Wet Spot Tropical Fish

I have ordered online numerous times and have been blown away by the healthiness and overall quality of the fish. I haven't lost a single fish out of the 4 or 5 orders of fish I've received over the last 2 years. By far the best selection of fish anywhere in the USA. Fish are packaged well and with care. Will always look at The Wet Spot first for any of my fish needs.

This is my go-to store for all my aquarium needs. Knowledgeable friendly staff, amazing variety of fish, plants and supplies. Make sure to hit them up on their anniversary sale for some amazing deals. 6/14/22 - I want to pop in a shout out to the entire team who assisted me with my odd rock issue I experienced in my fish tank. The cashier was super helpful and hilarious.

A big thank you to the manager who assisted me as well, the guy who tested my water parameters and (as you can tell, I am horrible with names) to the guy with the blue hair who helped me with plants - you rock. Thank you for your expertise and superb customer service (everyone) there's a reason why I keep coming back!

I went there this Saturday to get some pea puffers and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful in masking sure I had all the right food for the puffers and the correct amount. I was originally going to get just 2 but the lady who helped me informed me that they ask better in numbers and told me some interesting facts and information that was super helpful! I highly recommend it for first time fish enthusiasts because they will make sure your fish has everything it need and they are very knowledgeable.

First time me and my plus one stopped in looking for some fresh water aquarium plants. Was happy they're asking customers to be masked and providing sanitizer (as of 4/2/22). Their selection is HUGE! We signed up for their wait list on the warm, sunny, and packed Saturday we visited. Quickly a very kind and knowledgeable staffer came and helped us gather our plants.

They answered all questions and packaged the plants very well (thick mm bag with acclimation instructions for fish - way better than a box store). We spent more time looking at their huge selection of fish and plant than we did checking out. Fantastic selection of puffers, cichlids, tetras, even air plants. Love this place! 10/10 will be back to get fish for my new tank.

I absolutely love this fish store! I have had a fresh water tank since early November 2021. All of my plants, and fish except one are from The Wet Spot. All of my fish are happy, healthy, and gorgeous. I have purchased White Cloud Mountain minnows, 3 different pangio species, and mystery snails. Along with the quality of my tank additions being exceptional, the staff is also terrific!

Every time I've been in the people working have been knowledgeable and super friendly. My last visit I had a chat with Leah. She took the time to listen to all the questions I had about my fish and plant life. Being new to this, hobby I am still expanding my knowledge, and have PLENTY of questions. Thank you Leah for taking the time to make me feel confident in my purchase!

I don't hand out 5 star reviews often, but please sit back and allow me to gush about one of my favorite shops in Portland. Wet Spot has it all! I love their name, the location, the variety, the exceptional service, and their dedication to being the most knowledgeable and helpful source for aquarium needs in Portland. This place is a Portland institution and I feel really lucky to have them as a resource in my own backyard.

The variety of plants, fish food and aquarium products can't be beat! I've walked in with the most ridiculous questions and I never feel judged by my lack of knowledge about what can be a very specialized and niche hobby. The staff are honestly very invested in whatever projects customers have going, and knowledge and support flow generously.

The store is very clean, the fish and plants appear to be very healthy and well-maintained. and there is SO MUCH SELECTION. I will not shop anywhere else. Thanks for being so cool, Wet Spot! You're the best.

Great assortment of fish, plants, invertebrates, and supplies. Very knowledgeable staff on duty! All fish have been quarantined. New fish shipment every week. It's the place for aquarium keepers in the Pacific Northwest to go! They also ship livestock for a flat rate no matter how much you order. I found everything that I was looking for when I visited there last.

I love this place so much. Such amazing staff and an AWESOME selection. A while ago they sold me a sick fish (they didn't know it was sick and neither did I). The fish had ick, and it kinda screwed up my whole tank. They made it right with a refund for that fish and all the medicines I would need to cure my other fish for free. The wet spot is an awesome place to go if you want tanks, fish, plants, hard scape, equipment, etc. or if you ever need advice on something for your tank, go there, they will help you with whatever you need!

I bought 4 koi angelfish. They arrived alive and healthy however their coloring was nothing as beautiful as the picture they showed. Several days after arrival the oranges were watery and washed out if present at all. I am happy they're healthy and very disappointed they look little like the picture that was shown It's been a couple of weeks now and actually they're looking fantastic I have no complaints I think I reacted too quickly as the fish were young and not fully colored up from their travels to me

This place is wonderful, the upkeep on these aquariums are lovely. I heard them going over cleaning/feeding schedules as I was in the store. I saw 0 dead fish and only live healthy plants. Last aquatic store I went to had ich on most of their fish, not this place! The staff is helpful and funny, you can tell they enjoy their job and eachother. Let me also mention the pricing is very reasonable.

I got 6 kuhli and they're so happy and healthy! Nothing makes me happier then aquatics. Can I just move in? Edit: As I was reading, yes there is a very sarcastic/rude male that works there. He looks like a hipster though so I just assume it's part of his shtick? I asked what breed of nitrate and he sad "yes. It is a snail." And walked away. I am in customer service and I hate people too. Cheers to him.

