As dog owners ourselves, we understand and pay attention to the fact that while you're away, your pets still want to play and the thought of "boarding" or "leaving" your pet somewhere isn't always, well. We know how very important it is to socialize your puppy at a very early age. Once your veterinarian gives the "OK" and we conduct an initial evaluation, please bring your puppy in to start socialization training to set them and you up for long term success! We will monitor their potty training progress and give you a potty chart the first few times you leave them with us.
Many of our clients love the fact that they can leave their best friend with us for the day while they are busy at the office and not have to worry about coming home to accidents or a house that has been destroyed by an anxious dog. We are also a great alternative to a muddy dog park. We charge $26.50 per day for daycare.
We charge $33 per night for boarding. We are considerate of multiple dogs in the same household and charge only $55 per night for two dogs! The rate is $38 for one dog and $65 for two dogs during peak boarding periods. Separated play space for puppies of all sizes & kinds: large dogs, small dogs, sleeping space.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Doggie in the Window. Violet has been boarding there for three years. When we pull into the parking lot, she gets so excited she can't contain herself : She bounds to the door and can't even sit still enough long enough to be checked in. The facility with heated sidewalks and kind caring staff are amazing. Dogs are only in their cubicles from 10pm - 7am. They play the rest of the time! Other places cage animals wayyyyy too long. Violet comes home so tired from fun and activity - she sleeps for two days! Love DITW!

I have called this business several times and without me saying anything other than "hello", Lisa responds "I can't hear you" and hangs up. 99.9% of people these days use a cell phone with no access to a land line. I understand how a bad connection can be frustrating to a busy business (esp during these times) but never in my life have I not been given the chance to walk across the room to get better reception.
We are new Berkley residents who won a stay for our dogs through the school district and we would rather eat the money than do business with someone who can't spare 10 seconds to answer the phone properly. We love this community and do everything we can to support local business but those is silly. Do better! You've lost what could have been a loyal customer.

I've been bringing my dogs here for years. Because of working full time we felt our 2 dogs needed more playtime so we started bringing them for daycare. The dogs LOVE coming and the entire staff are great with the dogs. I know that when they stay overnight they're not just stuck in a cage for days on end, they're busy playing all day. The facilities are clean and I can almost always get them in for boarding when needed.

To the person that wrote that as a new customer, she felt ignored.well just walking into a doctors office or hair salon without an appointment, you have to be worked in. Having run a surgical dept dealing with "humans" I know first hand how "pushy and entittled some clients can be. My dog has been boarding there for years and she absolutely loves it there Wendy and her staff are the most caring, professional people that I have had the pleasure to meet.
I would not let the person that made that doubtful remark about being treated poorly make a decision for anyone considering DITW. See for yourself. If you don't have the time or the patience to wait.make an appt like everyone else and get individed attention.

I agree with some of the other reviewers about the evaluation process for new dogs. I tried Doggie in the Window at the recommendation of a friend because I wanted to find a place closer to my home (I like my other daycare, but it is too far to go to consistently). I had a similar experience to Tim, Tarin, and Shelby--my happy, friendly, outgoing dog who has no problem at his other daycare was brought in quickly, told he would be grouped by size, and pulled back out because he "snapped".
My dog has never snapped at a person or animal, even if you take food/toys away from him. They do not consider your dog's feelings at all--if your dog does not respond positively to being quickly pulled into a group of 20-50 dogs by a stranger, then this place will not work for you.

Doggie in the Window is the ONLY daycare I trust my dog with. From the minute you walk in the door, everyone knows your dogs name and yours and everyone is excited you're there! Each time I see pictures of my girl online, she's cuddled in someone's lap (mostly her fav Ashley). I appreciate the procedures they have in place to ensure the health and safety of not only my dog, but all the dogs in their care. I drop her off knowing she's getting attention, play, and love from every employee. Thank you for being such a great business in the community!

Truly one of the best establishments in the country! They take amazing care of all of their pups even at the busiest of times! The owner knows every dog that walks through their door and the puppy's owner! Things happen while dogs are playing, but take much precaution and follow protocol. Your puppy is completely safe at DITW and will LOVE it.

DITW was great but there was an incident with my dog and for whatever reason my dog was not placed in a kennel, more than likely it was due to too many dogs and not enough available kennels (view photos on their website and Facebook page). It may be 16k+ sq feet but the layout does not accommodate for that many dogs. I recommend calling different doggie day cares because there are some out there that actually interact with the dogs using balls, toys, one on one interaction- not just a bunch of dogs piled in one or two areas (probably why other owner's fur babies have had incidences as well, there's nothing there for them to do but walk around) and the staff wear uniforms, not regular clothing the young staff decides to wear for their summer job. DITW staff are friendly but believe me there are other places equally nice.

