Voted one of Western North Carolina's top pet daycares/kennels, YOU WORK, I'LL PLAY provides daily care for social dogs while their owners are working, traveling, or going to places where their dogs are not welcome. We are open for daycare from 7:00am to 7:00pm Monday through Friday. During a day at YOU WORK, I'LL PLAY, dogs have a chance to interact with other dogs, get exercise, and expend their energy in a non-destructive manner.
In order to enroll your dog in daycare or board your dog with us, a number of forms must be read and signed. It may seem like a lot of work, but it is for the safety of all of the dogs, as well as the staff. You can download the forms here, fill them out and bring them with you on your first visit. Thank you for your time.
We had a great turn out at the Howl-o-ween party this year, raising $405 which was donated to. Over the years, YWIP staff and clients have participated in numerous fundraisers and have. Five weeks after Hurricane Katrina hit, Jill had the opportunity to participate in the massive.
Jill has been working with and training animals her whole life. Her desire to care for them led to four years of experience as a Veterinary Technician, providing her with extensive knowledge in first aid and preventative care. She was always most fascinated by behavior, though, and that interest led her to pursue a career in marine mammal training while doing some dog training on the weekends.

I have been coming to YWIP since they opened. As a dog trainer, I was looking for a facility that would set boundaries for my dogs behavior while allowing them to play. What a success. I did in home boarding for 20 years and have numerous friends in the grooming & vet businesses. I was amused by the number of people who complained about the amount of paperwork I required to make their dogs life in my home successful.

It's necessary. A common thread of conversation is how difficult it is to give constructive advice to pet owners. (My child can do no wrong) Often nothing is said rather than risk losing business. Thank you YWIP for not taking this approach. As a Standard Poodle owner I find the bathing fees reasonable. Good thing Porter, the mixed breed darling, can go somewhere else where his issues will be overlooked. Make sure you get the day right.

There isn't anything we don't like about You Work I'll Play Dog Daycare. Our dogs, past and current, have been attending daycare and doing overnight boarding there for over 15 years. They know what day is daycare day, and can't wait to get there. We love being able to watch them on the webcams and are thankful for a place and people they love when leaving them for daycare or boarding. Don't know what we'd do without them!

If I could give less than one star I would. Goldendoodles are known for their friendly loving outgoing attitudes. We know our puppy as everyone knows their puppy. He is family. The only way that Porter would try to bite is if he is being mistreated and feels like he has to defend himself. If someone has no patience with a puppy then maybe they are not compatible with the line of business they are in.

Our puppy has always been very loving and non aggressive. All the other doggie day cares that he has stayed at give him high marks on his report card. FYI No one should ever have to ask for a breakdown of charges. It should be afforded to you like any other establishment. A vet or a restaurant or a grocery store or a car dealer. SO ASK FOR A BREAKDOWN. CONSUMER BEWARE.

We left our puppy of 8 months at their facility after signing pages and pages of disclaimers. We asked if they could bath our 40 pound puppy before we picked him up and asked how much it would cost since they had our card on file. The employee looked at the dog and his weight and said $40.00, which we were surprised about since it was just a bath but they said they would do his nails too.

We came back into town and they called us when we were in the airport and asked us if we were going to be there in time we informed them we would be there the next day as the paper work we filled out said. They said can you be here at 8:00am or earlier since we are booked out. We showed up at 7:45 am they charged us for that day and 60.00 for the bath because the puppy was restless during the bath.

They charged our card for payment without a break down we had to be home to break down the bill and realized we were over charged because there was no breakdown just a total slip to sign. $361.00 for 6 nites and a bath. We took a bath for sure! Buyer beware they have your loved ones.

You Work, I'll Play (YWIP) is hands down our favorite doggy daycare/boarding facility we've ever been to. The owners and staff are amazing, caring people that our dogs adore. YWIP goes the extra mile- like having hourly potty breaks for the dogs. Most doggy daycares don't care when or where the dogs go potty and outdoor potty breaks were important when our potty-training puppy came to YWIP.

We got our puppy in January 2020, so she grew up during the pandemic and wasn't getting the exposure to people, places, and animals that she needed. Zoey was a timid, scared puppy when she started at daycare to help her socialization and we enrolled her in the training option YWIP offers. Jill and the staff worked with Zoey to overcome her fears (ladders, cardboard boxes, and other super normal things to be afraid of) as part of her training and it made a big difference in Zoey's confidence and behavior.

Not only did the staff help her socialize with people and dogs, they reenforced training we were working on her with at home. Even after the official training stopped, YWIP has stayed attuned to Zoey's needs and she loves to go to there and see all of her friends- human and dog alike. I really can't say enough good things about YWIP and the people who make it a wonderful place.

My two girls absolutely love staying here! I have a three-year-old husky and a seven-year-old German Shepherd/collie mix. The staff is extremely friendly and always willing to go above and beyond to make sure the dogs get the care they need. Ginger, The seven-year-old, doesn't always get along with other dogs yet every time she stays here she comes home absolutely exhausted from playing and having an amazing time. I am very lucky to have found this place!

I'm writing this review as we spend our last night with our almost 10 year old, Great Dane. I cannot express the sincere gratitude and appreciation I have for Jill and Jason and all of the You Work, I'll Play staff. They have cared for our sweet Murdoch since he was a puppy through weekly daycare and boarding visits. Every Tuesday, Murdoch knew it was daycare day and would go and stand at the door in excitement to go to You Work, I'll Play and see all of his friends.

We never worried when Murdoch was there as we knew he was always in good hands. Little did we know that this Tuesday was his last daycare day, but so glad he got to have one more before he goes over the rainbow. We will undoubtedly be back when it's time for our next family member to join us.

I take my 3 older dogs here once a week and board them a couple times a year. They are always happy to get there and sleep like babies when they get home. One of my dogs didn't socialize with large groups until she was 13 but the staff is very attentive to the dogs and they make sure the more rambunctious dogs don't irritate the older ones. This way she's learned to meet other dogs without being overwhelmed. I also know when they board that they're in great hands and trust that if anything were to happen, the owners would do what was necessary to take care of them.

My Chihuahua is not the friendliest dog and doesn't always play well with other dogs so I was nervous about leaving him, especially for a week. It was reassuring to have the live webcam and I was able to catch glimpses of him with other dogs in the play room. Then when I picked him up it was obvious he had at least accepted some interaction with the humans too. :

Tiger & I just love YWIP. My 7 yr. old retriever mix has been going there for several years now & actually starts whining excitedly when we drive up Brevard Road. Jill & Jason have assembled fantastic staff who treat all the dogs like their own, with love & kindness. The accommodations are bright and clean & the webcam allows me to check up on my boy while I'm away. From specialized care & feeding while boarding, to daycare & especially the Howl-o-Ween parties, you can't beat this place!
