Salty Dog Farms offers gun dog training for retrievers and flushing dogs of all ages. We will tailor a hunting dog training program to match your gun dog's abilities and your needs, whether your goals are upland game hunting and waterfowl hunting or successful competition in hunt tests. For the hunting dog, we will introduce your dog to land and water concepts such as quartering a field in gun range, delivering birds to hand, sit to flush, working with decoys, and being steady in the duck blind or boat.

Larry Sonntag is an accomplished dog trainer and has been training retrievers for obedience, hunting and field competition for more than 30 years. His dogs compete successfully in AKC hunt tests at beginning and advanced levels. Larry is a certified ForceFree and TMD dog trainer, using barely perceptible remote collar markers in his training programs, for effective, lasting results.

It has been a year since our Kahlua passed. Looking back this was the best money we have ever spent regarding our dogs. He took what we thought was a good dog and made her amazing. My friends and family still talk about all the time they got to spend in the blinds watching her work. I would not hesitate sending your dog to them!

Never having done this before, I missed my dog terribly. However, I knew that Larry, being a true professional, had Floyd's best interest at heart and was in excellent hands. Given the time frame that I had, Larry was able to complete the required training of my 7-8 month lab. He also gave this novice, plenty of time and pointers to allow me to continue moving forward on my own.
