Welcome to The Bone Adventure, "A Best Friend's Place to Play"! Established in 2003, The Bone Adventure has become the dog daycare, boarding, and grooming choice for thousands of Orange County families. We strive to make our environment safe, secure, and fun so that your dog can enjoy his time away from you, and you can ease your mind and make the most of your travel, career, hobbies, and friends.
We have two Costa Mesa locations, Bone Home and Bone Backyard. Both locations offer indoor and outdoor grounds, complete with K9 Grass (custom grass for a dog environment), water features, customized sleeping arrangements, and enough dogs to keep your dog engaged, whether he is here just for the day, or boarding for a month!

Services
The Bone Adventure opened it's doors in 2003. Now, with two Costa Mesa locations and over 60 employees, we are proud to be the dog care choice to thousands of individuals and families who have busy and demanding schedules but still want the companionship of a well-adjusted dog. Socialization and exercise are the primary factors contributing to a dog's well being, and we strive to provide this in a safe, clean, and fun environment. The company has had strong, but gradual growth, by design. The most important asset we have is our employees.
The company was founded by Diane Cuniff, who saw an opportunity in Orange County to be one of the first cage free dog daycares. After securing all the city permits, The Bone Adventure on Superior was built out with the needs of a discriminating clientele kept front and center. Because many potential clients had never used a dog daycare before, they didn't know what they didn't know!
There's a reason why we are called The Bone Adventure. A Best Friend's Place to Play! We sure know how to play! Activity and Socialization are keys to a well adjusted dog, and The Bone Adventure is the place to get it! We have a well trained staff of dog handlers who get to know your pet individually.
Bone Home is our flagship location nestled in between two car washes in the ever changing industrial area of Costa Mesa/Newport Beach. Aptly named for its "home-like" environment, Bone Home provides the perfect combination of relaxation, exercise and love for your dog. Whether 6 months or 10 years old, there is a great deal of excitement when they see the driveway at The Bone Adventure.

Our Bella (cockapoo) loves Bone Adventure on Bristol! She has been going for probably 8 years or more and gets excited when we talk about her playing there. The owner Diane has been very welcoming and personable. Her staff are so attentive and fun! Their groomers have been wonderful. I've told friends how it feels like Disneyland for dogs Their fairly new pool has been a nice bonus to their backyard shallow pools/ponds They are very accommodating and flexible. They have food if needed as well. Nice packages to keep prices reasonable. Big thank you to everyone there!

Love the bone adventure! I've been bringing my American Staffordshire terrier pitbull mix to this location and he loves it here! Spooky is a high energy puppy who loves everyone and bringing him to daycare let's him achieve his puppy dreams! A few things I love about this location: -Live video feed I love that I can watch him while I'm working or away for the day. -Safety He can be a handful so I appreciate that the staff is constantly checking on him if he's starting to do parkour or have the extreme zoomies.
I feel safe knowing the staff is confident in doggy behavior. He's energetic not aggressive -TLC The staff truly care about the well-being of our dogs I have had the staff call me on very sunny days and ask if they can put sunblock on Spooky because he does get sunburnt/pink. Those little things are what us dog parents would do for our dogs and the staff is already looking out for them.
A little bonus that I appreciate as well is the offer to dry your dog before leaving if your dog was playing in the pool. To sum it up I feel like it's very hard to find a doggy daycare that I feel safe leaving my dog at especially with Spooky's breed. A lot of daycare's don't except Pitbulls or Staffys. I love that Spooky is welcomed with open arms here. Thank you guys for taking care of Spooky

This place has been absolutely amazing. We have a black lab puppy and he has had great adventures at both locations. The location on Bristol is definitely larger that even includes swimming classes. My pup loves going in to the pool. When we have either needed him to go for a few hours or overnight, they have been nothing short of amazing. They truly treat him like he's one of the family.

I am very happy with this establishment and the services they provide. The facility is well maintained, and has lots of enrichment opportunities for my dog. The staff members are all friendly, polite, and professional! They really take to heart special requests I have for my dog, which makes me feel very good about leaving her there while I am at work. My dog loves coming here, and I love how well she is cared for. I would strongly recommend this company to other people seeking daycare/boarding.

