Colorado Dog Academy believes in the "Wolf Pack Theory". All dogs share the wolf as their ancestor, therefore domestic dogs have a natural packing instinct. The family becomes the dog's pack. Our dog daycare helps you, the dog owner, understand how to communicate to your dog that you are the pack leader through training and daily interaction.
At Colorado Dog Academy, we have individual-indoor/outdoor runs so that the dogs may go in and out all day as they please, and are closed indoors at nighttime and during severe weather in Broomfield, CO. The insides and outsides of the kennels are hosed out once per day and the waste is removed four times per day.
Colorado Dog Academy Inc. welcomes dogs (and their owners) from throughout the greater Broomfield, CO area. Come to us for dog daycare and training classes, and anything else your beloved pup needs to be well. We promise an environment that's comfortable and accommodating for them, managed by compassionate staff who cares deeply about every dog's wellbeing. Come see our facilities for yourself and take a tour! We're just north of the Hobby Lobby shopping complex at 120th Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard.

My Frenchie Stitch is a different dog! I'm so pleased with all he has learned from the board and train program and the value of it was insane! Thank you all so much!

These guys are amazing! i took my 100 pound puppy to them to get trained. she was impossible to control before they worked with her. after 1 month they were able to get her to walk on a leash, sit, stay and basically be a perfect dog! they are always available to answer questions anytime i call and always very friendly and professional. i would highly recommend them for any kind of dog training or boarding. thank you guys so much for fixing my dog!

We took our black Labrador here for the 4-week boarding and training program and had an amazing experience! He is SO much better - especially with his leash manners. They were also very kind and patient when I called nearly 2-3x a week to check-in on him and always took the time to give me a detailed update. We were recommended here by a friend and would definitely recommend anyone in the Denver/CO area here!

Nick trained our GSD Zeus at 17 weeks when he came back at 21 weeks he was definitely a different pup. Even at such a young age he is so well behaved. He is currently 6 months old & has such a great temper with humans and dogs! Highly recommend Colorado Dog Academy, from the beginning we were treated like family! Nick is the go to man! Alyssa was super sweet! Thank you so much everyone! Will be going to group classes as well.

We absolutely LOVE Colorado Dog Academy Kyle has been the best trainor to our dogs and anytime we board our dogs they love it We have been going to CDA for over 8 years and we have NEVER had an issue. We have referred many people to them and everyone has been extremely satisfied! My sister uses them for boarding her two Dobermans and they are always well taken care of. We highly recommend this facility for training and boarding your dog.

I have taken every dog I have owned here for 30 something years. They have always worked with me, been honest, and have done amazing with all my dogs. Even my stubborn dog Morpheus who was a handful! I will always come here and will always recommend Colorado DOD academy!

My husband and I had construction happening on our house after a hot water heater leaked and ruin first floor, we had just gotten a puppy and were hopping from air b n b one to the next which made training really difficult while we were displaced and didn't know how long everything would take/dealing with insurance. We enrolled koko in their one month program (they squeezed her in due to our dire situation) to help while we got settled.

I can't say enough good things about Colorado dog academy, both Patrick, pat and all the trainers. We were brought to tears today when we picked up koko. She was SO well trained. Able to walk on the lease, sit, lie down, house trained. We cannot thank you enough for taking such good care of our baby this month and training her! We feel so blessed and will definitely be back for group sessions and continue to use them! Thank you thank you thank! Can't say enough good things!

Please do not take your dog here. I chose this training facility because it was a family owned and run establishment for many many years. I thought my dog would be well cared for, I was wrong. I took my 4 year old French Bulldog in for a month long training and boarding. He has now been home for 3 weeks. He was not cared for properly. I called every week to check on him, I was told by the staff and even Kyle that he was doing great.

He adjusted very quickly to being there and was easy to train because he was food driven. I was told this by Kyle himself. Each time my husband or myself called we were told he was doing great. 2 weeks into training, I spoke to Kyle (the owner and my dogs main trainer) again I was told he was doing great, that he was a great dog and showing none of the issues I had brought him in for.

I was told by Kyle that if he had problems when he got home that Kyle would take him as his personal dog. This was never even a thought, we brought him in for training to have him be a better member of our family not to get rid of him. We went to pick him up after the 4 week program. We did a short class and went home. Upon getting him home we noticed his harness was hanging off him.

His spine was visible once we took the harness off, he also tried to bark and had no sound. I weighted him and our 30lb very fit Frenchie had lost 8 lbs in 4 weeks. I called Kyle and asked him what happened. Kyle's response was that he just wouldn't eat and was not food driven. I told Kyle that every time I called he himself said he was eating great. Kyle told me that he didn't notice he was loosing weight, I mentioned that his harness was very loose and Kyle said "well I did tighten it down a few times" DOESNT THAT TELL YOU HE IS LOOSING WEIGHT?

