Due to high demand for grooming services we are limiting NEW doodles and standard poodles to 50lb for full grown adults, give or take a few lbs, and new doodle puppies to "mini" or small only, not expected to exceed 45 or so lbs. These dogs are the most time consuming when large and we cant accomodate more large dogs of these breeds. Thank you for understanding! COAT CONDITION: I do not do heavy dematting.I have great techniques to straighten out certain coats, only if feasible. If a dog is in this condition, I cut short, (with client permission) while always trying to keep as long as possible.

UPDATE: Hand stripping on mixed breeds and cairns, Coat thinning and De-shedding (for those who dont want to cut) are specialties at Canine Design. Only SMALL dogs handstripped, except German Wire Haired Pointers being the exception. No stripping for Airdales or Giant Schnauzers. Matted dogs or long hair scissor cuts in the upper range.
The normal routine is drop off between 7:30 and 9:00 am, unless a different time is discussed. I can be flexible. We ask that you walk your dog in the grass by the parking lot before entering. Most people report their dog DID have to go, much to their surprise. In the yard at home, they don't necessarily do all their "business", and I end up using valuable time mopping in the playpen and rebathing dogs who've pottied all over themselves in a crate.This is extremely time consuming. I understand accidents happen, but this helps to avoid them, allowing me to use my time getting your dogs finished!
We have been extremely pleased with Laura's grooming services at Canine Design. Her results are consistant and we are always back on our way with passerbys taking a second look at the foxy little guy. Sometimes we have to wait a day to get an appointment since Laura is understandably so popular - it's worth it.
I offer overnight dog boarding in my home for well behaved dogs! Let them enjoy a warm lap, soft couch, and full back yard with doggie door and 4' fence. Laura does such a great job with our labradoodle, Pandoro who has some anxiety problems. The groomer we started with just didn't or couldn't take the time to work on alleviating her stress. Laura is really patient and that has gone a long way in reducing the anxiety. And Pandoro always looks great too. Highly recommend Laura.

Canine Design is wonderful! I have a German Wirehaired Pointer, it is so hard to find someone who puts in the time to handstrip dogs but I feel so lucky to find Laura. Laura is very honest and I definitely trust leaving my pet with her. Here is a before with her looking like a mess to right after her grooming appointment

Laura has done an excellent job with my elderly shi tzu, Sophie. I have previously used the groomer at my veterinarian's. Because Sophie is losing her sight and hearing, she is getting "snippy". They had requested she be medicated before grooming. Unfortunately, that made Sophie more nervous and the grooming was often incomplete. Laura was able to work with Sophie, so she gets a great haircut without the cost or worry of medication.

I am so happy that I came across Laura and Canine Design. When I first moved to KC a year ago, I was taking my dog to a different groomer and each time her hair cut looked different and I didn't like it. The first time I met Laura I told her the issues that I had with the previous groomer. I told her exactly what I wanted with Toffee's haircut and she did just that!

I've brought Max to Canine Design a couple times now and have been very happy with the results each time. Having a golden doodle, I just can't seem to possibly keep the matting away with the combing I do at home and as a result Max is always matted when I bring him in to be groomed. Laura does an excellent job with Max's hair and cleaning his ears. This time I asked for a mohawk and she did such a good job! I would definitely recommend Canine Design if you're looking for someone to groom your dog as well.

Canine Design will be our new go to groomer! We have a 9 month old aussiedoodle and have tried numerous other groomers and none have been as good as Canine Design. She was easy to set an appointment up with and very responsive. Our pup came out looking fantastic and didn't want to leave when it was time to pick her up! She looks, smells and feels amazing. So grateful for Canine Design!

I have a 6 month old mini golden doodle that I have taken to Canine Design a couple of times. Since golden doodles are high maintenance when it comes to grooming, I needed somewhere nearby to take her for regular cuts. Scout got a puppy trim for her first experience to acclimate her to the grooming world. She went back for a full cut about a month later.
Setting up her appointments are easy because they are very responsive and allow appointments by text. They also keep files on the dogs to remind them of preferences and previous styles/cuts. Looking forward to our future visits.
