Fen is a 1.5 spayed female. She is described by her foster as sweet and loves affection. She is currently in a home with both cats and dogs and would do well in a home with dogs as well as mellow kitties. As a kitten, Fen had one of her kidneys removed. She is thriving currently but could potentially need kidney medications as she gets older.

Dr. Kleiman was very kind, very informative and quick to answer my questions. Samet is a very very knowledgeable young man and the information he has provided me set my mind at ease. I feel truly comfortable & appreciative that my Gizmo is in Terrific hands for all his health needs. Thank you to both of them for all they are doing to help Gizmo overcome his thyroid & kidney issues. P.S. they were sweet with Gizmo - I am sorry Gizmo was a bit grumpy Sincerely, Lisa Rizzo & Gizmo

Our poor cat has suffered from allergies for a while and I decided to give Chico Hospital for Cats a try. The doctor and staff were great. The doctor gave me lots of useful information about cat allergies and explained the why and how of treatment. Happy to say that after following her recommendations, our little feline is doing great. If you are a cat owner, Chico Hospital for Cats is the place to go for your cat's health care.

If I could leave a million stars I would! We had the most frightening experience thinking we were losing our baby, Tux. He is young so we were beside ourselves. His Vet is Dr Vekman. She is the most compassionate and dedicated feline veterinarian we have yet to come by. She treats all her patients like she would her own. She has the compassion for the family dealing with a new and scary diagnosis.

In our case it was diabetes and pancreatitis for our Tux. She takes the time and goes beyond the call of duty to guide and teach you every step of the way. If there is something she can't figure out with your kitty, she WILL find someone who can! You want the best Vet for your Cat, Dr Kaarin Vekman is who you want. I am certain all the staff is just as wonderful, but she is who we have been with since this happened with our own kitty.

I first brought our daughter's cat Daisy in a couple times a few years ago when she moved up here for college and our positive experience then is what sold us on where we wanted to bring our own cats when we retired up here.

After rushing my kitten to 3 other vets. Chico Animal hospital knew what was wrong with him. I would highly recommend them to anybody that loves their cats.

If I could give 10000 stars to Dr. Vekman, I would. Thank you for your kind heart and gentle hand, your knowledge and helpfulness. There is NO vet in the world like her. You will be impressed regardless of the reason of the visit. here I felt safe to express my concerns and knew that I was not judged for any questions I had. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the support with my old boy.

I've been taking my kitties to Chico Hospital for cats for over 25 years. I always feel confident that I'm getting the best service and treatment available (I'll add "anywhere " to that). The staff cares and you can really tell that they are devoted to Cats. I wouldn't think of going anywhere else.

I had just moved to chico and at 1rst thought this kitty was a feral until I realized it was either lost or abandoned and worst of all it had been declawed! But the sweetest guy ever. I brought him into garage and fed him for a week trying to navigate the system here. No help. I and the kitty got lucky. The Chico hospital for cats staff stepped in to help me care for him as it was an unusual yet desperate situation and ended up finding his 4ever home! They truly care.

They recently treated our cat for hyperthyroidism. They were very informative, friendly and responsive. If we lived closer (we're 2 hours away) we would make this our veterinary office.

Fantastic veterinary practice with friendly and extremely helpful staff! I brought one of my cats in for the iodine-131 treatment and they were informative of the whole process, made sure my cat was 100% healthy to go through the treatment, and they even provide web camera access to check in on your cat during their week-long stay. We've also brought two other cats in and they handled both with ease. We've made the decision to transfer to Chico Hospital for Cats as our primary vet for all 3 cats. I fully recommend them and we look forward to being long time customers!

One of the most compassionate pet hospitals I've ever encountered. As other reviewers have mentioned, I appreciate how this clinic caters to only cats. The staff seem to be very in-tune with felines and I'd argue that they may be something of a "cat whisperer." I'd bring my cat in and he would be so at ease in their care. He's not the best in new environments but always seemed to consider Chico Hospital for Cats as a second home of sorts.

The clinic is large and very clean. It's decorated nicely and parking is always available in back though the lot is on the smaller side. It's on the outskirts of town but on a busy corner so is easy to spot. I had made a move from Chico to Santa Barbara and was more than a little terrified about transporting my cat those 500 miles. When I went to this clinic, the staff made the transition process so easy.

They provided me with the necessary paperwork to give to the new veterinarian, and they also gave me a few complimentary wipes to rub on his kennel which would act as a sedative. Sure enough, the wipes did their job as he was calm nearly the entire trip. Such a good boy. I'm grateful to have had Chico Hospital for Cats provide wonderful care for my kitty. Highly recommended if you're in search of a quality, caring clinic.

Love this place. Took my 14 year old cat in and they tested her gently, gave her a thorough exam and were super nice to me, too. I also really like that they focus on cats only--so I know they're cat lovers and will do what's best for her.

