EDITED: Edited to add that they did follow up with me regarding reimbursement. I am happy we have been contacted, but leaving at 4 stars. I wanted to like this place but a lack of follow-through has made it so we don't want to go here again. Our 2 dogs boarded there for almost a week. When they came home they looked great and happy. However within 2 days of being home, they both showed signs of kennel cough.
I took them both to the vet and confirmed kennel cough and got the medications. I called the Kennel to let them know and they mentioned nothing about the health warranty they provide. So I called back later and spoke to a manager and was told to submit my receipts for reimbursement for their medical care. I submitted the receipts 2x. Once on May 22 and once the first week of June with no follow-up.
I left a message for the manager today and am hoping that I will hear back. I understand that Kennel Cough is a risk no matter where you board but the lack of follow-through on their part is not encouraging. I also do wish that photos of my dogs enjoying the upgrades I paid for would have been uploaded on Facebook so that I could keep up with them but overall, that is minor.

My dog stayed for 24 hours last week and we paid for boarding plus daycare. My biggest complaint is that upon picking him up they couldn't find any of the things I dropped him off with. I waited over 10 minutes and they came out multiple times to ask me to describe his bed, backpack, and food bowls. I brought the bed for him to sleep on, so if they don't know what it looks like then I'm guessing it wasn't available for him to sleep on.
Finally they found my items, except the stainless steel dog bowls weren't the ones I brought, but whatever. Another annoyance was the cost being different from what they quoted me. I was quoted a cost of $42 for boarding and $16 for daycare, which should equal $58 (plus tax) for 24 hours of care. When I asked for confirmation of the total over the phone they said it was something like $115, but that's because the computer assumes you don't pick up until midday and we charge for an extra day of daycare, so your total will be less.
When I picked him up I was charged $72.34 and I'm not sure how they arrived at that number, but I find it insulting that I received no quote, the place seems disorganized by their inability to find my items, and then when paying I was prompted to leave a tip! Seriously?

It's just ok. My pups have been going to a camp for many years. We switched to here after a move. After about 15 visits, the staff still didn't know my pups names, my pups tried to follow me out when I left (they would run inside to counselors calling their names at the previous place), and were not tired after spending 8 hours there. They keep your dogs in runs and rotate playtimes.
My guess is they probably get 2-4 hours of actual yard time. They forgot to move our regularly scheduled time from April to May, so I couldn't bring them in as planned. I had to scramble take them somewhere else so I could keep my plans. I asked for a refund for my remaining days and they refused. It's a pretty first impression, but very disappointing experience overall. I switched back to Camp K9 where counselors greet them with enthusiasm, my pups can't wait to go play, and they play all day! It's worth the drive.

Bittersweet Pet Resort holds a special place in our hearts. Moops absolutely loved going there. We are just sad that we have now moved away and will have to find a new place to board him. Too bad California is so far from Michigan! Staff is caring and attentive. We always felt safe leaving Moops with them.

Bittersweet is most definitely the #1 boarding facility in the area and a great one stop shop for everything dog related! Lodging, doggy daycare, grooming, bathing, and training! They even board kitty cats! The staff are very reliable and thorough in their pet care and treat every pet as if they were their own. There are so many different options for pet care so you can be sure your dog or cat is getting the right care for them.
They are so good with nervous and aggressive dogs and cats as well. They even throw birthday and holiday parties! You can also call the office or message the Facebook page and get updates about your pet while you are away.

Horrible boarding experience that left my dog injured. I left both my dogs at bittersweet over the holiday for one week. During pick up they give you a report which basically said both dogs did good at the resort. No where on report that injuries happened which suggests they didn't pay attention to the dog or notice them. I notice the injuries once I got home and was wiping my dog's paw and face.
There was an eye injury and half a claw is missing with the red part exposed. I called and spoke to 2 people who said they were sorry but didn't offer anything to help with injuries or at least return boarding costs for the injured dog. I sent an email and still have not heard back. Poor poor service. The people who work there might seem nice but the care for your dog is not there.
