Dr. Hale grew up as a typical farm boy in Northern Arkansas. The family raised cattle and chickens and harvested hay. He spent his leisure time riding horses, team roping with his brother, fishing, hunting and camping. His first dog, a little dachshund named Penny, went everywhere with him. Having grown up on a farm, he naturally thought his veterinary career would consist mainly of cattle and horses.
When can my puppy be spayed or neutered? We recommend that a dog be spayed (ovarioshysterectomy) or neutered (castrated) at four months of age. In some cases, the surgery can be performed earlier than four months, but if at all possible should be performed by six months of age. When can my kitten be spayed or neutered?
According to recent studies, nearly 35% of pet dogs and cats are overweight. Many owners don't realize that they are over feeding their pet or are feeding a diet that could cause weight gain. If left untreated, obesity greatly increases the risks of certain life-threatening diseases. These can include heart disease, diabetes, pancreatitis, arthritis, high blood pressure, and skin problems.
As your pet gets older, there are several conditions that commonly occur. Several of these conditions have seen significant improvements in available treatments in the last five to ten years. Pet owners who are not aware of these advances may blame the problem on "old age" and put off veterinary treatment.

After All Creatures cared for my aging Rottweiler in the past I recently took my new dog Augie for a check-up and annual shots. I was glad to see they no longer make you wait in your vehicle, you are given the choice to accompany your pet inside. The check-up and shots went smoothly and the tech and Dr. Were great as usual. I also liked not having to stand out by the counter while they prepare the bill. They take care of it in the examining room.

My dog got sepsis and died after getting a dental cleaning. Sepsis is defined as a serious condition resulting from the presence of harmful microorganisms in the blood or other tissues and the body's response to their presence, potentially leading to the malfunctioning of various organs, shock, and death. This occurred after getting perfect blood work results back right before the cleaning.
Now I'm left with a broken heart and a $1500 bill. Mind you, my dog was getting older but that doesn't change the fact that he was in great condition beforehand. I will say that I never had issues in the past but a handful of visits that went okay will never outweigh the one that didn't.

Dr. Hale was amazing getting me in at the last minute when not one, but two of my cats got sick. Missy was in crisis as a 25 year old Maine coon and over the course of 3 days he stabilized her and she's doing fine. Gracie as it turned out had an infection that he is treating. I highly recommend this vet as he is now our primary vet to all our companion pets.