This is the warmest most compassionate veterinary hospital i have ever been involved with. I had taken my precious kitty Dixie to them for all of her health needs. They treated her as if she were their own. Dixie was a healthy kitty until the last year of her life when she developed kidney disease. I had to make a dreadful decision a month ago and she was put to sleep.

They helped me through a very rough time and treated her with such love. She lived 18 years and part of that was made possible by their extraordinary health care. I will take every kitty that comes into my life to Chico Hospital for Cats. I suggest everyone do the same. I think you will be pleased.

I took my cat to Chico Hospital for Cats for I-131 Radiodine Therapy. The first time I spoke to Sam I knew he cared for my cat and my peace of mind. He has always been very quick to respond to my emails or phone calls. I met Dr. C., the veterinary physician, when I dropped off my cat. She suggested I have another T4 test to be sure she knew what dose of the I-131 my cat would need. I'm so glad she did because my cat had gotten much worse! (I had taken my cat to another clinic a month earlier but she did not recover as she should have.) If Dr. C. had not done the test again I fear my cat would have died.

I was able to get my cat in quickly and she received excellent care. I know because I could watch her through a camera video link! That gave me great comfort. My cat is home now and awaiting her next visit to my vet for follow-up testing. Dr. C. will continue to follow up with my vet to determine any next steps in her recovery. I firmly believe that I would not have my cat now if it were not for Chico Hospital for Cats. I'm looking forward to many more years with my precious little girl. I would recommend Chico Hospital for Cats to everyone. Don't settle for second best!

My cat needed to be seen and POOF! there we were. Even during these craziest of times - in and out! Masks, gloves, pick-up and drop-off. The hard part is not being able to stay with my very senior kitty - 21 years old. But believe she has the best of care. Thank you Dr. Waller and staff. I was a regular at River City Cat Vet in Sacramento for many years. Thankful to have found a replacement. My four-footed friend is happy!

I really thought they were amazing. They showed genuine care and concern for my cat, and called her by name. They made sure to do a thorough examination, and the doctor was very knowledgeable about what is to be expected. They sent me home with a clear plan of action, and medications that helped my cat heal. They were attentive and called to check up throughout the next 3 days, to get updates about Stella. (that is my cats name) They also were patient with my young daughter, who came along with me.

They saw us right away when we arrived. They also emailed me all records and treatments, as well as test results. They took the time to explain everything and every medication. I'm happy to report that, thanks to Chico Hospital for Cats, my cat Stella has made a full and total recovery from her mysterious illness. Thank you, Chico Hospital for Cats!

I wish I had brought my Snickers here instead of VCA on Dr. Martin Luther King Blvd she may still alive. VCA ran all kinds of bills up and still did not know what was wrong with her (twice I went there) Well long story short bring your cat to the Chico Hospital for Cats, they do know there business. VCA just stood there with a stupid look on their faces, like we don't know. Assh____! My cat would still be alive today. I had to put her to sleep today and I am really pissed off at VCA. BRING YOUR CATS TO CHICO CAT HOSPITAL!

I absolutely urge you NOT to bring your cats here. They are money hungry and do not give two shits about your animals. IF I COULD GIVE A ZERO I WOULD. I brought my cat here and she was with this clinic since last year. Not only did the staff always make me and my family feel bad for everything that we did to take care of my kitty, they misdiagnosed my baby with kidney failure and we've been treating her for the wrong disease for almost a year now.

I took her to regular checkups and they always forced labs and medicine on us. We had pet insurance through them and now that my cat is dying peacefully at home, I asked to cancel the payment plan. They didn't even so much as say they were sorry or acknowledge that she was dying, but made sure to tell me that I better pay my remaining balance on the plan. DO NOT give this place your business.

Those who work there are not passionate about saving and taking good care of your cats/kitties. They charge outrageous fees that aren't covered by their pet insurance (90$ a month) AND they push treatments without proof that something is actually wrong.

Love that it's a feline-only facility. I don't have to worry about the additional stress of hearing dogs in the waiting room. At my first visit I didn't have to wait. i arrived about 10 min before my appointment time, and we were taken into a room immediately. The vet was very gentle with my cat, and she provided as stress-free of an experience as she could.

My kitty had a sore throat, and she recommended a treatment that was not oly affordable, but appropriate for his condition. We set him up with all his vaccinations and had his tested for leukemia. At the end of the day the bill was easy to understand, and reasonable. Maybe it was a little more than other places, but for the convenience of having a feline-only facility I'd gladly pay the difference.

I have taken my cat to this vet several times because this is where his previous owners took him. In the beginning i felt as if they made me feel bad because I let my cat go outside at times. Also experienced them pushing for treatments that i felt were unnecessary. I think they have a good boarding facility and have used it several times. The last time i took my 16 year old cat here was for shots, yearly exam, etc.

I witnessed the vet techs be extremely rough with him. They asked if i wanted to go in the back with them to observe. What i observed was three techs trying to hold my cat down and one holding onto one of his back legs why the cat kicked and the tech said to my cat to stop or you will pull your leg out of the socket. Next was a urine test where my cat was laid on his spine on a metal table where he cried in pain.

