In accordance with the state restrictions being lifted on 3/12, we will no longer be requiring masks as of that date. Clients and staff are welcome to wear masks if they choose. We are now allowing 2 people per registration. For safety reasons, children under 18yrs must be accompanied by an adult, be able to pay attention, follow directions and remain seated (unless working with a dog).
We may ask that the adult handle the leash. Additionally, we have a Beginning Obedience Train at Home Package. This includes five videos, supporting handouts and two private 30 minute Zoom consults for $175.

Services
At Happy-Go-Lucky Dog Training, we hold an average of 16 different classes a week in two training rooms. We have four instructors and six assistant instructors, all of whom are on-staff to maintain consistency in methods and a high level of experience throughout our classes. There's lots of one-on-one attention and hands-on practice, helping you and your dog succeed every step of the way.
Managing and training your dog can help prevent inappropriate play which can escalate into aggression. PLAYING WITH YOU Puppies first learn to play with their littermates. Their play consists of a lot of rough-and-tumble activity and tons of play biting. A dog playing in this fashion with an adult or child can be potentially dangerous.
Our Puppy Kindergarten, Beginning and Rally-O classes last for six consecutive weeks. Our intermediate-level classes (Puppy Intermediate, Intermediate, Action & Distraction and Games & Tricks) are five weeks long. Each weekly session lasts one hour, with the exception of the orientation (first class, without dogs) for Puppy K and Beginning, which can last up to 90 minutes. If your dog is fearful and/or acts aggressively or barks excessively at other dogs, class probably is not right for them at this time.
Managing and training your dog can help prevent inappropriate play which can escalate into aggression. Dogs need to continue their interactions with one another throughout their lives to keep them socially savvy. They rely on us to match them up with appropriate playmates. In addition, close supervision is key when dogs are meeting new canine buddies.

Before the training with HGL our pup was anxiety ridden, didn't know how to be a dog and wouldn't take treats. Now she can sit, recalls to her name, and has started playing! I can't imagine how long it would have taken to get her to be more comfortable with us and learn new things without the instructors and their wealth of knowledge. Aspen and Jackie are phenomenal teachers!
They're kind, receptive to each dog's needs and really have an interest in improving not only the skills of the dog, but the relationships between dog and owner. 10/10 would recommend!

I'm giving this three stars due to mixed feelings. We brought our 2 year old pit bull newly adopted from OHS to get trained, and while they did a good job of training.they were also INCREDIBLY biased against pit bulls and the breed. They would not let my dog have eye contact with the other canine classmates, she was not allowed to interact with them, and we pretty much stayed in a corner of the room throughout each hour of training.
We were even specifically told "Do NOT get another dog, you don't know what she's capable of yet", as well telling the entire class that our dog was a breeding dog and fighting dog. I have no idea how they would come to that assumption, because we never had access to information like that ourselves. They were just making negative assumptions about her and her breed. Well, we adopted another pit mix from the OHS, same age, same gender (F) and everything is AMAZING! They love each other so much! So, my review is basically saying: these trainers are good, as long as you don't have a pit bull.

The staff here is so knowledgeable and helpful. Lisa & I talked over introducing my somewhat aggressive dog to a puppy with me for a substantial amount of time. She was so patient, and gave me fantastic advice about managing that relationship to ensure success. Having a big dog with a bit of a tude is challenging, hut I feel really excited and hopeful about my dudes progress after chatting with them, and can't wait to start sessions to help with socialization. Thank you for your time / help today!

A great place to turn your pup into a good citizen. I brought my rescue to Happy go Lucky two years ago. Susan was patient with us and helped me learn to read my dog's behavior, and my dog learned how to be a dog. We had so much fun as we progressed through the courses. I recommend this great group of instructors to anyone considering classes for their puppy or dog. We still go back for drop in classes and enjoy socializing with a great group of people and their dogs.
