Services
While our shelter is not open to casual public visits, Adoptions are BY APPOINTMENT ONLY after approved application. We have moved most of our available cats to PetSmart in Santa Maria. We ask that you visit them at their location on Bradley Road and fill out an application right in the store or bring a printed application with you.
Adoption is nearly always the better financial choice when compared to purchasing from a store or breeder. In addition to being a good financial choice, our goal is to always find a good match for both the pet and the adopter. This results in matches that are significantly more likely to succeed for both your household and the animal.
Did you know that dental disease is the most common disease of dogs and cats? About 85% of pets have dental disease by three years of age. This condition can lead to severe pain, bone infection, and internal organ disease. Regular home care and professional treatment are the best means of preventing and combating this problem.

I love this place! Everyone is so great! Even the manager, Julie, talked me through how to properly introduce my new kittens to my dog and even made sure I understood their vaccines. All of their animals were very well taken care of. Great customer service with a smile. I recommend this place to everyone!

Fantastic place, we've rescued two lovely dogs from here. The people are great and the animals are well looked after in a clean and happy environment. They are reasonably priced compared to some rescues too. There is plenty of space out back for dogs to run around and they always have access to the outside in the day time.

Over the years, I've been in and out of SYV Humane Society several times. The staff are always friendly and professional. The animals are well cared-for and social. I especially love the indoor/outdoor cat room, which allows me to meet cats on their own terms. When my last cat died, this was the first place I looked. They were great cats, but you know how it goes.
None of them (this time!) had the special pull on my heartstrings. They are one of the smallest Humane Societies in Santa Barbara County - but they've grown a lot! Techniques, technology, the latest in behavioral work - they either have it or are working on it.
