I would like to warn this office that before you gasp "uugghhhhh" in frustration with a client, that you make sure that you have hung up the phone. I have been bringing my dog to this office for the last 10 months and have spent over $2,000. It was a very friendly environment. The check in ladies were awesome. In the beginning, I felt ok to ask questions as I was unsure of all the medications that were being prescribed for my dog. Well, this last time was just it for me.
I asked Ms Vet. questions. And she said to me "didn't the vet talk to you about this last week" (I had not picked up the meds yet because no one called me to tell me they were ready) I said yes but I just want to make sure how and what medications I am to give her because I still have other meds left over. After she explained and we said our goodbyes.
I heard her go "UUGHHHGGG" and then the call disconnected. I will not go back into this office. I will monitor my dogs progress on the current medication and follow-up with another office. Feeling like you're a burden for asking questions about your family pet is heartbreaking and very sad. I will find an office that has more patience with clients that have questions.

We own a 150lb Cane Corso - finding vets that are not hesitant when dealing with him has been a MAJOR challenge. We are so thankful to the entire staff for their kind and compassionate care - they are WONDERFUL and we are so pleased to know we have a vet that understands our big baby dog! Thank you to both docs and the entire staff!

Overpriced! Same exact treatment that was priced around 1000$ in another 2 vets, they wanted to charge more than 3000$ for it, plus charge 50$ just to go there to give me the quote and explain the treatment claiming at the phone they needed to see the dog that's why we had to go in person and they couldn't explain on phone, but they never visit the dog that day, I didn't like it.

Attempt to go to website to Attempt to possibly schedule and NO WEBSITE, JUST PULLS UP A EXPIRED GO DADDY! WHAT PROFESSIONAL VETERINARIAN AND ANIMAL HOSPITAL, DOESN'T ANSWER OR RETURN CALLS OR HAVE A FUNCTIONING WEBSITE.

Terrible place to do business with. The veterinarian who was a woman was extremely impatient and cut me off while talking, and didn't pay attention to the pictures I showed her in order for her to get a good idea of how my dogs skin infection first started. Yes, they were very busy but my dog deserves proper time and attention if Im going to be paying for their services.
In which they could not solve my dog's issue. On top of that, I paid for many expensive tests, medicine, and their services before they even brung my dog back out to my car. Went back a while later to be told they billed me for something else that I was under the empression that was paid for at the end of the last visit before releasing my dog and allowing me to leave.
They sent it to collections but never tried to call email or reach me to tell me of this bill. I asked why wasn't an effort made to make me aware before sending it to collections. A call, voicemail, email, letter mailed nothing! The receptionist said because they do not email clients. They only mail the bills in which she said kept getting returned despite having the correct address on file.
I asked why not call, she said she wasn't sure why a call wasn't made! They saw my dog a few times and after having me pay for expensive tests and medicines she could not determine what the skin issue was and recommended me to a dermatologist for dogs. The recommended vet was the ONLY good thing that came out of seeing Mercury Animal Hospital. The recommended vet got the diagnoses and medication correct on the first try.

Was a little disappointed. Staff was great! Dr daughter of vet there left a lot to be desired. When I first arrived they had me come in to fill out forms. one being if dog EVER had to stay there sick or not. I said why I'm not bording my dog there they said I had to fill out or my dog would not be seen. It was all about charges and charges and charges if your dog had to stay.
While filling out forms in hallway my dog got excited from a dog that came out young vet came back rudely what was that. I said my dog. She said rudely why don't you have a mask on I said rudely back I was never told I needed one. Young Vet was very rude to vet tech. Was at first bothered my dog jumping on her. Then my dog was grabbing at her stethoscope.
She made comment hey don't grab that yer dad would have a exspensive dog toy if you bit it he'd have to pay for it. I've never been to a vet where if you don't buy there prescription from them. They charge a prescription fee. $10 and some change. I will say they did give me a free month heartworm and flee prescription. After I told them I was unhappy to have to pay a prescription fee for not buying there.
But now I have to stay with there brand. I will not go back there. Seems reviews I see all go back to one Vet! I would not recommend this place AT ALL! ALL ABOUT MONEY NOT ANIMALS!

My babies Aries and Chills has been coming here since day 1. Doc & Dr. Nicole are very attentive, loving, and understanding. I've had a few moments where I'm freaking out about my babies and they have reassured me they are fine and In great care! I'm currently an employee here as well so I get to see a lot of the first hand, behind the scenes love and dedication.
It's no other place I would rather my babies to come. We are a very busy fast paced clinic but we do our best to make everyone happy and I'm so glad to apart of the team! Thank you MAH for treating my babies like family.