They then said that they should have gotten the spine pillow. Which was what he or any cat would need! When my cat was brought back in the room he was limping. I said something to the vet and she said he was probably just sore from the vaccines. $400 later. Next day cat was still limping. Next day after that the cats back leg was so swollen and painful.

It was the weekend and i left a message on their phone about what was going on. Sam called me the next day and said to take him to Valley Oak because they are 24 hours. Valley Oak had to xray his leg to determine if anything was broken. Then they found a mass on the inside of his leg by his groin that was obvious and should have been felt in an exam three days earlier.

After a test was done on the mass they determined it had inflammatory cells likely from trauma and some cancerous cell. Surgeon looked at the area and said leg would have to be amputated which was way too risky for a cat his age. I was given pain meds and within a month my cat had to be put down. I feel the vet SHOULD have felt the mass in a physical exam and yet did not palpate the area The techs were so rough and i believe the mass was made larger because of it. My cat is gone and i will never have any cat seen there again.

Let me start by saying that I actually left thinking they were helpful, but pricey. Here's why. 1. when I called to make the appointment for my cat I asked how much the visit was going to be, I was told $65 for a visit. Towards the end of the visit I'm getting a break down of everything they think my cat needs and the visit price went to $70 because in their eyes he's ill.

So ill visits are $70. Usually when you take your pet to a vet its because you think something is wrong or they need their shots. Just saying. 2. After asking what type of food my cat eats (canned or dry) I was told my cat is lacking in protein all because he eats dry food. Well he doesn't like can and the dry food I give my cats is 38% in protein so they're wrong. 3.

I went in originally because my cat started to bald and meow A LOT the past week, turns out he has flea, okay no biggy I'll take care of it. This other lady comes in adds everything to my bill assuming I'm going to get all the things they THINK he needs. Almost $200 later. No thanks. So we take off everything I think he doesn't need and decide to do the flea treatment (he's very sensitive to medicine and I told them that in the past he was allergic to some flea medicine).

They assured me this one is safe and said he shouldn't have any reaction to it. The lady goes back into the back room and in case they don't know, their back room has paper thin walls and i could hear their whole conversation, she mentioned how i don't have money and then goes on about how she needs the flea treatment and shot, few minutes later she comes back.

I ignore what I just heard because I do have money, I work two jobs 60 hours a week to live the life I have. Not wanting to spend $200 on my cat had nothing to do with money, its the fact that i can get the SAME thing for cheaper somewhere else and especially after hearing that I wasn't going to give them anymore of my money. Next day, where they gave him the flea medicine he is now bald.

I call and leave a message, they call me back today and not ONCE did they apologize but just kept saying its very rare that they have a reaction to this medicine, i get that it doesn't happen often BUT regardless, if it was possible i should have been told. especially since he's super sensitive to flea medicine. What upsets me the most is that I wasn't warned that it could happen, & when I called about it all I was told was "its very rare" she just kept repeating that it was rare like that solved everything.

I get that, it still happened, i still should have been warned and now i feel like i went in because he's balding and I paid over $100's to make him bald even more. I will not be going back. & for future an apology goes a LONG way.

Five stars! Why has it taken me so long to bring my kitty here for care? My senior cat was brought in with an eye infection, but they took great care of him and also recommended blood work and a tooth cleaning. Our vet made sure to show me the areas on my cat that needed care. I never felt like I was a "paycheck, " unlike my experiences at some other vets in town.

I had previously brought him to valley oak here in town, and they never recommended a blood panel or teeth cleaning for my 11-yo cat. In hindsight, I'm kind of horrified. Also, at the hospital for cats our vet (Lisa) visited with us for about a half hour. I saw the hurried valley oak vet for less than 10 minutes. The interior is very welcoming&clean, the staff are kind, and it's the first vet office I've ever visited that didn't have a yucky overwhelming disinfectant smell. If you have a cat--this is the place!

Having a building that's cats-only is a big plus if you have a cat who's at all nervous or shy. At Chico Hospital for Cats, there's an office cat who wanders about freely, and other customers with cats held or in their carriers. No yappy dogs allowed. In addition to vet services, they offer grooming services. There's also a small store with various treats, toys, and medicines.

The staff is very patient and helpful. They let me go in with my cats when I went in for a trimming, as I asked for help in learning to do it myself. They spent extra time, using my own trimmer and carefully demonstrating how not to trim too far, how to tell when it was time for a trimming, and how to hold my cats in a calming but secure fashion. In the end they didn't charge for anything more than the trimming. I've never felt rushed in the five times I've been here, nor have I had to wait for very long. Bookings seem accurate, with the staff attending within a few minutes of the appointment time.

This is as rare for vets as it is for people doctors. I glanced at their computer while my two cats in, and I saw that they'd annotated their records with "good kitty." :3
