I have a bit of a love hate relationship with K9. They're a good facility, but expensive. Also, they've become popular and have felt it necessary to establish rules that may make their lives easier, but are not customer-centric. For example, they require a 5 day stay for boarding. So, if we simply need an overnight or two, we have to look elsewhere.
Also they require reservations for daycare and charge you for no show. Even if your animal is sick or you're a long-time customer and this is an exception. There are only a couple other options in the area, which are looking more enticing. I wish there was more incentive for the office to retain their customers.

Loved it at first for my dog, but then they said my dog was too "hyper" and needed another temperament test. Interestingly enough he passed other dog boarding temperament tests. He's a puppy. They just don't want to work and give me very lazy vibes compared to other places I've seen. They will crate your dog without telling you. I had to call to find out that my dog was crated for two hours.
My friend has told me she has similar experiences with her dog who is very well behaved and she's not going back here. Unfortunately not going back, but my dog is happy elsewhere. Pupz club in Rahway and Barker Lounge are much better.

The staff at K9 Resorts are so impressive. They are professional, attentive, friendly, and make us feel safe leaving our dogs with them. They truly get to know the dogs and it is comforting. Communication is always open and clear. The building is so clean and I know that my dogs are safe in the facility. My dogs are so excited to go to daycare and they are happy and tired when they comes home. Additionally, it's such great exposure to humans and other dogs. K9 is truly a luxury facility and it is evident that the staff are committed to their jobs. I am so impressed and I will recommend K9 Resorts to my friends and family members.

The ONLY place I trust to leave my precious babies with when I go away. My two Boston Terriers Stella & Oliver had the best time it seemed like they didn't want to leave when I picked them up from their week stay at K9 Resorts Fanwood. The staff is incredibly kind and go above and beyond to care for your furry loved ones. The facility is welcoming and clean and so accommodating leaving me with not a worry while I was traveling. I will only utilize them in the future and I will continue to tell everyone and anyone to do the same! Thank you for taking such great care of Stella & Oliver!

I have a high energy dog who loves to play with other dogs. K9 Resorts day care is the perfect place for Riley to socialize and run off his energy in a safe environment. All dogs are screened for aggression and are vaccinated, so I feel more confident that he is safe. He is always happy and tired when I pick him up. The staff are friendly and kind.
I do wish they had more space. Need to make appointments well in advance, but I appreciate that they limit the number of dogs to maintain safety. He can even get a bath if needed. Great place.

My dog LOVES to go to the "puppy palace, " as we call it. When I tell her we are going there, she gets very excited and is at the door before me. I am impressed that, with all the dogs, the staff knows my dog and greets her happily by name. I love seeing how eager all the dogs are when they arrive and how contented they are to see their people at pick up time. In short, I do not hesitate to recommend K-9 Resorts.

Benny has been in doggie daycare here since this past March. He loves it here, and they seem to love him, too. I think it's great that they are able to open up the big doors regularly and let the dogs out into a fenced area. I don't know what Benny would be like if he hadn't gone into daycare here, but he is certainly a happy, cheerful dog who loves other dogs and other people.
It also works well for me that they are right down the street from the vet and the train station. This place came highly recommended to me by neighbors, and It has fully lived up to its reputation.

We love K9 Resort and Pet Hotel! Brooklyn, my lab mix, gets so excited when I mention that it's time to go! She loves being with the other dogs in large day care and adores all of the K9 staff. It's a pleasure knowing she is being well cared for when she is there. I have also used K9 for boarding and that service is also wonderful. Peace of mind knowing how much she is cared for and loved when I am away is so comforting.
I cannot say enough about the beautiful facility. It truly is a "pet resort/hotel", and it is kept so incredibly clean. It is a wonderful facility all around which we love and are grateful for the great service the staff provides!

We have a new puppy who needed some time with other dogs to give her an opportunity to learn to socialize. Lily (Stahl) comes home happy, exhausted, and healthy. We have boarded her as well and we are thrilled with the care she receives. We are happy we discovered K9 Resorts. It gives us great piece of mind

I have been taking my retriever mix, Oakley, to K9 Resorts in Fanwood since 4/2020 for doggy daycare. She loves this place, and she loves the employees. When she walks through the door and the employee calls her name, she does that little lip smile at them. That in and of itself shows me that she is happy and enjoys her time in their care. The building is always clean, and the employees are all EXCEPTIONAL!
I can tell they love their job, and, most importantly, they love the dogs! During the height of Covid, when we couldn't go into the building, the employees had to shuttle the dogs from the car to the building and vice versa. The teamwork they displayed during this stressful time was exemplary. I hope the owners took notice and recognized their dedication. I can't say enough good things about K9 Resorts in Fanwood. If I could, I would have given 10 Stars.

We used to love this place. Staff is friendly, our dog loves it, no issues. But recently they've accepted too many clients and it's nearly impossible to schedule a reservation. We've unfortunately had to join another doggy daycare in the area because we cannot schedule far enough in advance to book a day. When we try to make an appointment, they are constantly full.
We pre-paid for 40 days in advance. The policy used to be that if you prepaid, you did not have to book a reservation in advance. Our schedules change drastically so we can't schedule doggy daycare a week and a half in advance which is now about the timeline needed to get in. Otherwise, they fill up and you can't use it. So we've pre-paid for days but can't ever use them.
So here's my warning: Unless your schedule is set every week and you KNOW at least 2 weeks in advance the days you want to send you dog to daycare, DO NOT prepay as they now fill up too quickly and you won't get in. I guess this is a good problem for K9 resorts but is horrible as a customer who's been using their services for 2 years. So, 3 stars: 5 for dog care but 1 for convenience.