Last year I lost my son's dog after one of the Vets change her medication for no apparent reason. She was a bit fussy from her experience with pet smart grooming so I took her in when it was absolutely necessary; I didn't want to drug her to often. Our last visit there was for a nail clip in which she suffer a seizure due to a change in Meds.
Not only did the Vet try to blame me but she came out into the lobby in front of everyone. The owner had to tell her to go to the back. The first time she took the medications I had concerns and called them. I was told to record her with my phone while I was attempting to help her, and this was before COVID. This time she tried to say that I didn't bring her in enough, how about every time I called, the office was to busy to see her and I had to use a back up.
Two weeks later my pup died, she never bounced back and my the other VET wouldn't see her any more, I'm pretty sure he received a call. I enrolled her in the medical program in which I had to pay $50 a month for a year and couldn't use it. They charged me $389.00 for assisting in taking her life. Missy was 15yo and I miss her still. I really liked Dr. McKelvin and I stayed there 6 years because of him.

I recently stopped taking my 4-year-old American Pitbull Terrier to Mercury Animal Hospital after 4.5 years. In the beginning, I enjoyed the services there. However, over the years their customer service seems to have fallen off and they seem more focused on making money than the best interest of the pets. One thing I found unsettling was pertaining to getting prescriptions filled.
They have an in-house pharmacy, but I would sometimes order a prescription from Chewy for my pet because it would be SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper. Medication that I used to pay $94 at Mercury Animal Hospital, I would be able to get from Chewy for half that or less. Chewy reaches out to the vet for authorization of the prescription to make the process easy. Mercury Animal Hospital charges $9.50 PER PRESCRIPTION if you have it filled elsewhere.
They do offer to price match so that you don't have to pay that $9.50. Yet, every time that would do the price match, they would try to charge me more than the prescription price at the other pharmacy when I would go to pick it up. Then I have to show them the receipt from the canceled order at other pharmacy to get them to accurately price match.
I thought charging a fee to send the prescription elsewhere was normal until I took my pet to her new vet and found out that they don't charge such frivolous fees. Then there was a more concerning incident that occurred. I dropped my fur baby off at about 7:45 am for a spa day appointment. I went to work as normal. It wasn't until I pulled up at home around 5:30 PM that I realized that no one had ever called me to pick up my dog.
When I arrived all of the other staff were gone and only the Doctors were in the parking lot, preparing to leave. They were clueless as to which pet I was there to pick up. Eventually, they brought my baby out, but she didn't smell as she normally does after she returns from a spa day. To this day I'm still doubting that she was ever even bathed on that day.
I understand that mistakes happen. I too had forgotten to be on the lookout for the call to alert me that she was ready for pickup. The issue for me is how it was handled. The doctors were so nonchalant about it. Failing to realize that had I pulled up just 5 mins later, my pet would have gone over 24 hours without eating, since she didn't eat prior to me dropping her off early that morning.
They were unable to explain how my pet was forgotten about, which is alarming. My dog was not there for boarding. How did everyone leave with an extra dog in a kennel that wasn't supposed to be there? I was told someone would call me the next day. I never received a call. The most that was done in response to the incident was a $5 credit that was added to my account after I paid the full amount for the spa day. Mercury Animal Hospital isn't all bad. They've served the needs of my pet over the years, but at this point, I need a vet that is willing to go a little beyond.
I took my pet to her new vet this week. In that one visit, I was provided more insight and options pertaining to a recurring problem than Mercury Animal Hospital has offered me the whole time that they were treating my pet.

Vet service was fine here. Everything was dealt out of the parking lot, understandable given the covid situation. I am particularly upset about his boarding experience, as he was much more stressed than usual from past experiences elsewhere. I went to Alaska to visit folks and boarded my boy, a 9lb terrier mix rescue here. Ordered the vaccination updates and a groom. Groom was never done, and he smelled terrible. I was told ther was a mix up. To add insult to injury, my poor guy has been chomping on grass like crazy and drank nearly an entire bottle of water, obviously dehydrated.

This morning my mom took our dog to the vet because he was sick throwing up and had diarrhea and the receptionist said you need an appointment and it's wasn't anyone there all they were doing is standing around talking. We've taken all of our dog to Dr McKelvin and have never experienced this before. I think it's very unprofessional for your front desk staff to try and turn someone away because they don't have an appointment and there pet was sick and you wasn't doing anything to begin with.

What a great experience for my baby Thunder (standard poodle) and myself! We were treated very well by the staff here and Dr. Mckelvin was a great vet that answered a lot of my questions. He also did a thorough exam of my new baby and was reaffirming and kind - giving us great information and feedback on Thunder's next couple of months. I really appreciate Jennifer the assistant as well, my puppy really loved her!
This is a great clinic and you can tell the staff is well-experienced. This clinic is also clean and setting appointments is very easy. I was serviced in a timely manner and checking in and out was a simple, seamless process. Since moving back to Hampton and since buying a new puppy, I've been on the prowl for the best services for him from a good vet to a good groomer, and I'm happy this clinic has both. My puppy will be a recurring patient and client!
