Veronica is a sweet person! BUT please be aware she is no longer in the dog training business due to personal/health issues. Yelp has yet to remove her business from this category, so if you are going to reach her regarding dog training or behavioral consultation, just save her the headache of telling you she can't do it anymore, and do not call her! She will, however, recommend allaboutdogsinc.com if you are in the fairfax area.

Veronica is an all around amazing person, trainer, and behaviorist. She handles her clients in a way that shows how genuinely she wants to help you solve the problem you're encountering. She is not in it to keep you coming back and spending money, she just wants to help you and your family have a great experience with your pet. Veronica gave us a great training routine for our dog, Edith (a mixed breed rescue) to assist with her separation anxiety. Edith has made a ton of progress and continues to get better daily. We're still in touch with Veronica via email and she continues to offer great advise. I would book with Veronica and Cooperative Paws again in a heart beat.

If you have found Veronica, there's no need to search any more. As a first time dog owner, I adopted a four month old puppy and promptly sprained my ankle severely two days later. On crutches (and later in a boot), I felt confident for about a week until all 20-25 of my books on dogs started to fail me miserably. There's really nothing like experience, and Veronica has plenty of that. Additionally, she responded very quickly to my phone call (after five accidents in one day and ferocious puppy nipping, I was desperate).
Her prices are EXTREMELY reasonable (especially in the D.C. area) for the quality of training and AKC certification (contingent on at home follow up), as well as she is a lovely person! Training was fun to go to for me and Teddy, who now has his AKC Puppy STAR. She has worked with ATF and DHS, and is a POSITIVE dog trainer, which is critically important, as I knew I wanted to train positively but did not completely understand the consequences of using a shock collar (Veronica explained the why using data from scientific studies). TL;DR - work with Veronica, as she is a phenomenal person as well as a great dog trainer.
She helped me train my dog incredibly well (we get compliments all the time, people always think he's older than he is) and also helped me to manage being a first time dog owner. I recommend her to everyone I know.

Veronica has a gift! She's incredibly smart and understands human behavior as well as animal behavior, which is essential as 'dog' training is really 'people' training. We brought our labrador puppy to her at 4 months of age and after 3 classes, our puppy has demonstrated such tremendous progress and has surprised us numerous times with her cognitive ability. We knew labs were smart, but to start training early with Veronica will be the best thing we've done.and highly recommended!

Veronica is an amazing dog trainer and behaviorist. Although I am an experienced handler, my adopted shepherd/border collie mix, Lucas, was far more challenging than any dog I've had. Veronica taught me how to channel his intense energy and appreciate his extreme intellect, which was at the core of his behavior issues. As a result of working with Veronica, Lucas earned his advanced tricks title and became a star pupil in advanced rally obedience.
People frequently stop me on the street to comment on my dog's attentiveness and manners! Most importantly, Lucas is now a fabulous companion and I have grown to appreciate his quirks as part of his unique personality. We are very grateful for Veronica's patience and sense of humor. Thank you, Veronica!
