Marion Humane Society The Marion-Grant County Humane Society is a nonprofit organization on a mission to save more lives. We are always searching for new ways to do fundraisers and to get more of our "kids" to safe and loving homes or rescue groups. We need your help in controlling the pet overpopulation, in turn our overcrowding issue, and can only be done with responsible pet ownership.

This entails keeping your animals at your home and getting them spayed or neutered. It seems like the struggles of the Humane Society will never end and we know there are a lot of friends out there that promises when they win the lottery they will take care of all the animals but until then we have to once again ask for help on a smaller scale.

UPDATE: Our little buddy who had the yarn tied around his leg resulting in the horrible disfigurement of his paw has come through surgery with flying colors. His leg did not have to be amputated as was an initial possibility. He had his dew claw amputated, and a lot of the skin on the inside of his leg was removed.
Always looking for more people to help us transport our animals to safe rescues in other states or within Indiana. Help with medical needs of specific animal, including spaying/neutering, heartworm check, etc.

I went there 8 days ago to adopt a puppy, filled out the application and everything and they gave the dog to someone else. Very disappointed

There are many great dogs here but they really need more funding for a bigger space.

Everyone here is super friendly and the animals have a really nice life here and are taken very well care of! Always adopt rather than buy

Worst ran shelter I've seen my entire life. Zero organization terrible living conditions for the animals cages way too small which is a form of abuse on its own. The woman who runs it has the worst social skills I've ever dealt with. Constantly makes excuses for her failures. you ask a question she gets defensive amd does everything but answer the question then criticizes you for being homest. Makes you feel as if the situation many were in was better than the current one.

This place needs new people to run it. You also shouldn't be able to deny someone because they told you the truth amd it hurts her feelings, but that's exactly the kind of place it is. I think she's racist being the way I was treated the second I walked in. Things definitely need to change starting with the person that runs it needs to be gone.pepple that actually care for the animals and puts in the extra time to make sure they live in sanitary conditions.

A person can get toxemia breathing the disgusting air filled with urine and feces. I know multiple places with less staff ran 1000 times better amd you smell zero fecal matter in the air. Poor animals sleep with it and that's not how a rescue place that cares would allow it to be!

Worst experience of pet adoption in my life. Worst ran humane society in the United States hands down. They have no phone for 2 weeks ignore thier online applications then for telling them the truth or making a suggestion they told me I couldn't adopt thier because the person who runs its personal feelings were hurt because they can't handle truth.

Don't try to push a returned aggressive dog that's basically grown to someone that applied for a puppy and said specific breeds. Just ignore everything in detail they said. Every humane society and business is short staffed including my work but I don't make excuses and suggest people looking to adopt drive 5 hours out of state to volunteer when that's not my goal.

So you have to volunteer to adopt? That makes no sense. Get off your butt and work harder. It's pretty simple.phones are cheap and going 2 weeks without one I an epic failure on the person in charge and nobody else. The person who runs it is judgmental and terrible towards people and does not deserve to be in charge of animals they can't tend to properly in the first place. Go anywhere but here and you will have a great experience.

Nice support for the community and animals. Great place love the sweet natured ladies running the show here too. Very knowledgeable. Thank you for giving care to my dogs when I couldn't. They are not a kennel though you will have to pay and adopt your animal if you drop them off. But they give them their shots, tags, allergy medications, spade or neutered, feed and water them, keep them separate and safe, make them part of the family, and bathe them. Again, Thank you very much.
