Retail has changed drastically since then with widespread online shopping and many big stores having closed down for good, but we are grateful to still be here to help everyone with all of their backyard birding needs and any other ways to enjoy nature all around us. The pandemic threw another wrench in the works 2 years ago but we found a way to keep things going with curbside pickup only for 3 solid months at the start of it and then continuing to adapt with supply chain issues or some products we stocked for years just no longer being available.

The Fat Robin Wild Bird and Nature Shop is an independently owned and operated family business located in Hamden, CT. Our goal has always been to provide the highest quality products to make sure our customers get the most out of their bird watching experience. We strive to stock our shelves with plenty of US made products, especially items made regionally right here in New England.

A family owned bird and nature shop that is a treasure in Hamden, CT. Bird seed, feeders, birdbaths, bird houses, binoculars and spotting scopes, guide books for birding, gifts, wind chimes, mugs, puzzles and photographs from father and son team of Jim and Ryan Zipp. During spring migration they run local birding trips for a small fee. Been a customer for about 25 years. Highly recommended.

What a delightful shop! I went in to get a baffle and wound up getting a few other things because of the fantastic selection. They have EVERYTHING - bird houses, huge selection of bird feed, squirrel deterrents, feeders, bird baths/bubblers, and even some squirrel picnic tables! The prices were great too -- same or cheaper than Amazon and the big home improvement stores. And everyone was so kind and helpful!

This shop is the definition of small business friendliness! Its family run.mom, dad and son. all 3 are friendly, informative and customer service oriented. They have great items to give as a gift, cards, bird food, feeders and much more! I purchased a couple "can as arts" from them.they are pictures they have actually taken.amazing.

Wonderful shop! We will be coming more often. Incredibly friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. Also, very affordable with items ranging in all different price ranges. We purchased binoculars and a few other trinkets and received excellent help from the owner Jim. They have a wide range of binoculars, scopes, feeders, baffles, feed, houses, books, ornaments, gifts, neat accessories, and so much more. There are also beautiful nature photography pieces for sale by Jim and his son. A great small business to support.
