Love these folks ~ always so welcoming. They make sure to have on hand exactly what I need.

I love this store for so many reasons! Firstly, the owners are incredibly warm and knowledgeable. They have food for all of our animals, including our chickens, which is so convenient. Also, Steph and Erika both lead amazing dog training sessions. Our pup has responded so well to the techniques they have showed us so far. The staff here are always enthusiastic about helping and can get you connected with what you need.

A few of the younger staff members offered to carry out the heavy bags of pet food to my car down the street since I'm pregnant, which was really nice! They have a great variety of pet food brands and the size of the store makes it easy to find everything. They have a nice variety of natural dog treats, toys, beds, training gear, leashes, and so on.

We got a really nice harness here, that was recommended by Steph, which immediately stopped our dog from pulling on walks. I'm always happy to support small businesses like Bernal Beast who truly value their customers by providing excellent service and products. It is obvious that the owners genuinely love animals and are passionate about curating the best selection for pet owners. Bernal Beast is a wonderful asset to the community!

WONDERFUL STORE! The staff are incredibly helpful. Went in with our brand new puppy and the store manager helped us choose some essentials to welcome her to our family. We are new pet owners and the store employees were quick to mention their puppy social-hours twice a week, their dog washing station, provided us with vet recommendations at our request in addition to putting us in touch with someone who could potentially pet sit for us should the need arise. Above and beyond service! I appreciate being able to shop local and will definitely come back for our pet needs. Great selection of leashes, chew toys and food.

Pet owners rejoice for your neighborhood pet store! Wag your tail +'s: + Under new management for last 2 years and huge improvements such as better stocking of selections (Stella & Chewy's, Primal, Whimzees, Fromm, etc) + Puppy training available. Inquire at the desk or call them. I always see puppies socializing. It's a small space but good to have an option. + Friendly staff.

Every time I enter I am warmly greeted. Andy my pups drag me into the store because they love it so much. + Variety of treats. My dogs love the bully sticks, yak chews, and well, everything + Other miscellaneous products such as eye and dental care for dogs as well as a section for cats are available. + Dog beds, balls, stuffed toys, leashes, harnesses, and clothing also abound.

Some labels include Puppia, fabdog and Kong. + Free treats. Check out the gumball machine in front of the store. Turn the knob and get free treats! Tuck your tail -'s: - Hmm my dogs are constantly wagging their tails when near the store and dog don't lie about how they feel. Solid pet store for our dogs who live in the neighborhood!

Stephanie Miller and staff are amazing very kind, extremely caring, patient. We have attended a few puppy socials, completed puppy kindergarten and puppy first grade classes and feel so blessed that we found Steph and have been able to attended their courses - positive reinforcement! We have a sweet, sassy and loud barker Aussie doodle Blu and with their help we have been able to learn so much that we have and we will continue to apply with Blu. If you are looking for positive reinforcement and a great staff/team as well as shop for quality pet products and apparel then Bernal Beast is your place.

I was a longtime online customer prior to the new owners. I had a recurring order for some very expensive dog food. Was very happy with the service and they had great prices. I was also more than happy to support a small business and I do so whenever I can. There was an email that went out about the new owners, okay no big deal I thought. I got my next order or two no problem.

My dogs got down to 3 days of food left and I realized my order hadn't shown up. Usually took about 3 days to arrive. I went online to my subscription and it had been canceled without any notice given to me at all no email no phone call nothing. Then I found out that the new owners had cancelled their online orders. Good thing I live in a large city and was able to pick this food up the next day otherwise we'd have been in trouble.

The reason I'm writing this review is I just got an email from Bernal beast, first email since being notified of the new owners. This email talks about the convenience of having pet supplies delivered to your doorstep especially during this pandemic. Then they go on to talk about this much needed service and how we can feel good about supporting a local business. Doesn't seem like they cared too much when they cancelled my subscription in the middle of the pandemic without notice.

My Mochi adores Bernal Beast and I do too! Top quality products and Mochi has loved the puppy socials. I love to support local and BB is the best!

Stopped by today on my walk through the neighborhood, they had cute Valentine's Day treats for pets and owners. The people who worked their were super nice and friendly, I'll definitely be back!

We have been going to Bernal Beast for about 7 months now and we highly recommend it. Stephanie and Alan, the two owners are true animal lovers and very kind. On the day we adopted our dog, Coco, we stopped by Bernal Beast in the evening, only to find out the store was closed already. We were standing around at the door for a couple of minutes deciding where we should go. Alan spotted us from across the street and ran back to the store to tell us the shop is closed, but after he learned that we have just adopted our dog, he re-opened the shop for us because he could not turn us away on our adoption day. Alan gave us so many good recommendations.

Ever since then, we always love our experience at Bernal Beast. They give us personalized recommendations without ever pressuring to buy anything and our dog loves the store so much she will never pass the store without being allowed to go in. Even if we don't allow her to go in, Alan or Stephanie spots her and comes out to give her snacks and love. They are genuinely very kind. This is a very neighborhood pet shop that are run by kind animal lovers and we highly recommend it.

After having to return the second extra-small puppy harness I got for my puppy off Amazon because it didn't fit correctly, I finally decided to bite the bullet and shop the olden way. And you know what? It was a billion times better. They found the perfect harness for her and helped me fit it on her little 6 lb body. I also picked up a microfleece sweater for those foggy SF days.