I also told Kyle that he had no voice, he said well he must have barked a lot. So his main trainer doesn't know if he barked a lot or not and didn't notice a dog loosing almost a third of his body weight. I was told by another trainer that they have up to 105 dogs at a time, that they can't know everything about every dog. I was lied to every time I called, my dog was not cared for, I was not alerted to him not eating and even 3 weeks later he still has no voice.

I have written 2 letters to The Academy and have received zero response. I am completely dissatisfied and disappointed in The Colorado Dog Academy, I would plead with anyone to not take their dog their, they are not properly cared for and you will be lied to by the owner.

We brought our Old English Sheepdog puppy, who is extremely rambunctious, for a 4-week training at the Colorado Dog Academy. He is calmer now, understands and follows simple commands. He doesn't jump on people anymore, bark at our neighbors and other dogs, and is excellent on a leash! I am beyond excited and impressed. I highly recommend this place!

Colorado Dog Academy is awesome! We just picked up our Cleo after they had her for over a month for training and boarding and they did such an amazing job! Dan trained our family today on how to be good parents to Cleo and now we have such a wonderful, well-behaved dog. She knows all sorts of commands and is really a totally different dog then when we dropped her off last month!

To all the staff at Colorado Dog Academy, you exceeded our expectations! Thank you so much. We are now lifelong fans of your great company and are looking forward to our follow up training sessions with our new dog!

We have gone to Pat and Dianne for years and years! I've had MANY dogs trained there! They've never let me down or disappointed. I again have a Doberman puppy training there right now these dogs are a handful but Colorado Dog Academy has got her working great for a four month puppy. It's a lot about training the owner of the pet! I cant rate them any higher or I would! Pat and Dianne has got two grown children that knows the dog world very well too! I would NEVER take my dogs anywhere else!

I would give them zero stars if I could. We had our 2 dogs (Bear & Stella) there for the 4 week board & train. We dropped them off on a Friday afternoon, and was told to give them a few days to get adjusted, but then i could call for updates. I waited as long as i could, but i was worried about my babies and by Sunday afternoon i had to call. I was told "they haven't asked about you".

I laughed assuming he was giving me a hard time, but would still provide an update. I got nothing.he said to give them a few days. We had contacted them several times during the first week to find out how our dogs were doing. We let them know we were concerned about Stella after seeing her picture posted (a week into training). She was sitting on her tail, which she has never done before.

We were told that she was nervous and that was normal for danes. We were told they were doing fine. 10 days into training she had aspirated her own vomit and was found septic and unconscious. They took her to the emergency vet, but she couldn't be saved. They never informed us she was sick, they didn't do anything until it was too late. She was only 8 months old.

I believe if she would have gotten the care she needed.it wouldn't have gotten to that point. We immediately went to pick up Bear and my husband was handed a check and told we had a good looking lab. They also paid our vet bills, then went on to block us from communicating with them. They knew they were at fault. But, the money can't make up for the loss of a life.

One that could have been prevented if it weren't for their neglect. We got Bear home and found he was also sick and is on medication. It wasn't until after this tragedy that I found other reviews with similar situations of dogs getting sick, owners not being notified. Please don't bring your babies there. Its not worth the risk.

My crazy lab mix puppy spent a month at the Academy and it really helped. Now she goes when we travel and it's comforting to know she is fine. Also sent my Pitt mix (recent rescue), very pleased!

Definitely not worth $1500 I paid. When I called to inquire about the dog training I was told my dog would be fully trained within the month and that classes were offered for free for the lifetime of the dog no one ever told me that I would have to go every week for additional training. I was referred by the Arvada Doggy Den Shame on them

Fantastic Grooming service. My only regret is I didn't try them sooner. Mika my Siberian Husky came out looking like a million bucks and they actually properly trimmed her nails which other groomers haven't done thus far. She loved her spa day and her coat is so soft and undercoat blowed out feels much cooler.

This used to be the best place to take your dog grooming, but now the worst. Did they change owners? We used to drop our dogs off for grooming at 8am. Today my appt to drop off was at 10:30am. I do not drive. They did not have me down for an appt after getting stares from 4 different women like it was my fault. Then the groomer came out mad. I said he would be fine as soon as I left as he is very protective.

Small dog mind you. So since they didn't have him scheduled I asked if they could just do the face, bottom and nails. It was agreed. The groomer acted like it was our fault for being there and took it out on my dog by DRAGGING HIM ON THE FLOOR BY THE LEASH AROUND HIS NECK AND COULDN'T HAVE CARED LESS. All the women were snotty and rude. I have taken 4 different dogs there over the past 20 years. Not anymore. I left in tears and they're probably laughing about it.

