I'm not usually much of a review person. I'll read them to check out places we've never been. But when it comes to an emergency, there's no time to do that. Today, I was in the Car Wash across from here when my husband called me screaming in agony that our cat, Tango, was not breathing. I was stuck in the Car Wash for what felt like forever while I tried to talk my husband through checking if Tango was choking and trying to do manual breathing for him.
All I heard was my husband begging God to bring Tango back. So heartbreaking and I felt helpless. Once I got out of the Car Wash, I was tearing down Gandy Blvd laying on my horn trying to get back home. I looked to my left and saw this hospital. I started yelling at my husband to get in the truck and bring Tango here. I hung a U-turn and pulled in and ran inside and advised the staff of what was going on.
They started collecting my information while my husband was on the way to the hospital. I could hear him trying to get there still screaming for Tango to start breathing again. The staff as VERY responsive to the emergency. As soon as my husband walked in, they brought Tango back and immediately brought us into a room to have some privacy. As I tried to console my husband, they were updating us constantly on what was going on.
My husband calmed down enough to tell me that Tango had been running around playing and ran into our TV stand. He started seizing and went limp. I relayed that info to the hospital staff thinking it may help if they knew what happened. Finally, the doctor came in and delivered the news that they were unable to save our furbaby. To say that we are shocked and absolutely heartbroken are understatements right now.
It just feels so surreal. But this staff was amazing in giving us our time to grieve, to hold our baby for the last time, and leave us with memories of our precious cat. Without being asked, we were given a paw-print and a clipping of our cat's fur to take home. My husband left as I settled the remainder of the arrangements. We just move to the area a few months ago.
We had never been to this hospital before. But if you need a vet that has a staff that makes you feel like one of the family, this is the place you need to go. On our worst day for our pet, they made the transition so seamless. I'll never forget this day. I'll never forget how welcoming and kind this team was after we disrupted a normal day for them. From the bottom of my heart, thank you to the staff of Gandy Animal Hospital for everything you did for our pet. We are eternally grateful and will be back for sure.

Dr Hall and Cara were amazing! Treated my fur babies like their own and gave such great advice about helping my cat with her travel anxiety! Easy in and out for their vaccinations and flexible about me choosing what I wanted done and which ones were necessary and which one were supplemental! Jessa at the front desk was very nice as well! Would definitely recommend bringing your pets here!

The staff at Gandy made my kitten's first check-up a breeze! Cara and Dr. Hall were so sweet with Bijou, and I could tell he felt safe and comfortable. We were basically in and out, which was a huge relief for a visit in the middle of the workday. Thanks so much to Cara, Dr. Hall, and Jocelyn at the front desk for taking great care of us!

We have had two great experiences at Gandy Animal Hospital with prompt and quality service every time! Dr. Kelly Long has taken her time helping us and explains the treatment plan really well. What we love is that they let you stay in the room with your pets while they're seen (which the Humane Society vet and others don't do). Gandy is truly the best!

Taking my cats to Gandy Animal Hospital was a great experience. The hospital is very clean. The staff is friendly and helpful. Cara and Hailey took us in quickly and we're very professional. I was really impressed with how easily Dr. Neves took care of my cats. My cats and I overall loved this place. 5 stars.

Gandy Animal Hospital is very clean and professional. Our technician Cara was very attentive to our concerns and was very helpful answering our questions. Our customer service representative Vessa was very welcoming and kind when we were a few minutes late. Dr. Long was very efficient yet gentle with our cat.

My cat was perfectly healthy and fine before going to Gandys. He was neutered 10 days ago and ever since has been involuntarily chattering and slobbering bad. He won't clean himself barely eats or drinks. It's like he's in depression. He refuses to come out or come to his name. When I took him back for a check up due to this dr souder claims they do nothing out of the ordinary for the neutering, if that's the case then why can't he tell me what's wrong w my cat? Says he doesn't know but could be renal failure hmmmm how can he make an assumption like that without testing?
The cat I picked up after the surgery is not the same cat that I brought into that office, his personality is gone and all. I just want my cat back to normal and someone to take responsibility for what has happened. I will never take another animal to Gandys and if you want your babies to remain safe then you won't either.

I would give 0 stars if possible. Dr Souder is one of the rudest, most difficult people I've ever had the misfortune to encounter. I've taken pets to him 3 times while out of town visiting relatives and each time he's stated that there was some component of the situation he didn't know or couldn't handle because "he's just a country doctor." He operated on my mom's cat after assuring her he was a better surgeon than general doctor only to find out the surgery was not completed correctly so her cat may have to undergo a second operation to correct the first.
He has an incredibly condescending attitude, especially toward women, and you had better be comfortable with profanity if visiting his office. When my mother's dog passed away, he wanted to go home and let him put her to sleep rather than us remaining with her. When we refused, he said he would take her in the back and "put her down" and then we could see her.
When I questioned this since I'd never experienced a vet that didn't allow the owners to remain with the pet, he began yelling and telling us he "didn't need this s&t" because he was having a bad day. I'm truly sorry his day wasn't going well but that doesn't mean our dog's last minutes in this world shouldn't be with those that loved and wanted to comfort her.
After things escalated to a shouting argument in the lobby his concession was to put her to sleep in the hall on a rolling cart while he held her head down. She was the gentlest, most timid dog I've ever met so it breaks my heart to know that her last moment was spent in fear. There are so many other examples of his poor veterinary skill and unprofessional attitude that if I attempted to note them I'd have to type all day. Please feel free to let me know if need additional examples and I'll be happy to provide them so pets in the area can receive better veterinary care elsewhere.
