To offer an alternative to pet care that not only offers benefits to pets and their owners but creates a relationship based on trust and education to teach pet owners to be the best they can be! This is Dawn Olson, CPPS, CMPTI, owner, and operator of DPC, and one of her pets, Hopi, a Siamese mix. Dawn moved to Colorado in 1987 from Juneau, AK to attend Bel-Rea Institute of Animal Technology. After graduating with an Associated Degree in Applied Science, passing the state exam she began her career as a Certified Veterinary Technician.
We will set up a convenient time to visit your home to meet you and your pets. This meeting generally takes between 30-45 minutes for us to answer any questions, get your pet and home instructions just right and spend some time getting to know you and your pets. We will also go through the service contract (the contract is sent to you via email in advance once your client portal is set up so that you can review) and pick up a key to your home. Even if you have keyless entry into your home, we always ask for a well-used key as a backup.
We understand that not all pet care questions can be answered on our website for each individual situation and we are happy to talk to you further via e-mail or by telephone at your convenience and answer any specific questions you may have. I can not say enough about Dawn Olson and her business, Distinctive Pet Care, Inc.
Each visit is approximately 30 minutes long. During each visit, your pet will be let out to potty at least once, walked (if requested & leash trained), given fresh food and water, clean litter boxes, and we give lots of tender, loving care. We can even leave the television on for your pets which can help alleviate separation anxiety or to just keep your pet company.

We LOVE our pet sitter, Kathy! It can be so nerve wrecking to find someone you trust to come into your home and take care of your pets, and we are so thankful for her! One of our pets is prone to medical issues and has been on lots of different medications and food. Each time we have to leave them we know Kathy can handle it and follow new and specific directions. We also LOVE getting a picture of them every time she comes to visit!

We have used Distinctive pet care several times over the last few years. We have used them for many different type of visits, from brief "mid day potty breaks" for random long work days, to two week long trips for mom and dad to go to Europe where they visit three times a day. It is never easy leaving our babies behind but DPC (specifically Cheryl (retired now) and Nikki) are AMAZING.
They are responsible, keep us well informed and ease our minds when we have to leave them behind. I am so grateful for their service and commitment to our pets. I would whole heartedly recommend to anyone needing pet care in our area. Thanks for all you do!

Holly at Distinctive Pet Care did a wonderful job taking care of our bunny while we were on vacation. It was comforting to know he was in such good hands and the daily reports she sent after every visit were filled with information and pictures so we always knew what was going on. Holly's communication was stellar, her care for Milo was above and beyond and we will definitely use Distinctive Pet Care again.

I love Distinctive Pet Care! We used them when we were out of town for five nights on vacation, and they had a fantastic in home sitter stay every night and another check in mid-afternoons every day. They sent pictures and an e-mail report every day both for the mid-day and the overnights, which was a huge relief to me. One of my dogs has abandonment issues, so coming home to see her so normal and happy was AMAZING! We will definitely use them every single time we go out of town or need a pet sitter.

I literally cannot say enough about Fran and Holly with distinctive pet care! I have a12 week old puppy and travel A LOT for work which would be very difficult if not for Fran and Holly. They do daily visits, overnight sitting and training. They are amazing with her and REALLY love her and care about her development and happiness.it feels like family (only better because Fran is such a fabulous trainer) I would pay them twice as much as they charge for everything they have done for me and my sweet puppy! Distinctive Pet Care and Julie have been caring for my two senior dogs with all the love and cuddles I could ask for from a sitter. Julie has done overnight stays and mid-day walks for me. One of my pets is diabetic and requires timed insulin shots. The other is a puppy mill survivor and very nervous around new people. Julie has gone above and beyond to meet my dog's medical needs.
Her patience and consistent care have helped to bring my shy dog out of her nervous shell. She now will run up to the door to meet Julie knowing there is a walk and a snuggle waiting. We have been customers of Distinctive Pet Care for more than ten years, and our pet sitters have been responsible and caring. We've had one adverse situation with one pet sitter some years ago, but the company acted professionally and did the right thing. We've confidently continued our service with DPC and have had no further issues since that occasion.
