Berea ARF is a no-time-limit animal rescue providing shelter, love and care for stray and homeless animals for as long as it takes to place them into forever homes. We receive no federal or municipal funding; we're supported solely through adoptions, fundraisers and donations from generous supporters. We are still conducting adoptions by appointment on other days of the week.

To schedule an appointment to visit a dog, please contact the adoption consultant listed in the dog's biography. To schedule an appointment to visit a cat, please contact arfcats@gmail.com or call 440-223-1275.
Services
Berea Animal Rescue Friends (ARF) is a no-time-limit animal shelter that rescues stray and homeless companion animals, provides medical care, spay/neuter, vaccinations and housing, and prepares animals for adoption into loving homes. We began as a grassroots organization in a family's garage and through hard work and the dedication of volunteers answering a real need in the community; the operation grew when the city of Berea provided us with a small building and utility costs; in return the shelter agreed to always have an open cage for the city's strays.
Thank you to our generous supporters and donors, who make it possible for ARF to save the lives of over 1,000 companion animals each and every year. We receive no federal or municipal funding, but rely exclusively on donations, adoption fees and fundraising to support our lifesaving mission. ARF offers several ways you can make a real difference in the lives of homeless and neglected animals.
ARF is always in need of basic animal care and cleaning supplies used daily at the shelter. Your donations of these items can make a big difference to our animals. You can Download this list here, or visit our wish list on Amazon to conveniently shop online. Gift cards for Target, Walmart, Petco, PetSmart, Pet Supplies Plus, OfficeMax, or Staples.
Adopting an animal is an important decision that will affect you, your household, and the animal for many years to come. Our primary goal is to place animals in a loving and forever home. We strive for the best possible match between you and your new pet. If you do not find the right animal on your first visit to our shelter, please return another day when new animals will be available for adoption.

Cat is very playful, likes knocking things off the tables and will eat anything. Also cant get the cat to stop going on the counter/table the cat has also gone on top of the fridge a few times. I have had this cat for over a year now and has tried to kill multiple other animals. Also hates other cats.

Amazing shelter and they are doing a great job. Super friendly staff. Got our first cat from them before they moved. I think it's great that they have a food donation and pantry there to help people/pets in need

We went there looking for a puppy and as soon as I mentioned we had another dog they told us we couldn't have the puppy unless they had a meet and greet with the puppy and our dog. And they insisted that they knew what would fit our home best. If you're looking for a puppy I suggest you use puppies.com and get one from there.

We adopted a dog recently, and this is the place to go. The staff were so kind and helpful. The facility is clean, including the kennels. The kennels are large and contain everything a dog and cat need to have space and be comfortable. The adoption process was quick.

This place is awesome! I adopted my two cats today. It was my first time going through the process. They made it easy and we're extremely helpful. Also, very nice and knowledgeable. They truly made me feel welcome. I have always been around cats, but never had my own. Now that I have my own place I decided it was my time. They matched me with two perfect cats. I'm so excited to bond with my cats.

I'd like to thank the volunteers at Berea Animal Rescue, they helped me out a lot last Sunday when I fell a little short on my dog food for this month. They gave me enough to last well past my next paycheck! Whoever is reading this review, please consider contributing any extra pet food you have to this organization! And if not able to contribute, reach out to them for help if you need it for your animals.

I adore my sweet Kiki (formerly Jesse). I adopted her from my local petco that had kitties from ARF. She passed her vet visits with flying colors, a perfectly healthy kitty. She has adjusted to her new life amazingly and loves her big sister Gigi.

We had lost our sweet boy Milo recently and we couldn't live with the void he left in our home. While my husband wanted a puppy, I wanted a rescue and knew puppies are not common in shelters. I called asking about Chief, a 5 month old jack russell mix, and we were scheduled to meet him with our chocolate lab, Titus the next day. We brought him home later that afternoon and he fit in with our family perfectly.

He's playful and the best cuddle bug. He's completely potty trained and is such a good boy. We are so happy with him! Rose was amazing along with the other volunteers. The shelter was clean and organized. While I was picking Chief up (now named Dexter) there were at least 5 phone calls wanting to bring abandoned animals in to the shelter. There are so many animals out there that need a forever home. Don't shop, ADOPT!