The staff was amazing with my slightly anxious puppy and let her walk around on the puppy side by herself so she could stretch her legs after being in the car carrier. They helped me find the best sized No-Hides for her tiny mouth. She was thrilled. They also told me about the puppy socials and classes they had and we signed up for Tricks class with Erika. It's now my favorite part of the week. Lychee's figured out to spin, ring a bell, go up a platform, bow and jump through hoops. She's 5 months. She's a super genius and Erika's a super instructor! This is such a neighborhood gem! I'm excited to keep coming back with my puppy!

Bummer. I've been going to Bernal Beast since they opened way back in the day. I think maybe it's more than the new owners can handle and they've gotten too big for their britches. I went in today for cat litter and the 'cat room' was closed off for puppy time. The cashier was at the gate and wouldn't let me in, told me to come back in a half an hour.

I said, "well can you just grab it for me then?" and. she. said. no. Wow. Ok. Guess I will take my business elsewhere. Each customer is as important as the next. I don't know why you would turn anyone away. Ciao!

I really enjoy the staff and the whole feel of Bernal Beast. They're super helpful when you need them to be and chill when you just wanna browse. One thing I love about them is how I feel like I can trust their products. It seems like they only stock things that are good for the health of the pet. Prices on most things are reasonable for what they are. I just get a vibe that a lot of love goes into maintaining this place. It really draws me to it!

OVERALL: Super cute pet store with tons of natural products at good prices. Not close to my house but I will definitely make the trip to come here! PRODUCTS: I love that this store has so many natural products. They have tons of bulk items like bully sticks, pig ears, turkey tendons, etc. They also have natural packaged treats and foods. Many of these products are not available at the pet store closer to my home, so I'm so glad I found this shop.

They also have a wide selection of toys, leashes, collars, harnesses, beds, etc. SPACE: The shop has a cute homey vibe. There was even a dog lounging behind the register! There is a cat side and a dog side to the store. Both sides are pretty large and have many product options. SERVICE: Staff wears masks and has hand sanitizer available. Very friendly service.

My dog got spooked by a large toy dog that was up on display and the cashier took it down until we left. She also gave my dog a treat. They also have a full water bowl available for dogs.

I highly recommend this business. Super friendly and helpful staff and they sell quality products. I needed a new harness for my Lab, Jake. The gentleman spent a bit of time getting Jake fitted. Above and beyond! Thank you!

Great local pet store. New owners in 2020. Has a pet bath in the back for a reasonable price. Carrying some of the higher end treats and lots of options for foods.

Great neighborhood pet shop. Very friendly staff. They host doggy kindergarten and puppy socials. The place is nicely decorated by the new owners. Highly recommend.

I ordered a large (expensive) bag of dog food from Bernal Beasts on June 15th. On June 16th I got an email saying from Jason stating they couldn't fulfill the order until later and asking if I wanted to keep or cancel the order. I wrote back right away saying I needed the dog food sooner and to please cancel the order but I looked forward to being a customer in the future.

It has been more than a week since and I have not heard from anyone at Bernal Beasts regarding the cancelled order. I have not received a refund or the dog food either. I have not gotten a response to any of my emails and cannot get answer when I call the shop. When someone takes your money and doesn't provide the products or services, I believe that is called stealing.

Note: this store is under new ownership as of the last month or so. I wasn't a customer before but going in recently I had a very positive experience with lots of friendly service. If you need to self-groom your doggie/use a dog wash station, I highly recommend Bernal Beast. Their equipment is top notch and reasonably priced.best of all, open during a pandemic!

Our dogs were looking rough and needed some wash and undercoat removal.we removed half a dog worth of fur in their shop with no hate. I did sweep it up for them because I feel guilty leaving a huge mess like that.but it was awesome. Dogs feel so much better.

Online order. Great prices on what I was looking for so I was willing to wait for shipping. Couple items were missing so I contacted Bernal Beast. Fast response and missing items were here in a couple days and I'm in OH. EXCELLENT response time, resolution and customer service. I will definitely order from them again as needs arise. THANK YOU!

Great little store for pet needs! Since we live nearby, it's very handy to pop in and get treats and things when needed for our two little cats. Staff is always helpful and prices are fair (generally lower than amazon, petco, etc). Plus - they deliver!

This used to be such a great store. until they started selling dried rabbit ears as cat and dog treats. I (very nicely) talked with them - and explained that rabbits are pets (just like cats and dogs) and shouldn't be made into treats. After that I said that you wouldn't sell dried cat tails or dog ears. I asked them to stop selling the product. While they were nice to me, they have not stopped selling it, so I will stop shopping there and urge everyone else to do the same.

Great prices for floating aquarium plants not commonly availiable in most pet stores (frogbit and duckweed). Also as added bonus there was a malaysian trumpet snail hitch hiker.

Awesome pet store, they were incredibly helpful in picking out food, treats, and nutrients for my picky puppy and walked me diligently through all of the options, the pros and cons to consider, and what they would choose for their own dogs. Highly recommend this pet store

Bernal Beast is the best pet supply store I've ever been to. Lindsey is awesome and knows a ton about dogs and dog food. Whenever I bring my dogs in here they don't want to leave.

This place has all the basics for all your pet needs and is one of the only locations in Bernal Heights for pet supplies. I tried going this past weekend to purchase a clicker so that I can train my dog and some dog food. The clicker was $1 more than Pet Food Express and the dog food I was purchasing was $2 more than at Pet Food express. If you live in Bernal Heights, this is a great store to go to because of the convenience factor. If you're trying to save a few dollars, you can go to Pet Food Express.