Hands down the BEST place to board your dog, not to mention their training program where they work miracles! They actually care about your dog and their well being. There's a reason they've been in business for 40+ years, the best dog professionals around

I was really excited to go here because my parents had taken one of our dogs here in the past and he was probably the best mannered dog we've had! I had also read reviews and heard great things from friends. I arrived early after an hour drive from my house. My consultation went really well (despite the trainers snobbish attitude) and I bought everything he suggested.

I even stopped giving my dog carrots because he said they were bad for her- my vet told me later that they are actually very good for dogs. I then arrived early again for my dogs first training session a week later (10 minutes at most) and went to the same place I was told to wait before. When I walked in the trainer was with another client and was unnecessarily rude to me.

He asked if he could help me in a very condescending tone and then told me to wait outside the building. I waited until my appointment time and then a few minutes after while the dogs in the kennels were going bonkers. I left soon after and decided my money would be better spent somewhere that would be a bit nicer to me. I felt that my money was better spent somewhere that had more respect for me. It was an honest mistake!

I adopted my rescue, Bear, in August after he was neglected for at least a year of his life. He had some behavioral issues and needed some structure, so we decided to do the 4 week boarding and training with a grooming session at the end. Everything went perfect and now we have the best companion and hiking buddy around! Thanks CO Dog Academy!

This is the worst place in Colorado to take your dog too - for anything. In March and April of this year we had our golden doddle at their boarding school to get trained- I don't believe they did a thing to train this dog. The only thing she can do is what we taught her prior to her going to any school for a month they kept telling us that she was coming along fine When in reality (I truly believe ) they just kept her in a cage and did nothing. We spend $1,200 with these people and got zero from them RIP-OFF They hear from our lawyer.

I have brought my dog here to be groomed a number of times now. Let me just say I couldn't be more satisfied every single time! We had a couple bad experiences with groomers and I was weary of trying any other places. With the help of all the reviews on yelp and some word of mouth I tried the Colorado Dog Academy and I will never go any where else now.

The employees really enjoy their jobs and there is no question about how good they are to the dogs. The prices for grooming and daycare are very reasonable and if you check in you get a $5 off coupon! My dog and I love this place, he always comes home very happy and VERY clean

This is hands down the best Dog training/ boarding facility in all of Colorado. They have not only trained our dogs but they also take care of our fur babies when we are out of town. These guys rock and it's clear they are amazing due to how excited our dogs get when we pull up to the facility. Super clean, and awesome set up. The training is worth every penny.

We have referred many of our friends and family members here and they are always 100% satisfied. We will forever support Colorado dog Academy and will always send our pups there when we need them.

I just cannot say enough good things about boarding my dog here. These people know and love my dog by name. They almost always found a way to fit her in for boarding, even at the last minute. My dog got to the point that she was just as excited to be dropped off there as she was to have me come pick her up, and dogs don't lie! My Harley (Cairn Terrier) had to be put to sleep earlier this year, and it was a loss of a family member, to be sure. I'm so grateful to have had the chance to work with the wonderful people at Colorado Dog Academy! LOVE them!

I am amazed at the number of positive reviews for this organization. I'm a pretty easygoing guy -- not hard to please at all -- but must confess that I found the training methods employed here to be deplorable at best, and abusive at worst. First, they collect all fees up front and offer unlimited training. Seems like a good idea, unless you don't like what they do, in which case, you have no recourse.

More importantly, however, they were very abusive to my dog. For example, they put him on a long leash, tossed out a treat, and told him to go get it. The leash was too short, and his neck was jerked back abruptly as he was running at full speed and reached the leash's end. The force caused him to yelp sharply in pain. Moreover, the trainers were rather discourteous on several occasions, and outright disrespectful to my wife.

These guys seem to think that they're drill sergeants, and customers (after all fees have been paid) are newly drafted privates. I STRONGLY URGE ANYONE CONSIDERING SUBJECTING A DOG TO THIS TYPE OF TRAINING TO RECONSIDER! And, if you think I'm just a crank or a primadonna, look at my other reviews. I almost never give negative reviews for anything.

This is the exception! BEWARE! Note: After reading the owner's response, below, I have decided to update my review. First, the owner did indeed try to contact me, and I have no interest in responding to him/her. Secondly, my wife and I were indeed clients. Given that I have not chosen to reveal my last name, it is not surprising that they cannot find me in their records. Finally, the owner's assertion that my description of events and policies is in any way untruthful is both dishonest and offensive.

I stand by the statements above as an accurate, objective account of my experience with Colorado Dog Academy. You, the reader, must ultimately be the judge, of course, but keep in mind that I have nothing to gain by posting a dishonest or inaccurate review, while the owner has every incentive to contradict or disparage my account of events.
