Laundromutt Laundromutt in Cambridge, MA and its BYOD sister stores in Newton Centre and South Boston are a family operated business with Elizabeth at its helm. Laundromutt was the first self-service dog wash in the Greater Boston area. She was inspired by her first German Shepherd, Maya. Throughout her eleven years, Maya battled skin issues such as rashes and hotspots caused by allergies.

One of the best remedies for her skin problems was frequent, medicated baths. Groomers were an expensive option, the claw and ball bathtub at home was a messy and back-braking option and holding Maya under the cold-water hose in the backyard was not an option at all.

I took my bulldog here for a DIY bath. It was a really pleasant and fun experience. The staff are very friendly and helpful. My dog left looking and smelling great. I'll be making more visits!

Best place to bring your dogs for a quick wash! Provide plenty of shampoo, towels, blow dry if you'd like and they even help clip nails!

They've raised prices so now it's $20 minimum to wash your own dog, with a beat up plastic bottle of crappy extremely watered-down mystery soap (labeled with sharpie on a post-it and covered in packing tape), and the same tiny ratty shop rags to attempt to dry off your dog. It's an absolute ripoff, and I wouldn't go here if I had any other option to give my dog a bath when it's too cold to do outside. The place is also increasingly dingy and depressing, with no basic maintenance or upkeep. The walls and ceiling clearly have not been cleaned or painted this millennium.

Horrible experience! I paid $60 for grooming/wash and after 4 hours my puppy was the same as dirty and badly trimmed. Please avoid this place as they are not okay to hear a bad feed back. Daisy the "groomer" and the front desk receptionist insulted me and slammed the door as I was exiting. My puppy is now terrified of the water because of this horrible place and service.

Avoid at all cost! Daisy and LaundroMutt employees DO NOT REPLY BACK with and explanation to this review, unless you are going to refund me the $60 you charged me, as you can check your cameras how poorly you and groomer behaved towards me. By the way - I brought in the vaccine book and the receptionist told me not worry and to put it away. Really? It was a sign that I should've payed attention to.

I was really excited to bring my 2 dogs here to get a good bath! I loved the whole idea of the place and the website looked so engaging to me. I have to say that the people were very nice and courteous and I believe they were good to my dogs as they seemed very happy when I arrived to pick them up. However, buyer beware.they charge more than the website says.

One of my dogs weighs 23 lbs and the other weighs 55 lbs and both of them cost the same amount to wash ($37.) I would have thought the smaller one would have been less. There is a different price for nail clippings.clippers vs. dremel, and maybe I had to express the importance of drying to them because both of the dogs undercoat were still damp when we left and it was 40° outside. Also, neither of them smelled freshly bathed.

They actually smelled like wet dog. My one dog I understand because he has sensitive skin so I get that, but the other one should have smelled like roses after shelling out $106! While I greatly appreciate not having to do it myself, I felt cheated and disappointed and overcharged when I left. I actually blew dried them the rest of the way when I got home.

My advise to you is to ask questions and know what you're going to be charged beforehand so you're not left standing there in disbelief like I was when he quoted me the price.

I had a bad experience with my dog. I went to the byod self serve part and the water was freezing cold. Thought maybe it was just that one tub but the other ones also had cold water. The hose I used I saw rust on it and the bottle I used had black mold on them. When I asked the guy working about it he was very rude and basically told me not his problem. The service was terrible I would not recommend this place.

I worked at laundromutt as a groomer and the manager treated me very poorly and called me names. Said things referring me to being useless. I had my tips stolen and the owners never did anything about any of it. There is mold on the hoses and black mold on the bottles. The way they do things is very unprofessional and they treat all staff very poorly.

Let me start by saying that we've been getting our senior Yorkie groomed at the Laundromutt for over four years and have been very happy with the work done by Laura. James, who has been the face of Laundromutt for me, has always been amazing. Unfortunately Laura left and our timid little pooch was seen by Jackie 9 weeks ago. She had a hard time grooming our pup and when I picked her up after 3 hours she hadn't groomed her face, feet, or back-side.

And my sweet little pup was shaking as if she had been through a terrific ordeal. Needless to say I was very disappointed. I tried to find another groomer, but everyone seems to be fully booked, so I thought I would give Laundromutt another chance. Maybe Jackie was having a bad day. I explained to James and Jackie what I was unhappy about with the last groom and Jackie gave me the excuse that "she tried to do the best she could, but your pup wouldn't have any of it".

