I needed treats, and this place was delightful. It had great dog toys, good quality food and treats. The woman who waited on me was helpful and pleasant making for a nice, welcoming, shopping experience.

Services
A part of our "Whole Pet" philosophy, we provide an environment that caters to all aspects of the health and well-being of pets and their owners. There are currently 5 distinct features to our business: self-serve dog wash, dog grooming, dog daycare, dog overnight boarding and a retail section that sells dog and cat food & supplies.
Our indoor playroom is supervised by trained staff who ensure that your dog has a great time. We also have an outdoor play area, playground equipment, fellow dogs to play with and comfy beds for break time. Full day, half day and 2 hour drop in play groups are available 7:00 am to 6:00 pm Monday through Friday and 10:00 am to 2:00 pm on Saturday. We're located right in the heart of Winthrop, MA - super convenient to East Boston, Revere, Chelsea and Logan Airport!

Ears are cleaned and plucked, nails are clipped and filed, and the paws tidied. Most visits take about 2-3 hours, during which time, your dog will be cosseted and pampered.
At Sandy Paws, we work with the leading distributors in pet products and supplies to make sure we can take care of all of your pets needs. We stock a large selection of high quality brands to fit the specific needs of your fur buddy and can special order just about anything we do not carry. We make it a priority to only work with the best manufacturers who only want the best for their pets.

This review is not about how many stars I would give but rather my take on the owner and staff. I just wanted to post it since I thought some others were a little harsh with their reviews I was looking for a place for my dogs to go on Daycare. I was told there was a waiting list of 2 or more months. When I made a visit to their facility I spent about 1/2 hour with Jamie and got a full tour of the facility which was decent size and very clean.
I understand now that the wait time is because "they don't lose any customers" Everyone I met was courteous and knowledgeable. I also know many people who go there and also recommend. when the time comes I will not hesitate to bring my dogs there. Jeff Brown

The people at Sandy Paws always take very good care of Bailey! They are always kind and friendly, and take care to provide great service and balance for the come-and-go of different pets/clients. And Sue is just wonderful. She's been helping us out with Bailey's nail trims for years. Bailey is not the best client, but Sue is patient and kind, and accommodates his anxiety. We are grateful and lucky to have such a level of service available to us here in Winthrop.

I wish I could give NO stars! My beautiful, well-groomed, well maintained, pampered La-chon went in for a groom. Once I got home, I noticed the chop job on her ears and snout. It took management a day or two to get back to me. I was told the "groomer" Fatima said that my dog was knotted and matted. I guess she really had nothing else to say to justify her terrible workmanship.
My dog has been getting groomed since she was 4 months old. Every 4-5 weeks, she goes in for upkeep. Her coat is perfect and silk like smooth. Fatima first stated that my dog was wiggling too much. Again, she's been groomed since 4 months old. She's used to it. Once I informed them of that, the next response was that she was so poorly matted and knotted.
I asked for a refund at which I was refused. Management is awful; she doesn't really know what good business is. The pictures speak for themselves here. Please Please reconsider going to this establishment. Terrible workmanship: management doesn't care about their client's, nor their reputation either. If after reading all this and you do decide to go, definitely look at your animal before you pay & tip! Good Luck

Absolutely Horrible Experience! My beautiful baby Pebbles was terribly chopped, and unevenly cut. Her snout was butchered. When I asked to speak with management, at first I was told it was because my dog was so wiggly. At which I informed them she gets groomed every 4-5 weeks, and no one ever told me that. Then she said that the "groomer" Fatima said she was badly knotted and matted.
My dog is combed out ever, single day, just IMPOSSIBLE! All excuses for terrible workmanship. People should have pride in their work & management should care about their clients, and reputation. Would Never & Could Never recommend this establishment to anyone. Just wish I could post the nightmare pictures for all to see. Think Twice

I have an elderly (16 year old) Yorkie who resolutely hates going to the groomer's, but Sandy Paws has kept the excursion as pain-free as possible for the two visits we have had there. They are reasonably priced but do a great job providing a professional, attractive cut with the nice little extras (oatmeal bath, sparkly bow) and my pup has been in and out in under 2 hours, which helps to limit her anxiety about being away for too long. We will keep going for routine grooming.

I take my 11 year old pup here for self grooming and it's the best! She's a big girl (60lbs) and they have a giant tub that works perfectly. Their products are extremely dog friendly (she's never itchy afterwards), and they smell great! Love the giant leaf blower/hair dryer they have because my dog needs it. Everyone working there is super friendly and the space is extremely clean :)

We love Sandy Paws! I bring my dog Bruce for a daycare a couple of days per week. The staff is extremely attentive and always lets me know how the day went. He's a bit over active and curious, so is a handful, but he's progressed and settled in really well with the team and other dogs there. I appreciate Jamie's advice and updates as a trainer for what behaviors to look out for and work on with him outside of daycare.
The folks at Sandy paws have even gone out of their way to include special items for Bruce in their orders for the store that we can't find elsewhere. They've been a huge asset to my experience as a relatively new dog owner. Thank you!

Sandy paws is great for all your dog care, food, treats and grooming needs. The staff are all so welcoming and treat each dog like it's their own pet. The Groomers are all skilled and caring. We have been going to Sue for years. She is absolutely amazing Out shih tzus get really stressed with grooming but thanks to Sue, grooming time has become a much easier and less stressful process for our dogs. Highly recommend Sue.

The first time I went to Sandy Paws I was so happy with their service. I was recommending it to friends and I appreciated that they allowed me to step out and take care of a few things. This week my appointment was cancelled 1 hour before and was told that he could be taken care of in an hour another day. On the day of his next appointment and after the service was completed they ended up cutting his hair way shorter than we agreed.
I had purposefully brushed his hair twice this week to ensure he didn't have any knots and he didn't end up the way he did. I became even more upset when I realized the cut was completely uneven. Attached are images. I also have images of what he looked prior to the cut. Before the appointment I let them know I only had an hour and that that's what I was told over the phone before the service started. It would be unacceptable to assume the quality provided would be excused because they felt rushed. Extremely disappointing.
