They took the best care of our sweet puppy. he came home with a full belly, clipped nails (10$) and extremely spoiled. they offer some grooming like baths and such as well. and it's reasonably priced. they staff is soooo friendly and knowledgeable about their profession.10/10 recommend.

Critical: Professionalism If you are looking for a place with highly qualified and professional staff to take care of your babies, this is not the place. They have different workers in there every-time I take my baby. Then, they wonder why the animals act out.

My puppy Daisy has been going here since I first got her. I work 8 hrs and didn't want to leave her home alone the entire day. She's been going every week for about 3 or so months and she completely loves it! It's definitely the highlight or her day, along with making new friends. Everyone loves her and treats her great! They're really good about accommodating even on a short notice.

We booked a reservation for our doggo 21st-25th. It was hard to leave him since we just rescued him from Humane Society a month prior. Brisket seemed to be well taken care of. The staff was very friendly and we will definitely use Southport Kennel again in the future!

My dog stayed at Southport kennel this past weekend and basically was drugged the whole stay. I noticed that most of her sedation medication was gone that I left for her just incase she was anxious during her stay. (for once a day)I called the kennel to check on her during her stay and they told me that she was doing great and hadn't needed her medication.

I called the manger to find out what happened with her medication since I was told she didn't need it and was doing great and was a super sweet girl. The manager told me that there was a mix up with her stuff and her medication never got stored properly, so she was given her medication with EVERY meal. The managers resolution was she spoke to the employee, which was new, and offered to pay for more sedation medican (which is super cheap).

I was also advised to give the medication up front to the people at the desk, which I tried to do in the first place. When I dropped my beloved dog off the people at the front were too busy talking about improvements to actual talk to to me

I just picked up my dog today - he hasn't ate, looks very skinny like he hasn't ate in a few days. When he barks it is not like his bark - it sounds like a squeaker ball toy! We called to find out what happened at his visit because he isn't even acting like himself and they tried to say nothing happened. That the only thing different that happened was he had a personality conflict with the dog next to him.

Sorry but that isn't going to change his personality this much. He isnt jumping isn't running and not eating. I am making his second vet appt in less than 24 hours in the morning!

We always take our pit mix to Southport. She is always happy to go and happy when we get back to pick her up. Her last visit however she cut her nose trying to get out of the kennel. If there is a very small hole in a fence she will find it. I received a call from the manager on Saturday right after it happened. I missed the call and before I could call back I had pictures on my cell of her injury.

The manager was so nice. Offered to take her to the vet at no cost to us which we declined. It wasn't deep at all. I was very happy with the way she was taken care of and we were notified right away. She has done this same thing with a brand new fence at our house. Always been very happy with Southport.

I've brought my dog here twice now, and this is after doing some review checking in on other options around the Upstate. This location got my attention when the Spartanburg Humane Society and a local dog trainer friend of mine recommended Southport. I was even more pleased when I found out there are discounts for police, firefighters and teachers.

While other Yelpers have commented that Southport's policy prevents tours, that is the second thing they offered me when I walked in without my dog to investigate. The tour showed me the two options for kennels. The facility was being cleaned (as any kennel needs constantly), dogs were being fed and there was a decent play area, too. Southport feeds all their temporary residents the best-reviewed food out there.

All staff were very happy to meet my rather outgoing dog and also were happy to see her return a second time. The bath I ordered after the first stay kept my dog's coat and breath smelling fresh for over a week. (I kinda want to know how they do that!) I think Southport is taking feedback seriously. They are happy to give a tour, as I mentioned.

There is further evidence for that, too. I did not want the manicure during that bath, but I was charged the same rate. After I mentioned other groomers usually do nail trims separate, they gave me credit on my second visit and also changed the pricing for future grooming. Southport is a well run kennel. Those expecting a day spa where you can watch your dog's ear twitch in HD may look elsewhere. Overall, I will be taking my dog back for a third visit and hopefully future visits. Keep it up, Southport Kennel. Your customer service should be recognized in Spartanburg.

After two less than favorable boarding events here, it seems like Southport Kennel has turned over a new and more favorable leaf. In addition to a personal apology for one of the events in question and a gift for my puppies, I also found out that they are now partnered with the Spartanburg Humane Society. When you adopt a new puppy you are eligible for up to one week of boarding for free!

The grounds are very lovely and the dogs like going there. I do recommend you pay for a bath if they are there for more than a few days because there are some muddy areas in the yard and the baths are not included free. Make sure you know there is the possibility you are responsible for the loss of toys or treats so don't take too many items (though it sounds like they are improving their policies and handling of items in addition to your pets).

We left my dog and my daughters dog for 6 nights. I was informed that I could NOT get the multiple dog discount even though I was paying to board both dogs. Both dogs did not seem at all happy when we picked them up and BOTH dogs got kennel cough. They were both sneezing and had runny noses and were lethargic (one dog for a week and the other dog is still sick).

This required a vet visit for both dogs. They both were up to date on the kennel cough vaccine.but the vet informed me that the vaccine only protects against the most extreme types of kennel cough. When we saw the kennel before boarding, they were reluctant to show us the place and then after making us wait, took us back to the kennels. They had hosed down all the kennels while we waited.

This kennel is a cesspool of bad germs bacterial and viral. I have never written a review before but I felt compelled to let others know of our experience.so as not to make the same mistake that we did. I will never bring our dogs back to this kennel.

Their prices are great, $19/night is fantastic! We mentioned their website and Belle got a free bath on her visit, also. We left her for one night as a trial run (before leaving her for a whole week), and she really seemed to like the staff, when we picked her up. They offer a pick-up and drop-off service, which was so helpful since we had a long drive to make.

We have a small dachshund mix, and they were able to accommodate her giant bed that she uses, so the kennels they stay in are really big. We were really happy overall with the staff, and the pricing and Belle seemed to be happy also.

We are new to town and this facility was recommended to us by a friend who has boarded there for over 5 years. Over Thanksgiving and Christmas we left our new puppy and an older dog for a total of 12 days and were extremely pleased. Staff was friendly and we love that they don't charge extra for pickups late in the afternoon. Our dogs were obviously well cared for and the kennel lived up to the recommendation. On our second visit both of our dogs ran from the waiting area back to the boarding area. Happy dogs indeed!

I should have checked this place out, but my boyfriend has boarded our dogs here before. I was not allowed to go into the building to check out the facilities, which I did not like. My boyfriend dropped the dogs off without me and didn't even ask to go inside and look at the place. When we came back to pick them up they were just as happy as when they were dropped off.

Our dogs are big, and really easy going so I know they would be ok anywhere. We left them for 5 days and they didn't seem to have any problems with the place. My boyfriend said that is how it was last time he took them there too. My only complaint is that when i did ask for a tour they refused me, but we were picking up our dogs at that point.