Just received my fish delivery, pangio shelfordii, packing was outstanding and delivery was earlier then quoted by ups. I've been after this variety for quite awhile and the Wet Spot came thru with flying colors!

Staff was knowledgeable and kind. (Without even being snooty) such a nice experience, I hate that I don't know her name to mention her here but she patiently answered all of our questions and was super gentle getting the fish out of the tanks. We are first time fish owners and we look forward to visiting in the future. Thanks y'all!

Upon entering into the wet spot I was absolutely blown away! The fish tanks are all in absolute perfect condition. I wanted 2 of everything and one of everything else that I seen. The staff are amazing and vey helpful. I am a lifelong customer. The one problem is that the fish are so healthy that once you fill one tank you end up with more. Im currently on tank 3 a 55 gallon.

Excellent customer service, fast shipping, and high quality fish. I purchased 3 discus, and they are HUGE. Definitely will buy from them again.

There's no other store I'd rather browse in Portland than this one. I've purchased nearly all my fish from Wet Spot for two main reasons: 1) The selection and stock are top notch. There's always something new and fascinating to see in the tanks, and every fish I've purchased has been healthy and disease-free. Their quarantine procedures before the fish even hit the floor make me confident that I'm not going to lose fish after I bring them home (though I still quarantine them just to be safe). 2) The staff are actually knowledgeable.

I like to know the parameters of the tanks before I put them in my own, and I'm always impressed with how the staff are able to guide me from species-to-species about what I should aim for. Though the store can get busy at times (which means there's usually a short wait for assistance), I never feel like the staff are trying to rush through my order to move on to someone else--they're happy to answer my questions, walk around to a few different tanks with me, and make sure I'm happy before taking off. 10/10 would recommend!

This is the 2nd time that I have purchased from the Wet Spot. I am extremely impressed by their team. From Sales to Shipping departments every transaction is smooth. Everything is thought out thoroughly on their end right down to the bags they ship out the fish in. The shipping bags that The Wet Spot use are nice and thick and have rounded corners so it minimizes the fish getting trapped in the corners.

For the quality of fish, you can tell they are well taking care of. I live in SW Ohio with limited resources in obtaining good live stock. So for me the shipping isn't a big deal knowing that what I am receiving is high quality live stock. I am posting a picture of one of the Apistogramma's that I received from them. Keep in mind this is slightly over 24 hours since I dropped him in my tank he will color up even more as time goes on.

Give them a try you won't be disappointed! Update August 2021: Well, I have baby fry after only a month the pair has produced a very nice brood of over 25. Just another testimony of how great #thewetspot.com live stock is!

All I can say, is that it lived up to the hype. It's always nice to visit a fish store with knowledgeable staff and a large variety of fish/equipment to browse through. I have never purchased anything online from them, but I'm sure I will be in the near future.

I have been back many times and all I get is helpful and kind people. They are also very knowledgeable. The Wet Spot has become my go to place for aquarium supplies and fish! ( I make the drive from Vancouver, WA).

I don't even own a fish and these wonderful humans have been spectacularly helpful. I'm making a planted tank and have been struggling with the water's nitrogen cycle and the delightfully helpful employees here have been great. Also, just to add, I actually appreciate their covid protocols. Why? Because they're keeping their customers safe.

If you don't like it, go somewhere else. I'll continue giving them my money because I agree with their priorities. They care about their employees and customers, and if you have a problem with that, that's on y'all. Anyway, thank you all for your help! Happy customer

The best fish store anywhere around. They care for what they are doing and it's a small local business so vote with your dollar and go here instead of petco. It sounds like there used to be more "experts" but everyone I've ever spoken with at the wet spot has been really knowledgeable and given me solid advice. I don't know how their prices compare but the light I got was cheaper than Amazon (and Amazon was sold out). It's a popular store so if you come on a weekend be prepared to put your name on a list and wait. Also do some YouTube "research" before you go so you can ask intelligent questions.

Received pets through next day air. Amazing service and selection! Joe and team were exceptional in working with me to select the appropriate creatures for my aquarium. Everyone arrived alive and very vigorous. I was extremely pleased with all the fish that were selected. For those even curious, check out their site or store. The selection is hard to beat.

Some cool fish to look over. That's the only plus. I've been there a few times and the staff seems to contradict each other about many of the different "facts". I love to learn but when you're purposely snobbish and inconsistent, you will run away potential customers.

I wish it were closer but whenever i pop into a movie at The Hollywood Theater, I enjoy taking a walk I to this store. It's remarkable busy on weekends but i really appreciate the kind and friendly staff I get to help me. And so knowledgeable too. best place to get plants too. They were particularly helpful when I went through an Ick crisis and lost nearly all my fish.

They were empathetic and gave some excellent advice. Just recently went in to get some help on algae and 'Roomba' here, a panda garra has done an awesome job In just a few days! I'll be back soon to pick out fish for a new half moon tank! Thanks Wet Spot- love you guys!
