Services
We are unique because our special services and packages are designed to give your pet the attention they are used to. At Whispering Winds Kennel Inc., we specialize in custom and individualized care. All services are provided by our trained and experienced staff within a secured environment. Our pet resort is set apart from all the pet resorts around as we provide hand exercise by our staff and will customize your pets dietary preferences. Here at our playful pet resort your dog can be who he is, enthusiastic and energetic, shy and timid, relaxed and snuggly.
Climate controlled private indoor run AND a fresh air outdoor covered patio run for each pet with a doggie door to go in and out throughout the day. Epoxy coated runs sanitized throughout the day to maintain our exceptional clean standards. Just like a hotel, your 1st day's charge begins the day you drop off, either during our morning or evening drop off hours.
Your dog will enjoy the sights, sounds and smells on our ten rolling acres as they investigate the shore of our pond, the wildflowers along the wooded edges of our property, and bark hello to the neighboring equestrian ranch. We want to be sensitive to your pet's habits so please let us know if he or she prefers a walk in the morning or the evening.

Whispering Winds is a great kennel we have used for frequent stays! The acreage and the property makes the perfect setting for daily play time and walks for our pup. The owners are intentional to get to know their regular boarders and the kennel is kept clean and organized. Our pup always receives a warm welcome and we love how the kennel is often decorated for the holidays too! We know our pup will always be well cared for. It is truly the best place to board, we highly recommend!

The Kennel stresses a vetting process for each animal. Lies. Employees are forced to deal w/ animals that may prove docile at first but turn restless. Should a dog prove themselves hostile then the employees can only depend on one another to manage a dangerous animal. More often than not the management will admonish the dogs if they're too noisy & even neglect their well-being: too hot during the summer, too cold in winter, even skimp on medicine! "If they don't want to take it then don't worry." Management will allow any animal there so long as it means more $.
As for employees they're expected to take on responsibilities for which they never volunteered in their application: groundskeeper, improve infrastructure, and garden no matter rain or shine and in a kennel that routinely flooded due to poor construction! During the fall there would be leaf burnings and the kennel would always lie downwind from a bonfire that was fueled w/ gasoline!
The management skimps on hourly pay, insisting that if there's nothing to be done then employees can scram, and should there be any concerns then all problems are dismissed. This was typical of the couple in charge in which they fostered a phony atmosphere of concern, but would flout their own duties: losing paper work, give little to no warning of a client's arrival & changed out their staff yer after year or reduce it to a skeleton crew in order to save additional $ expecting those left to drop whatever they were doing outside of work! Needless to say the employees suffered with most expressing dissatisfaction despite dedicating themselves to 7 day work weeks.
Work too slowly and there's punishment. Work too quickly & you'll not be paid the full amount. As for pet services there's many others besides WWK & knowing that it's not the only business which the couple has going on (1 of 3) they'll not hurt for the loss of business.

I have boarded 3 dogs at Whispering Winds on many occasions. My dogs are actually excited when we pull up to the kennel. I have always been satisfied with the quality of care and the willingness to go above and beyond shown to me by the owners. I would recommend Whispering Winds to anyone who loves their furry family member!

My precious "Arya" (2yo Female Doberman/Boxer) absolutely loves any time of the day that she can go visit Sherry & Huge, along with their truly amazing and professional staff and family. They have watched over 3 different dogs for me over almost 5 years now since moving back to the area from Arizona. Including my ex-wife's Shar-Pei/Ridgeback "Jager", and our cherished and missed senior English Lab "Koda" The longest stay was over a month while waiting for the house to close and living in a hotel.
The shortest stay around a day or two when working out of town on short notice. The "Sportsmans package" is my personal favorite package for when she stays. Arya absolutely loves getting a nice long walk through the huge property and getting playtime in every day, and I always add a "bye bye bath" to get her squeaky clean prior to coming home. They also have a climate controlled building, and is in an extremely safe and secure location so I know my pup is always in good hands 24/7.
I highly recommend "Whispering Winds Kennels" to anybody that is looking for a family owned/operated, well established, clean and professional kennel for their fur baby to stay at when needed any size, shape, or style!

I have worked at Whispering Winds for over a year now and I could not think of a better place to bring my pets. As an avid animal lover myself, I would never work at a kennel where I wouldn't want to bring my own pets. My cat has stayed at the kennel before and returned home happy and healthy. My coworkers would even send me videos of my little guy because they knew I missed him.
All of the employees at Whispering Winds go above and beyond to ensure that the animals are healthy, happy, and well cared for. They treat each dog as if it was their own. I love this kennel and am extremely grateful for the opportunity to work here.

I have been taking my dogs here for many years. When I leave them I am confident the care they receive as as good or better, than I do myself. I have used other kennels in the past when I had to, and while they do an adequate job, at none of them do I feel like they really care about my pets more than just as their job. At Whispering Winds I am confident that my dogs are enjoying my vacation as much as I am.

As someone who has worked here since March 2019 and an animal lover, owner of three dogs who are my kids, and an empathic person, I can honestly say that whispering winds treats all animals with a caring attitude. All dogs are given the opportunity to enjoy the great surroundings and have choice to be inside or out throughout the day which is a great experience for dogs compared to inside only boarding facilities that only allow few minutes per day outdoors. Owners can add special perks to the dogs stay like going for walks (which I love because the property is beautiful and peaceful for the dogs ) as well as their own special time in a large fence part of the grass yard.
All areas where dogs stay both inside and out are cleaned twice a day and raised beds and blankets and toys are given (even if families don't provide them). There's a reason this company has a consistent business and great customers and that's because they offer a special place in McHenry County where dogs can enjoy nature and great staff and care while owners are away. Animals deserve the best care especially when they can't take care of themselves and this is clearly the number one goal I get from interacting with the owners and all staff.
Come take a tour and meet us staff and see this little place of paradise that I would certainly let my three dogs (Jill, lily, and Allie) stay and feel comfortable while I'm away.