Took my dog here 01/09/22 for a temp test. My dog goes to daycare and boarding at other facilities. I decided to look into this one since it is closer to my job I could take her to work with me and pick her up on my way home. She was there about 2 hours. When I picked her up they said she passed her temp test and was able to come back anytime however they noticed she was "mouthy" and rough.
The girl elaborated that she was playing rough and when "corrected" she would bite at them but not hard. I called my other daycares and asked if they've ever seen that behavior. They said NO. More importantly that my dog plays well with other dogs. Has zero problems sharing. Even allows them to touch her and grab her bowl during feeding. I'm confused why my dog would bite at them.
When I came to pick her up I watched from the window for 5-10mins I saw nothing from her that seemed rough or rowdy. She was running back and forth with other dogs and checking out the environment. I don't know what their method for correction is but if it makes my dog feel like she needs to bite no thank you. I wanted to like this place but I would not feel comfortable leaving my dog there 5 days a week.
I pay too much money for daycare service packages for my dog to feel like biting is a way to communicate with staff. I will not be using them and suggest others if it feels weird do not leave your pets here or anywhere your dog suddenly acts like they need to bite their care takers.

I highly recommend the bone adventure. Diane addressed a concern we had and was extremely gracious and helpful even when we got a bit emotional over our dog. She won back our business and took all the right steps, we really appreciate how she does business and the genuine care she has for the dogs and their owners who come to the bone adventure. Our dog Ozzy can be hyper-active and we are thankful he has a safe place to play and socialize with other dogs. Thank you bone adventure staff.

After 1. 5 years without any problems, my puppy Duke was attacked unprovoked by a pack of dogs at Bone Adventure. As you can see from the photos he has multiple wounds from a prolonged unattended incident. This happened while the owner Diane Cuniff was away on a ski trip in Utah. They will not let us see the video of the attack and have giving us many half truths.
We have unpaid vet bills in the thousand of dollars and a company more interested in packing in the profits then the proper care of animals. Yes the dogs who did this are still there!. If your dog has experienced similar problems, please contact us.

STILL OPEN AND PRACTICING AWESOME AND SAFE DROP OFF/pickup PRACTICES! The best and safest place to take your pup on vacation or just to get some social play for a few hours now that all dog parks are closed except dog beach. We love them for the quality caring staff they hire, the true love and care the staff has for all their dogs visiting and the absolute BEST groomers! Mimi is our go to awesome groomer!

A before and after of our fur baby - we love coming here for grooming. Every one who works there is pleasant and really good with the dogs. They're calm, patient and loving. We absolutely love that she doesn't get locked in a kennel for hours as other dogs are getting bathed and groomed. She gets to roam free in the grooming and small dog areas. They always do a great job with the hair cuts and bathing. They also clean out her ears and trim her nails.

This is such an amazing experience for my two goldendoodles and everyone is so compassionate as well as excellent at customer service. My puppies love their time, have done very well boarding as well as daycare and it's been a life saver when I needed it. Bravo to the owner and staff! We are so happy to have found The Bone Adventure. We started taking our 1 year old Dauchshund Darby there and love this place. The staff members are positive and professional and our dog, is so happy and excited to be dropped off. They offer day care and boarding and also have a live feed where you can check in on your dog. Each staff member takes special care to get to know your dog.
I love that the dogs get to roam free and play and sleep and meet other dogs. Staff members are there to pet, snuggle, play and keep the dogs safe. This place feels like home. If you are looking for a place to send your dog look no further. Thanks Bone Adventure.

Best place to bring your pup. Lots of free roaming dogs, getting lots of exercise and making lots of friends. The staff is friendly and always willing to help. My dog has been going here for about 4 months and we love this place. The location is perfect and I love that they open at 6:30 am, this is a plus.

Place is really nice since it's so close to my work. The staff is always extremely friendly and knew my dogs name after the first visit. It's a little pricey but so is most day care. Cameras are a nice touch can log in and watch from anywhere. My pup loves water so their play fountains are perfect for him. Highly recommend this place.

Awesome place! Our 2 small poodle mixes come here for boarding and daycare. We used to go to doggie daycare and more but hated that they had no time outside. We just recently had them complete the intro to swim class which they absolutely LOVED! Can't wait for them to enjoy the new pool during their next stay, such a great amenity!

Rio loves going to play at the Bone! He gets to interact with other dogs and he comes home tired. He really needs the exercise! He's a little over weight. He loved his swim in the new pool the other day! The. staff are very well trained in the world of dogs! They all have at least one of their own! So I recommend the Bone Adventure for the love of your pets!

First time visit for Temperament Test for Maximus. This is a dawg interview to see how he reacts to other dawgs, to determine how temperamental Maximus can be. Located on Superior, it is very easy to get to from the 55. This is a smaller location than the one on Bristol. It is meant more for dogs who need to be around less energetic dogs. Parking is limited since it is a small property, however, once you go into the office, you are greeted with a friendly HELLO & Smile.
On this day, Emilie & Monique were at the front desk. I checked in with Emilie while Monique gave me much needed information regarding day care. Emilie was my main contact throughout & it was a pleasure. I left Maximus for 2 hours. Upon my return, I was greeted by Emilie who advised me Maximus did just fine. So he PASSED! YAY! Emilie answered all my inquiries & gave me a lot of information.
So WOOHOO! it IS as good as it gets! BTW, I chose Bone Adventure because both have OUTDOOR play & water areas for Maximus to enjoy. Maximus came back wet, I could see he had a great time. Happy Dawggy Day Care and Fight On!