We used to bring our dog here when we went away. I couldn't remember why we switched to Barker Lounge but decided to give this one a try again since it's closer to our house. NOW I remember. They only give you a 3 hour window on Sundays to pick up your dog - between 3pm-6pm. So if you miss that window, then you don't get your puppy. AND you have to pay for another night. Well, today we made the window and got our dog right at 3pm.
When i looked at my invoice. I saw I was charged a "late checkout" fee of $30 because she stayed later than 12:30. We would have picked her up at 10 if we could have! The whole process and fee penalty is outrageous in my opinion. We will stick with Barker Lounge.

So far so good I have had nothing but great experiences with K9 resorts. My dog seems very happy going here so far. It's always nerve-racking not knowing if your dog is comfortable at a new place but it seems as though my dog enjoys its time here. Everyone is very professional which I love and appreciate the hours are good. The price is a little bit more but it's OK if the dog is comfortable. I'm sure we will be back to K9 resorts soon.

GREAT boarding! Our pomeranian is anxious and received the personal attention that he needs to be comfortable. We tried another boarding location in the area and were disappointed. K-9 offers great care and our dog left happy and healthy. The staff is kind and accomodating. We are so grateful to K-9 Fanwood for watching our pet!

We've been taking our dog to K9 for almost 3 years and would never take him anywhere else. The receptionists know our dog by name when he runs through the door. You can tell that he truly loves being there. The staff has always been accommodating of our requests. We know that when we leave Marty there, he's safe and comfortable.

Absolutely the best! This review is LONG overdue. We have two miniature poodles, brother and sister, that will be 4 July 5th, 2019. They are lovingly nicknamed the Chicken Nuggets by the folks at the K9. When we picked them up today, we were asked if we wanted an order of Chicken Nuggets. Everyone at the K9 Resorts clearly loves dogs and their jobs, it shows in everything that they do.
We have gone on many vacations with the longest being about 16 days and they come home as happy as possible. We have been taking them here since they were puppies, since they were about 6 months old. The K9 Resorts gives us an absolute peace of mind, knowing that our dogs are lovingly cared for by everyone. This is key to my wife and I having a great vacation, although we seriously miss them, we know that they are in the best hands possible. Thank you K9 Resorts Team! You're the best!

Cookie Marie had a great time! We were so nervous boarding her for the 1st time but had no other option over an extended weekend away. From the moment we got there I felt better as everyone was pleasant and very thoroughly explained a typical boarding days and gave us a tour. The facility is beautiful and I liked how the larger were separate from the smaller ones.
We called a few times to check on her and the staff knew exactly how she was doing and were very reassuring. She came home tired but smelling so great from her bath. Thank you k9 resort, we will def recommend you!

All that glitters is not gold - beware! After a lot of research, we thought we were doing the best by our pet, only to find that the poor thing contracted bacterial and fungal infection while in their care. Purchased their top-of-line boarding package with tons of extras -- however, after almost 8 days of stay our GSD came back with bright red growth on both side of his lower lips - something that has never occurred in the past.
What we did not know was that was just the beginning of our nightmare. I immediately took our pet to the vet that afternoon and requested that they do a culture. The culture came back positive and we had to treat him with antibiotics. The cost of the vet bill plus meds was well over $300+. What was most unprofessional was how their PR person hoodwinked us. First, he incessantly kept calling me at work to get approval so that they can speak with the vet.
This despite a clear case of culture report that indicated the pet had contracted infection. Then the PR guy cons us in making us believe that they would refund the vet plus meds bills, only if we approve of him speaking with the vet so that "they can prevent this infection from occurring to other pets". Sounded legit, but it was a ploy. Our vet indicated that there was no way for her to tell the exact mechanism of how the dog picked up the infection.
The PR conman twisted her words; instead conveniently interpreting this to mean that K-9 resorts was not responsible for the infection. I feel so sorry to write my only second negative online review - ever! They compounded the mistake by make false representation in their follow-up. They added to our grief by making a fool of us. We are reserving all rights for legal action.

I highly recommend K-9 Resorts for boarding your dogs. The staff is very friendly, efficient, and helpful. The inside of the building looks and smells clean. My dogs come home happy and smelling good. I am happy to pay a little extra for the extra effort that K-9 puts into their care. Thank you for taking good care of my dogs during the holidays :

My dog loves staying here and I love that I found a place that takes such good care of him. Admittedly, I never thought I'd be the type to send my dog to doggie daycare or splurge on luxury hotel stays, but it turns out I am! My Duke has a lot of energy and we work full time so it's nice to have the daycare option for him to burn some energy on the occasional weekday.
They only ask you call the day ahead to give them a heads up. I love being able to bring him on such short notice. We've used the overnight boarding on several occasions for 1 or 2 nights and have zero complaints. I love not having to ask friends or family to watch after Duke if we go away since I'm pretty particular about how he is cared for and his daily schedule.
I know he loves going there because he tries to get into my car for days after we bring him home so he can go play with him friends. I do think it would be nice if there was an app to log in from your phone and watch them at daycare. That'd be an adorable way to waste my work day.
