If you decide you want one of our puppies, please fill out Puppy Adoption Questionnaire so that we can help you select a puppy to suit your lifestyle. That is the first step in getting a Deep Run Puppy. There is a new formula that looks even better for Deep Run puppies, Purina Proplan Development for Large Breeds. This is an improved formula, so if you can get this food, feel free to switch to this food. You can feed the same amount of this that you have been feeding of the puppy food. Feel free to call me if you have any questions.

I am deeply saddened by the actions of Deep Run. I have a black male from a 2018 litter of Ida and Casey. He has been diagnosed with Stage 5 lymphoma. I reached out to Deep Run with my news and was met with a sorry to hear that, but you can have a 10% discount on an upcoming litter of Ida and Billy (Casey's son). Which by the way is the only communication I had from them.
From that response I posed several questions via email and by phone, and crickets. I asked, are there any litter mate that had the same diagnosis, should we be worried about a new puppy from the same bloodline having the same fate, what about genetics.by the way, research shows that lymphoma in dogs is genetic. Deep Run is aware of the genetics and that is why they stopped all communications.
The worst thing is that they are keeping the bloodline going. It is shameful that this breeder cares more about getting your money then the heartbreak that they are creating. Please steer clear of this operation.

WARNING! Simply stated - DO NOT EVER buy a puppy from Deep Run Farm. I am not a disgruntled customer in so much as we bought a puppy who we have come to learn has a terminal health issue. However, I am disgruntled in that, to this day, I have never been able to speak with the owner and have been dismissed every step of the way in trying to identify our puppy's health issues and determine the best method of treatment.
I will try and summarize as briefly as possible, as this has been a long and sordid story for our family unfortunately. To begin, once we picked up the puppy, it did not take long for us to notice that the puppy was having issues related to excessive urination and thirst, all of which we hoped might be consistent with normal puppy behavior. However, as the symptoms continued and began to worsen, we desperately tried to identify the problem and consulted with our local veterinarian, who was at a loss following multiple visits and tests.
We also attempted to contact Deep Run Farm multiple times unsuccessfully, hoping to speak with Phyllis (the owner), who, as an experienced veterinarian, we believed could potentially help us. As you may imagine, as our puppy was suffering, our frustration with the lack of any response was nothing less than offensive. We spoke to Phyllis' assistant multiple times, basically begging to speak with Phyllis so we could ask about any similar experiences and better understand any issues in the lineage of our puppy and, hopefully, identify what may be wrong.
After many weeks of uncertainty (and heartbreak by my two young sons) we finally found a veterinarian at the world-renowned Animal Medical Center in New York City (where we live), who diagnosed our puppy as having malformed kidneys, which is a hereditary affliction that has no cure and will lead to renal disease of the kidneys and, ultimately, death for our puppy.
Upon learning of the diagnosis, we quickly tried to re-engage with Deep Run Farm to try and inform them of the situation, not only as it relates to our puppy, but potentially for others who may have purchased a puppy from the same litter. Despite having our veterinarian call Deep Run Farm directly, despite emailing all the paperwork with the clear diagnosis, and despite our multiple efforts to reach Phyllis directly, we received no response.
We implored Phyllis' assistant that we were not looking for money or for a new puppy, or a refund of any kind (all 100% true to this day), but rather that we wanted to speak with her to try and see if there was any advice and experience we could tap into to find the best treatment for our puppy and improve her quality of life. After weeks of not hearing anything, we finally received an email (which seemed like a form letter) stating that Phyllis did not believe the diagnosis and assured us the puppy was healthy when she left Deep Run Farm, and left us with no other response, detail or conclusions.
To this day we have never spoken with Phyllis or received any other correspondence. To say that response, or lack thereof, was despicable is an understatement. Deep Run Farm exhibited zero sensitivity, let alone responsibility, to the fact they are in the business of caring for, and providing to families, living creatures who can have significant impact to the lives of their "customers".
To also dismiss the diagnosis from an independent and highly reputable set of doctors who specialize in this type of affliction, and work at a preeminent animal hospital, truly defies all logic. As I started, I dont blame Deep Run Farm for the unfortunate reality of our puppy's condition; of course uncontrollable defects happen in all forms of life. However, knowing this story, I dont how anyone can justify Deep Run Farm's lack of morality or sympathy that any reasonable person would say is necessary with the practice of breeding and selling animals in this context. Accordingly, STAY AWAY!

My Maggie just turned 4 and is everything we could ask for in a hunting dog, home companion and playmate for the kids. They did a great job getting her used to different situations so she was unflappable from the start and came crate trained and so easy to housebreak. She really impresses all my hunting buddies and one of them got a Deep Run pup that is now almost a year old and showing great promise already. Highly recommend this place and will be back!

I purchased a black lab pup 3 years ago after much research as I wanted a dog for duck and pheasant hunting. A friend of a friend had 2 Deep Run labs and everyone raved about them. I am so happy with my Rip, he has been the best pal, hunter, and companion for my 2 young kids. He is a joy to live with and a retrieving machine! I look forward to many more years hunting with him and will definitely be getting my next pup from here.

Having read some of the reviews, I concluded that I should share my family's experiences with Phyllis and Deep Run. We have purchased 3 labs, all trained to some degree, from older puppy to finished gun dog. All were as represented. The pup was a gift to my daughter's family and is a fantastic dog. We have been fortunate to purchase four Norwich terriers, and theyhave been delightful, healthy little additions to the familyover the yesrs. We currently have two. Lastly, we purchased two Flat Coat retrievers, and they were great dogs. Obviously, we would highly recommend Deep Run.

My Sierra just turned two and it has been the best journey ever. She was so easy to train from the day I picked her up. I don't know how you do it, but she seemed to have such a great head start in every area. House breaking was so easy, and she was quiet in her crate right from the start. My trainer is so impressed with her. Last fall she went on her first duck hunt and was amazing. Quiet in the blind but a fireball when working. I will definitely be back for my next lab in a couple years, even though you're 7 hours away!

So glad my wife did all the research she did before we got our pup 2 years ago. Mac is the best dog we have ever owned and I've had dogs all my life since I was a kid. He was super easy to train and so well adjusted right from the start. Can't wait for hunting season to start. In the meantime he plays with the grandkids and swims in our pool. My neighbors are so impressed they're getting their next pup from here.

Absolutely the best place to get a quality, healthy Lab. I can't say enough about their puppy program. My Sara had such a fantastic start when I picked her up. She could sit, walk on a leash and was so relaxed and happy in her crate, even the 2 day trip home she took in stride, only whimpering when she had to go out. She was obviously well socialized and exposed to many many different surfaces, noises and situations. Easiest pup ever to potty train, she only had one accident ever, and that was my fault.
We now compete in agility and flyball and she is outstanding in both. Everyone asks where I got her. She is super healthy and fit and has just turned six. I will definitely be getting my next pup at Deep Run, they were wonderful to deal with and really selected the perfect pup for me.
