Services
Central Animal Hospital is a well-established, full-service, small animal veterinary hospital providing comprehensive medical, surgical and dental care. The story of Central Animal Hospital began in 1978 when Dr. Richard Stelmach purchased Van Wyk Animal Hospital and renamed it Central Animal Hospital.
Central Animal Hospital is now offering remote healthcare services with TeleVet! With the TeleVet mobile app you can easily send virtual consultation requests to us whenever your pet is sick or injured. To get started, download the TeleVet app on the iTunes or Google Play store and create your personal profile and your pets (pictures encouraged!).
We utilize a variety of anesthetic agents to provide the highest level of safety for your pet. Using the most modern equipment, your patient's vital signs are carefully monitored throughout all anesthetic procedures, and intravenous fluids are given to provide an extra margin of safety. This is especially important for our older or higher-risk patients.
Our state-of-the-art surgical suite and trained staff provide for the performance of a wide variety of surgical procedures. We offer much more than routine sterilization procedures, such as complex mass removals, oral surgeries, foreign body removal, as well as orthopedic surgeries. All of these are complimented by our advanced anesthesia techniques and monitoring equipment.

Took our cat in for her first appt. didn't even do any blood work. After that they gave us expired meds. Seriously? Is it that hard to check if it's expired or not? They had it in a bag that said it didn't expire for a year but on the med itself it said it was expired. Than when I took my car back, they looked at her for 3 min. Than decided that she needed a shot and another med to help. How can you tell! You didn't even look at her long enough to know that her infection is worse and her bumps are worse too! Definitely don't recommend.

Took my boxer for a walk on a late Sunday morning and she had blood in her pee. Took her to this clinic because my regular vet was closed. Got there at 1:30 pm, a half hour before they normally close up, they took her in and examined her. They were kind to me, upfront with cost, and had a diagnosis and treatment plan ready for me so I could take my buddy home. Was very impressed by professionalism and kindness of staff.

Called Sunday to see if Central Animal Hospital could look at my dog's tail. He's been in a lot of pain, and it looks bent, and my dog yelps and cries when he tries to sit or lie down. Happened some time Saturday, and I looked to see who might be willing to take a look at my hurting dog. Central Animal Hospital has Sunday hours, and I figured they were open for these kinds of situations.
Their website states: "we welcome you and your pet to visit us on a walk-in basis". Spoke to Doug on Sunday morning right at 10 when they opened, and he said there was no availability. He asked if I wanted to schedule a visit at the next available appointment which was Tuesday at 2pm, Wednesday at 1pm. Hmmm, I didn't want to wait that long because my dog is in a lot of pain which is why I called Sunday, hoping to get my dog some relief from the pain. DOUG NEVER ASKED ABOUT MY DOG'S CONDITION.
Only looked for the next available appointment. He did not ask one question about my dog's situation, to gauge the importance of care, or offer any suggestions to alleviate the pain while my dog waits days for an appointment. This is what he did ask: "Is your dog being seen here? No, ok then, how about we look to see when the next available appointment is. " Maybe my dog's tail is broken, dislocated, or maybe it is strained.
I don't know, and I am concerned about letting it sit this long. But, please do not make the assumption that Central Animal Hospital cares about the actual animal. They appear to be more interested in filling "appointment time slots" than understanding or evaluating the dog's situation.

Worst experience I ever had. I couldn't adopt an animal from the Humanes society because the head manager (Jessica) couldn't get the information right. She doesn't know how to do her job! So When I asked to talk to the vet he was very unprofessional and gave me the worst attitude. I will never go back and I don't recommend it. There are nice vets out there and he isn't one of them.
He was mean and rude and didn't care how he spoke to me. He told me he would respond to this poor review. For what man? If you can treat me this way I can only imagine how you treat animals!

I had to let my loving cat go to rest as cancer had taken over his body. Dr. Kimberly and her staff treated both my cat and I with compassion and dignity. We were allowed all the time we needed prior to the final procedure, and I was allowed to stay with him as long as necessary afterwards. I would recommend CAH to any caring animal person.

My fiance and I's 11 week old German Shorthair Pointer was bit in the face by a full grown 95 lb dog and so we needed an emergency clinic that was able to see her. We called this clinic and they said they were not able to take my dog because she was not one of their previous clients. If I could give this place a negative rating, I would. I will never recommend this clinic to any other pet owners or take any of my animals here.

The clinic is very disorganized and has had a lot of employee changes. With these changes has come a lot communication errors between the staff which in turn is not good for you or your pet. They forgot to do the senior wellness exam during my dogs annual, which I had to bring my dog back again - and he hates it there. I had Doug Kratt DVM give me incorrect lab results - it's concerning when he is unable to read lab results.
My dog was sick and with the second lab results he was getting worse. Doug Kratt had no concern with this - just recheck in 2 weeks! There were many more errors in this situation. I'm just thankful that Mrs. Kratt DVM gave me the 2nd lab results when I complained that it had been a week and no results yet. I don't think Doug Kratt would have informed me of his worsening state which would have resulted in my dog's death.
The practice is lacking with communication, in house technology and don't carry a full pharmacy. I never had a good feeling taking my dog there and every time I voiced concerns about my dog it was blown off with his comment of "its probably just this or that".