I have been continually impressed by the professionalism of DITW. I have a challenging saint Bernard and they have worked closely with me to make sure he's successful at daycare. Their staff is so friendly and personal. I can't say enough good things about this place.they are truly wonderful. Thank you Wendy and the DITW staff! Erin R.

We've been bringing our dogs here for years and it's been the best thing we've done for them. Not only do the dogs cultivate very important socialization skills, but we trust the staff implicitly because they treat our dogs like their own. It makes us happy to leave our dogs for daycare and boarding because we know they are in the best hands!

My dog, Angus, is OBSESSED with Doggie in the Window! He is so excited to come to daycare in the morning. I know he really enjoys his time there. In addition to loving daycare, we both had a great time at the Basic One obedience class. I can't wait to start Basic Two! I appreciate that Doggie in the Window doesn't except aggressive dogs.
I think this show that they care more about the dogs than the money. I am so confident that my baby will be cared for well. The facility is clean. The staff are attentive and organized. This is the only place I would trust with my Angus.

I have taken my dog to multiple places- daycares, dog parks, the vet, pet boarding places, downtown Detroit, the homes of family and friends who also have dogs- Doggie In the Window is the only place to say my dog was untoward to other dogs. When I took him there the first few times, he became so excited to go in, but by the fourth and fifth times, he cowered his head and wouldn't get out of the car.
I had heard such good things from other people, and I saw for myself that other dogs were happy to go. But not mine. After he refused to go in twice in a row, I stopped trying to convince him and I never returned. I don't know what happened, but something or someone made him never want to go back.

I've boarded our two dogs there twice and both times either one or both of them have come home sick. I decided against my better judgment to board them recently the second time thinking that it was a one-off incident but obviously not. Never going back there again. Some reviewers have left comments that they won't take a dog in because they are "too aggressive".
I understand precautions need to be taken but I do believe they are unequipped and inexperienced to handle various dog personalities. This isn't a child care facility- it's a dog care facility and, while they're our babies, they are still animals after all. I had recommended this place to a friend and went in with him and his bigger dog for their "review process" and it's a joke.
My friend mentioned to them that he didn't know how his dog will act as it was their first time going to a doggy day care. Instead of being cautious and watching the dog's body language, a young worker carelessly took the dog back where all the dogs are and let it go then came back shortly after to say the dog was showing signs of "aggression" and they couldn't take it.
The issue isn't that the dog's personality didn't fit with their style of daycare, but that this could've turned really ugly, really fast. It is extremely dangerous that this business throws a dog into a room with all the other dogs. This is potentially a very stressful and scary situation and this is how fights happen! My friend now takes his dog to a place where they let them play in groups based on personalities so it all worked out for them but I did want to mention this to people considering this day care.

We dropped our dog off there a few weeks ago. We were told he would have to come in for a day to see how he gets along. Things went fine. So we then proceeded to drop him off for a weekend while we went out of town. The next day after leaving, we received a phone call that we needed to come pick him up because he was playing to rough. For supposedly being qualified dog caretakers, I found it absurd that they were calling me while on vacation to get him instead of just handling the situation.

I have mixed feelings about this place. My dog seems happy and tired after being boarded here. He can see out of his kennel which reduces his anxiety. However he has come home with bloody diarrhea and had to be hospitalized recently after being boarded here. Another time his eye was injured. Neither time was anything reported to us that our dog was having problems.

I made an appointment to have my dog taken in to see if he would get along with other dogs as he's never gone to this kind of place. The owner Wendy called me and said that if he didn't get along with the dogs that I would be turned away. I've been in business for a long time and I don't consider this a good way to talk to a prospective customer.
I mean I'm not a refugee fleeing to another country or joining some exclusive club but you wouldn't know that by talking to this woman. You would think she would have enough business acumen to find better language to use to prospective customers. Maybe she was having a bad day, doesn't need my business, or just generally has a bad attitude. There's plenty of boarding around the neighborhood so I think I'll go elsewhere.

Doggie in the Window is a great boarding facility. They have truly gone above and beyond where other facilities have failed. Namely, they have the proper amount of space (both indoor and outdoor) and have handlers who know what they're doing. I only have two gripes: 1. Pricing is weird for Sunday pickups, making it basically as cost-effective to keep your dog there until 9pm on Monday. 2.
During one boarding visit, I was met with the unpleasant surprise of having a premium tacked on to the normal boarding rate. DITW claimed that it was a "peak time". However, I was neither informed what that meant, nor that it would be applied when I made my boarding reservation.

Our dog Zoey loves Doggie in the Window! We take her there for day care as well as boarding. The owners and staff at DITW are wonderful - friendly, knowledgeable, and most of all happy to be there! Zoey plays and plays and plays all day and is pooped when she comes home. I just picked her up from a weekend there and she is curled in a ball on the couch and sleeping.
I know that they take excellent care of all of the dogs and cannot say enough good things. I feel so lucky that we have a place that we can trust to take Zoey when we will be out of town.