She promised to take her time and do better this time. So I gave her another shot. Unfortunately, the results were only slightly better and once again my poor little dog was traumatized. She was shaking and cringing away from Jackie as if she had been treated very badly. James apologized and offered to not charge me, but we agreed on a discounted rate. Needless to say I will not be going back to Laundromutt until/unless they find a new groomer. Hopefully one who actually knows how to work with older, skiddish dogs.

We came in with an absolute stinker - our dog got skunk'd and it was brutal. They walked us through the 3 step process and Stacy was a lifesaver to convince our dog to get up the ramp with a towel! Everyone was patient with her hating the bath and the blow dryer, too. Definitely recommend this location, they're so nice and the whole process was much cheaper than I expected.

We haven't been for any of their dog services but we went in for some dog items. We love Ruffwear and notice they were a dealer but wish they had more options. 4 stars because it looked promising and the staff was nice but unfortunately we didn't get anything.

We took our friend's English setter in yesterday to give him a bath. He doesn't like baths and this was a great set up for us to be able to get him cleaned up! The person working there was super nice and cut the dog's nails perfectly, and then helped us get him into the tub. The tub makes it easy to wash even a big dog. They give you aprons to wear and get you all set up with towels and soap and everything. Overall a great experience and we'll definitely go back!

I drove 30min to come here for a DIY bath for my little pup and they said the person in charge of the bath area went home because of a slow day. I was there at a half hour before closing so you can imagine my disappointment. I hate giving a one star review and I rarely do but this is not right. At least update your website or social media notifying the public the wash is closed so people don't have to waste an hour traveling there and back for nothing. My poor pup.

If you have a poodle please don't go here for grooming. This was the most expensive and worst haircut my standard poodle ever had. The groomer got short with me when I tried to explain the type of haircut I wanted, and when I picked her up I was in shock! The groomer shaved her entire body, including her top knot and ears, but refused to shave her face.

She looked so strange and it took forever to grow out after that. Attitude and horrible job, if I could give zero stairs I would. Maybe she's better with other breeds, but wow. ---- Edit: This appointment was a while back, so probably from previous groomer. This review is for the correct place.

I am re-doing my review of this place to 5 stars after a little bit more thought. It's a local spot and perfectly located near the Fresh Pond for a good dog walk post/pre haircut. I came here for a hair cut in Dec 2020 and was disappointed with the cut (she just did not go short enough and didn't honor a perfect Yorkie cut like I asked for). HOWEVER the Manager/owner of this place (don't know his name but the friendly young guy who works here) was responsive and allowed me to come back with Puffin to try for a second cut at no cost.

After a little bit of back and forth we got in for a cut on January 26th and were VERY happy with the groomers trim; she did a nice cut around his face and eyes, and also under the belly. They did their best to MAKE IT RIGHT and also have a lovely array of dog treats + food. Also great text message reminders and calls re: hair cuts and apts. Also, they allow you to park in their parking lot while you walk around fresh pond if you do not have a cambridge permit. lesson learned for myself to be better at communicating to the groomer what I want, and this place did five stars for customer care/service and treating Puffin well. Thank you! Tamara

Great place to bring your dog! The new owner Rachel is absolutely amazing! She knows her stuff well. And all the staff are super friendly and know what they're doing! They always have daily specials. They also sell lots of dogs supplies there as well, If you're looking for a cell service dog wash this is the place

Love this place! I thought they only offered a wash your own dog service but a client I was dog sitting for asked me to bring one of their dogs for a grooming appointment there! They did a fabulous job. The staff is all very nice. They have a huge selection of toys and treats. Highly recommend! As I always mention in my reviews when relevant, going here supports a small, local, independently owned business.

It's always an amazing experience bringing my pup to Laundromutt. He's still getting used to the grooming experience, but he always comes out looking radiant and glowing! They do an amazing job and always greet us with a smile. I love how my little man looks and feels for weeks until it's time for our next grooming. I don't think I'll go anywhere else!

LaundroMutt really doesn't deserve any star but by default I have to give them one. A week ago, I took our small dog there for grooming and since then she is limping on her front leg. Our sweet little pooch was perfectly fine until we took her to LaundroMutt for a haircut. The lady at store, who worked on the dog, even mentioned that she'd struggled trimming the pooch's face so goodness knows how she grabbed on her delicate front leg to get her to sit : I call them one hour after I picked up our dog but clearly they deny any harm-doing. We have an appointment with the vet because the limp is not going away after a week of nursing it. I do hope that our dog is not permanently hurt by LaundroMutt!

