester, Putnam, Duchess, Rockland, Orange and Ulster Counties, NY and Fairfield County and Litchfield County, CT. GRR is committed to rescuing Greyhounds and with the help of foster families, acclimating the dogs to a home environment and preparing them for adoption.
Adopting a retired Greyhound is truly a rewarding experience. Your Greyhound will quickly become a member of your family and add joy to your home. Their playful and sensitive nature will endear them to everyone. Most importantly, adopting a Greyhound is a serious commitment. Your pet will depend on you for guidance and to meet all its needs; food, shelter, health care and lots of love.
Prior to placement, they are spayed/neutered, teeth cleaned and innoculations are updated. All are tested for heartworm, de-wormed, tick-titered, and receive a non-slip (martingale) collar and matching lead. Please note that GRR only works with potential adopters in the following areas : NY State: Duchess County, Putnam County, Westchester County.
Thank you for your interest in adopting an ex-racing greyhound. All these questions are important for us to select a dog best suited to your family and life style so please take the time to give us as much information as possible. All adopters must consider the financial and psychological needs of this long-term relationship and be prepared to honor that commitment.
