The Cat Practice is proud to serve the Oak Park IL area for everything pet related. Our veterinary clinic and animal hospital is run by Dr. Lori Coughlin, who is a licensed, experienced Oak Park veterinarian. Our team is committed to educating our clients in how to keep your pets healthy year round, with good nutrition and exercise.
Dr Lori was graduated from Kansas State Veterinary College in 1993 and worked at Oak Knoll Animal Hospital in Moline, IL, from 1993-1995, and at The Cat Practice with Dr. Malin from 1995-1998. She was an associate vet at Arlington Cat Clinic until purchasing The Cat Practice. She is excited to be back with her Cat Practice family and friends and is enjoying seeing her clients and updating the look of the clinic. She has been married to her husband Mike since 1995, and they live close by with their cats and a large aquarium of cichlids.

This practice is amazing. Today, I called right before closing because I need urinary food for my baby, and Ruth took the time to process my order over the phone, and leave it next door with cleaners because I was not going to make it there by 1 pm. I appreciate them so much! They care about cats and their well being. Always helpful with answering questions!

I love this cat vet. Both of my cats have been seen there now and I love how good they are with the cats and very thorough in explaining everything in the appointment. I feel that they are honest and they are not trying to take advantage of you and your wallet as I have felt in so many other vet practices. Highly recommend

The staff did not even try to learn my kitten's preferences or make him comfortable. He responds eagerly to food, and even enjoys catnip. I explained this to the staff and packed treats and catnip for the staff to use. It was important to me that he learns to love the vet. But they didn't utilize them. Instead, he screamed bloody murder for the whole exam as the staff forcibly handled him.
When I demanded them to stop so that we could leave, the vet sent a nurse to waste my time so that she could still charge me full price and avoid speaking with me herself. Absolutely shameful behavior by these people! My kitten is now *terrified* of the vet because of the horrible treatment he received by the staff. If your cat is older and easy to handle, this might be the fine place for you. But if you have a kitten or have a cat that just needs extra attention and patience, DO NOT GO HERE.

I cannot say enough positive things about this place. Ruth, Rachele, Jacob, Dr. Lori - every member of the staff I've ever encountered here has been dedicated to the health, happiness, and safety of my cats. These people CARE. Dr. Lori is always on, emailing results, answering questions, etc. And they are good with anxious cat moms like myself. Knowledgeable, approachable, kind, loving.it's a great place, the best place I've been for my cats.

You will not find any other vet for cats better than this practice. Dr. Lori is so very gentle and loving. She treats every cat like they are her own. Her staff is phenomenal. They go over and beyond to make your experience pleasant. This is a "home" away from home for your cat. I highly recommend taking your cat here as you will not be disappointed. They are an example of how a successful business is run because they put the customer first and care deeply for their animals.