This is a great place to bring your dog. The staff is great. They have such a cute store front. I got my dog groomed here. They did a fantastic job. Here cut lasted long. She smelled great. I have friends who use the self wash feature here. I have moved and it is just to far to come - and I really miss them and appreciate how great they were even more.

We love Laundromutt! The staff are incredibly helpful, including lifting my 70 lb dog into and out of the tub. All of the supplies that you need are provided, and they do nail clipping and grooming too. I avoid the nasty mess in my own bathroom by coming here! Nice pet shop as well. Highly recommended. Parking is sometimes a challenge but it's worth the hassle.

Well, we returned here ready to pay the high price because her regular groomers were booked weeks out. they did a really poor job this time, and we payed more than ever. $100+ which i almost don't mind if the dog looks amazing. but this way choppy, lumpy, clumpy, and just looked rushed and incomplete (for example her ears were not cleaned at all). i will not return or recommend anymore.

I have been bringing my little pup to Laundromutt mutt since she was about 3 months old- now 5 months. My boyfriend and I have nothing but amazing things to say about this place. DIY Baths: For our little pup, it is perfect as we have done 2 DIY Baths so far. We really love having the tub with the water hose to help get her really clean, plus the drying station is super helpful to have.

It gives as a place to dry her (we use the blow dryer and have no complaints), comb her and do some quick grooming that would be much harder to do at home. Grooming: I love Laura. She made me feel comfortable bringing Ila to be groomed. We had previously brought her to another groomer who told us our pup was too much to handle, but with Laura, she understood that Ila is a young puppy and made need a bit of time to be comfortable. Ila came back with glowing reviews, so I know I found the right groomer for her. Plus, Ila looked snazzy to boot! Treats/Clothing: Every treat we have had, Ila has devoured!

I also love that they are healthy and natural treats. The staff also helped me pick out some winter clothes for our pup and they were more than accommodating in letting me have a little fashion show to make sure we got the right coat and fit!

This place is great for self service, so easy. I would warn against getting them to clip your dogs nails though. The chap managed to nick a nail on 3 of her paws. Attached a pic of our car after. I will say he was very apologetic when I called to inform him.

Awesome headquarters for everything DOG! I am never trying to wash my dog at home again. It was so easy to come in to Laundromutt and walk out with a clean dog minutes later. Plus, for a small fee, they cut my dog's nails too! The whole set up here is really nice and they have a lot of treats, toys, and food for your dog as well. I will definitely be back!

Best choice for my little Bubble! I have moved to Newton 1 month ago, but I still like to take my dog and drive about 10 miles for grooming @ Laundromutt:

This is a great store, friendly staff, and the self wash is very convenient.but after having waited two weeks for an appointment to have my Labradoodle groomed, and discussed in great detail how I did not want him cut, they delivered exactly as I specified not to.shame. I know it will grow back, but when you make the effort to explain, with photos.short of using hand puppets, I don't know how else I could have explained. Oh, by the way.$180.00 for the cut. One hundred and Eighty US dollars. I lived in Los Angeles.never paid more the $80 with tip.

I've been taking my dog to the laundromutt for the "wash your dog" service and I really appreciate that a place like this exists so close to my apartment. My dog is not high maintenance and doesn't need clipping, but groomers are still pretty expensive for just a bath. I appreciate that I can bring her here and give her a bath myself. The staff is very friendly and helpful, plus it doesn't hurt that they recognize my dog and give her treats now!

I've been washing my dog at LaundroMutt for a little over a year now (since I moved to Cambridge) and have become increasingly disappointed with the place. It's the only thing like it in the area though, so, frustratingly, I'm sure I'll keep going there, waiting in their long lines, and dealing with their attitudes because, for now, it's still less hassle than washing my dog in the tub at home.

I would be remiss, though, not to warn people about a particularly bad experience I had there. During a botched nail clipping, the groomer snapped at my dog for yelping when she hit the quick. I was shocked that she even messed it up in the first place, and then reacted the way she did, because my dog might be the easiest nail clipping in the world-- he just sits there.

There was no acknowledgement, no apology, I just paid for the service and left, and my dog bled the entire way home. I haven't gotten his nails clipped there since-- THAT is something I would now rather do at home.
