Allison Lane Animal Hospital was built and founded in 1973 by Dr. Dean and Joanna Steider. Dr. Steider and his wife served the area for 30 years. Through hard work and great dedication, they established Allison Lane Animal Hospital as a vital part of the Jeffersonville community. In early 2000 Dr. Steider was joined by Dr. Melanie Roberts and Dr. Kris Trowbridge, acting manager for the hospital's new owner Dr. Kirk Swigert. The business continued to grow and evolve and in 2002 Dr. Melanie Roberts and her husband Dr. Jim Roberts partnered with Dr. Swigert at Allison Lane Animal Hospital.

Services
Our main concern has and always will be treating animals with care and compassion, like one of our own. But, that care and compassion does not stop with them. We realize that these animals, regardless of how big or small, of how young or old, of how groomed or scruffy, are members of the family, companions, best friends, confidants, and much more.
Allison Lane Animal Hospital is Located at 1660 Allison Lane in Jeffersonville, IN, near the intersection of Allison Lane and Middle road. We are less than 1 mile South of Meijer (which is at 10th Street and Allison Lane). Take 10th Street (HWY 62/HWY 3) away from 65. Follow it for several miles to the intersection of Allison Lane and 10th Street (Look for the Meijer located on the far right, and the Walgreens on the hill on the left). At this intersection turn right. Follow Allison Lane past Jeff High School (on right).
Our physical exam fee also covers the office visit, therefore, you are charged this type of fee at any doctor's office. However, each time that you present to our clinic, for any problem, your pet will receive a full exam, head-to-toe. This way we can catch any problems that your pet may be having in addition to the presenting complaint.
Lab work includes a large variety of various tests that can be preformed to assist a veterinarian in diagnosing an animal's condition. Our doctors have a wide range of laboratory tests at their fingertips with our in-house laboratory facilities. This allows us to both diagnose disease and establish treatment plans quickly for critical patients.

I love ALAH! I have not compared prices with other vets in the area but sometimes it seems expensive. But I do believe that my pets are getting great care so it's worth it to me. I picked 4 out of 5 stars because other people may think it's too much and would want to look around and compare other vets' prices in the area. We have 3 cats and 1 dog and they're all getting older (ages 15, 11, 9, and 6) but are very healthy. Thank you for taking care of our fur kids ALAH!

Very caring and sincere Animal Hospital. Comes out to your car just by text. They will even sometimes make exceptions and go ahead and see your pet without an appointment. Like for example I had to put my dog down babee but before I made that decision the doctor called me and explained all options and even gave me her own personal feeling on what the outcome could be with every angle for babee and I can tell you they gave us all the time in the world with her to say are goodbyes, and was very gentle with her and us.

Thank you so much for providing care for Cheyenne--but thank you even more for the care that is provided by you to her owner---who is my son who is disabled. Cheyenne is truly a therapy dog for him and I appreciate that you understanding that. Dr. Roberts is not only a great vet, but is a caring and loving person who not only understands the needs of your pet, but also the needs of the owner. All I can say is God bless you all. I have really enjoyed taking both of my cats to Allison lane animal hospital. All of the staff are the perfect balance of professional and caring. I highly recommend these guys to anyone looking for a reputable vet. I absolutely love how serious they have taken the pandemic to keep the pets, and their staff safe. I could go on for hours. Not to mention pricing is amazing. Take this as your sign to use Allison lane!

We have been clients for many, many years and we have always been very pleased with the services provided. Dr. Melanie Roberts is "our doctor" and we LOVE her. (Professionally and personally - she treats you as a friend/family, not just another patient). On occasion, when we have seen other doctors, they have been great too! The support staff is always helpful & friendly (even when they're crazy busy) Donna, Peggy, Amy, Megan & Kelsey - You ladies ROCK!
I would like to thank the whole practice for handling these challenging COVID times as well as they have. The procedures put in place to keep everyone safe have been amazing!

Dr. Melanie Roberts was able to diagnose the problem with one of my cats when another vet could not. She is very caring and is thorough in her examinations. I am currently having an issue with my other cat and she was able to diagnose the problem with her as well. Her husband is as great of a vet as Dr. Melanie. Love this place. Highly recommend. Dr. Melanie gave my family a miracle. I was called and told there was a dog that was not going to make it. She could not stand on any of her legs, her eyes were red with blood from the concussion caused from being beaten. They said she had neurological damage and could not be saved, which is why I named her Miracle, she really needed one. The people that rescued her had taken her to a vet who had done a laser treatment on her brain and gave her a steroid shot and sent her home to die peacefully.
I picked her up and planned on loving her till the end. I took her to my old vet who gave me pain pills for her and steroid pills and told me she had a few days. Still she couldn't stand and had a hard time lifting her head. She would sometimes freeze and scream, it was utterly heartbreaking. Over a period of 11 days she started bearing weight on three of her four legs, started lifting her head and even eating and drinking some.
Her eyes were not nearly as red as they had been. I knew something wasn't right. I called a friend and he referred me to Dr Melanie. Dr. Melanie walked in the room and said, I'm pretty sure she has a broken leg. She took the time to examine her, to test her neurological responses, to watch her reactions. She took time to talk to her and to me. She was the first vet that was right, two vets had missed her femur (leg bone) was completely snapped.
She took X-rays and we followed the recommendation to take her to the surgeon. That was May of 2016, Miracle recovered and is happy and loved. Since then, Dr. Melanie has gently eased the heartache of letting me know one of my fur babies had an inoperable growth, solved a mystery of a skin condition that had plagued another fur baby for years that other vets had me medicating without resolution.
If she were a human doctor, I'd be overjoyed to have her as my doc. Dr. Melanie has offered kind, loving care to my fur babies and given full disclosure with compassion to me. It's amazing to know that your vet cares about her patients and recognizes they are family. Thank you for all you do, Dr. Melanie.
