Adding Monday as another daycare day will allow for ore options of bringing your dog twice per week and ensures we don't have to turn anybody away due to becoming too full. We are offering Monday daycare to dogs of medium size and temperament, similar to our "Tuesday bunch." Bring your dog to our supervised play times in the evening. We help your dog learning social skills, no matter if your dog is just young, shy or overwhelming to other dogs. Our play times are separated by size/ temperament and safe for all approved dogs.
Services
Put up flyers in the area including a picture of the dog. Talk to a lot of people - everyone and let them know your dog is missing. This is to make sure everybody knows the dog is being looked for and makes it harder for somebody in the area to keep the dog. Their neighbors might know the dog is being missed somewhere else. Don't forget the local groomers and pet stores.
The Better Companion helps you learn to train your dog with positive reinforcement/reward using the newest training methods. Our limited class size (not more than 8 dogs) gives us more one-on-one time helping you to be your dog's teacher. You will learn how to avoid unintentional rewards for unwanted behavior such as jumping up on people, barking, stealing food, and fearfulness.
Improve your dog's focus on you and heeling/ loose leash walking with this fun activity! You'll teach your dogs a few tricks, combine heeling patterns with these tricks and add a little music - voila! Also called the "urban herding sport", Treibball mimics herding techniques using exercise balls instead of real sheep.
If coming to OPT for the first time, please call the office and let us know. We will take your information, let you know which group you might best fit into and if you need to sign up for an evaluation before attending OPT (usually for larger dogs and some medium-size adult dogs to ascertain their play style and suitability for group play).

I take my belgian malinois puppy to the Better Companion for training and to their Open play. Before taking my puppy there, I used to take my bear dog there. Their staff is amazing and do a lot of 1x1 training with us. I couldn't imagine a better place to take my dog.

The classes are redundant and silly I learned more from the take home packet. Puppy playtime is pretty kool and good to socialize any dog

The folks here are very patient with hard headed customers.and is even better at handling and working with the dogs. Explains the how's AND why's as the class progresses, and the lessons move in a very systematic order, with each lesson building on previous ones. I'm sold. Signed up for Puppy II, and looking forward to learning more. Toby is a very well manner pup, if a bit overinthusiast.but manageable.now. Many thanks!

Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. Currently enrolled in star puppy classes and has already proved very beneficial for our pup. We also partake in open play time on Fridays, and it's a fantastic way to let your dog socialize in a controlled environment. Highly recommend

Very kind, positive people! The training is mainly clicker based with a lot of positive reinforcement. These guys really care about the doggos, you can tell! Highly recommend for those looking to create a better bond with your puppy and teach them some cool tricks :

The Better Companion is a great place for doggy daycare and for play dates. They have a comfortable indoors play area and large fenced in area for outdoors play time. Afford and the leaders are great with the dogs. My family's dogs have come to TBC since they were 10 weeks old and can guarantee they are great with other dogs and people (especially kids!) because of the great people at TBC. I have not taken part in the training but there are awards covering the every wall. Has to be a sign of success.;)

My newly adopted dog recently finished up the beginning Nosework class and we just attended the Shy Dog Workshop. Both were great experiences! I appreciate that the owner of this facility is very experienced and educated on modern, positive training techniques. Like any professional, she knows enough to continue her own education constantly, even though she has been working with dogs for over 20 years and was trained as a veterinarian.

I did not want my dog subjected to any rough treatment in the name of "training" and I knew I could trust The Better Companion to help my dog, not hurt her. My dog is more confident and is able to have more fun in new environments now, thanks to the great classes at The Better Companion.

Loved puppy 1 But wish puppy 2 was a lot better. Some of the classes times are just too late and the other too early to get off work. Just wish there was more time to do the puppy play times since I can't drive out to Wasilla twice a week

Really great dog training programs available for all ages and types of dogs. Knowledgeable staff. The open play is perfect for my small dog to meet other dogs and get all of his energy out.

I bring my dog to the open play time for small dogs/puppies. He had a terrible problem with other dogs. He constantly barked and lunged at them. He took a puppy class at another place and they were great but his constant lunging and barking made it tough on everyone. This play time has been a godsend! He is only nine pounds so I was worried about him getting hurt but the classes are separated by size.

I think the dogs appreciate this too. They seem much happier with their own size. It only took two visits and he began to calm down. Now you'd hardly know he had such a big problem. Claudia and Frank were coaching me every step of the way. I have learned so much about what he needs from me and what his behavior means. The dogs walk around, chase each other and play, the owners hang out and enjoy the show.

And Claudia has been able to answer any questions about dogs I have had. Older well mannered kids are welcome in with the group (they have a small play area for little ones). And to top it off it is only $45. for five or six visits. It's a punch card so if you can't make it you don't lose out. It's on Fridays at 5.
