The Richland County Kennel Club, established in 1951, is a non-profit organization incorporated under the laws of the State of Ohio and governed by a constitution and by-laws agreed upon and approved by a vote of its general membership. We are a member club of the American Kennel Club. Club affairs are governed by a board of directors and board members who are elected each year for one term. The members of the RCKC are primarily residents of Richland, Ashland, and surrounding counties in the State of Ohio who have joined together to promote purebred dogs.
Services
Our winter show is part of the Crown Classic Cluster Conformation and Obedience Trial held in Cleveland at the IX Center. Our cluster has, in the past, had tremendous turn out averaging 3,000 to 4,000 dogs entered each day. Our show has rated in the top five dog shows in the past few years based on number of dogs entered.
Test your K9 companion's natural predisposition to react to stimulus from six different categories: social, auditory, visual, tactile (touch), proprioceptive (motion), and an unexpected stimulus. The ATT is a noncompetitive, pass-fail test that will screen for fear, shyness, inability to recover, and lack of cooperation.
Household Manners is a class that is suitable for any dog. We teach each behavior at the beginning level and progress to the level your individual skills and the session allow. Using reward-based and force free methods, you will learn how to teach your dog behaviors ranging from the basics (sit, down, recall, stay, and loose leash walking) to more advanced skills that will prepare you for the AKC Canine Good Citizen test. Additional materials cover many aspects of normal canine behavior as well as teaching you how to to troubleshoot problem behaviors on your own.
This 7 week class is designed to strengthen the basic household behaviors necessary for a safe and peaceful co-existence with your dog. Prerequisites: Must have completed Household Manners or an equivalent basic obedience course. It is necessary for loose leash walking, stays and recalls (at close proximity and without major distractions) to be established before registering.
