I took my dog here for puppy training years ago and everything went smoothly, even though I was given strange looks like I was weird or something. After that, I took him for grooming, he got groomed there one or two times, but the last time I went after setting an appointment, I was told (by the head groomer I guess, not the student girl that was going to work him), that my dog was too on edge and that I should give him some valium or something, lol.
Never went back. My dog gets protective around me, but after I leave he's okay, but they didn't seem interested in working him or in money I guess, he's only a Bichon btw not a freaking Pitbull.

I used Connecticut K-9 as training for my little mixed breed 1 year old a couple years ago. She had anxiety and some aggression issues when the trainer met her. She was originally from Louisiana. However, at the second training session my dog was barking and not responding when crossing in front other dogs. The trainer who came recommended, corrected her by swinging her around by her neck.off the ground.
I believed at the time that she interrupted his class and perhaps he did not appreciate it. I stopped going based on that experience.negative reinforcement is not what my dog needed. Also, after speaking with the front office, I lost a majority of the training fee. I received only the remainder of the sessions not used. I would not recommend this training facility unless you have a fairly well-behaved dog to begin with or require police dog training.
As to why I'm just posting this now. That is simply because after having to rehome my dog due to aggressive and over protective behavior. I did not want to have to think about any of the negative experiences that came along with it.

I was also a previous student at CT K9 and did not feel my experience was worth the money. Most days there were no dogs to groom and I found myself sitting there "collecting hours." They would not give you your certificate unless you "completed" all hours which usually meant just sitting there and cleaning for the day. The facility itself is extremely outdated and in need of some serious TLC!
Clearly no money is placed back into this business. I did not feel prepared as a groomer upon graduation and felt a lot of what I know now has been self taught on the job. Honestly, if you want to start grooming save your money and go find someone who wants a student to teach and offer them money instead. I wouldn't waste your money time or efforts here at this facility.

My little princess Minnie had a spa day at CT k9 and she look gorgeous. I actually groom cats for a living but she deserves a proper doggie groomer so they are the best and that's why I brought her here. I would recommend them to anyone (and have as I brought my moms dog there too!). Such a caring, friendly place. I'm so glad I found it

I take my dog here for grooming every 2 months or so. When we went for his spring cut, they didn't take off quite as much as I would have liked but I took him home anyway to see what my girlfriend thought. She agreed that he was still too hairy and so we called to see if they would take him back and buzz him down. To our pleasant surprise they took him the next day and only charged us $5 (the difference between a trim and a cut). They are always so friendly and make you feel extremely comfortable leaving your dog there for the day. Will definitely continue going back!