This review is for the grooming. This was my first time at this location. We always go to the Bristol location and have never had a bad experience. We dropped off our Goldendoodle for a haircut, and we asked that his face be trimmed more than usual. We were told he would be ready in 2-3 hours. After four hours of not hearing anything, we tried calling and could not reach anyone.
We tried calling ten minutes later. They said he would be ready in ten minutes. When we arrived, his face looked like it hadn't even been touched. He still had dirty fur on the top of his head. We asked the groomer to take more off and showed him exactly how much. He took him back for twenty minutes to fix him, but it was still not what we wanted.
At this point, our dog's grooming appointment had taken almost five hours. I spent another hour when we got home shaving his face, head, and neck down. Upon further inspection, I found that his fur was dirty in multiple places still. I'm not even sure they gave him a bath. I can't believe the haircut cost $100. This place was overall very unprofessional. The front desk girl had her friend hiding in the corner to keep her company. We will never go back.

I don't usually take time to write a review but I was beyond ecstatic with the grooming of Efren! Amazing is all I can say. I rescued my maltipoo in December and the foster parents decided to dye her fur red and green for the holidays. The horrible part was that she this was not washable it was permanent. You can imagine the looks and stares I got walking down the street with a dog with bright red ears and a bright green tail!
I asked several groomers to get out the color and they couldn't. Low and behold I went to pick Luna up on Thursday and no more red or green! I was so happy I cried thank you so much to the crew at the bone adventure especially Efren so appreciate you and your services!

My handsome son, Bear, and I LOVE Bone Adventure. Bear was a "spicy" kid since his rescue years ago so I was weary initially, but the screening process put my mind at ease; plus, the webcam access makes this service worth every red cent. The staff members are loving: it's like Cheers for dogs bc almost every employee affectionately greets him by name.
I couldn't be happier as Bear's socialization with other dogs and humans has been remarkable: I can trust my dog more bc of this exposure. I'm so grateful for The Bone as the hours for daycare are incredibly accommodating. I've boarded and had him groomed here as well which were equally satisfactory. Truly, a worthwhile investment. Four paws up to the BA!

Hobo the Cockapoo loves the Bone Adventure! The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and super wonderful to him! The "Home" is spacious, clean and always smells good too! Hobo loves the company of other small dogs in their own private section and feels super safe and happy to take a break from all his furry friends in the inside nap room! How fun is that!? When he takes advantage of the great grooming available, he feels like he's enjoyed a doggy Spa Day!

Great little dog day care, boarding and grooming. Very professional. Great customer service. Excellent attention to detail and they love your babies! I highly recommend this dog boarding business. The people to dog ratio is impressive. They have thought of everything. Today was our trial visit and they (and my dog) passed with flying colors. When I picked up my dog today, she received a report card!. It was really cute. But the best part is, she seemed to be having a great time (watched via webcams!) and now she is out like a light! We will be frequenting this place!

Exceeded my nervous pup momma expectations for the first grooming (bath, nail trim, and hair cut)! My five-month puppy was in need of her first hair cut and like any nervous pup momma I did my research and found the Bone Adventure. The reviews consistently had a theme of: "my dog runs in and loves it here" and I saw that with my own eyes! Every dog that came in was trying to get in faster than the owners could check them in and once in were bouncing with joy.
I knew my puppy was in good hands. The groomers were thorough, knowledgeable, and experts in cutting hair. They recommended the hair length and my puppy like herself but improved and ready for the heat. They took it a step above by telling me how she was feeling during the process - that she was welcoming and ambivalent of shears but initially anxious of buzzers, and that she wanted to meet everyone in the various rooms. That's my girl through and through!
They really got to know my puppy and that speaks volumes to me. While I am an out of towner and used the grooming session as a way to spend half a day doing things only humans can do (museums, meetings, etc) I will definitely bring back my puppy here next time I am in town (which is often!). Some logistics: the place is easy to find, has its own large parking lot, and has coffee shops and restaurants nearby (at the cabin complex) to pass time for you.
You can also pop in and see your pup from the window when she's not being groomed! Price: the price quoted on the phone by the front desk may not be representative of the actual cost for a bath and grooming; there's a slight difference because it's based upon the actual groomer. So be prepared to not pay "as quoted" and remember your puppy was in amazing hands and is better looking because of it!
