Dr. Amy Land is a wonderful veterinarian! She has been our dog's vet for several years and has taken the time to get to know him and us. When issues arise, Dr. Land takes the time to discuss options and listen to our questions and concerns. She has earned our respect, trust and appreciation!

Safely the best overall Vet staff I have had experience with in SF County. Despite being understaffed no one was anything less than pleasant. I felt throughout the whole process that they sincerely cared about the wellbeing of my dogs. Exceptional bedside manner, with my dogs; and very noticeably so, with me.

Spent over $5000 here to be told they did not know what was wrong with my dog and that she was most likely going to pass. They were adamant on keeping my dog in their care. I decided if she was going to pass I wanted her home with me. They were not happy that I refused to keep her in their care. When I picked her up she was in a kennel and covered in her own feces.

Clearly she was being neglected. I'm so happy I took her home and away from them. A few days later she recovered and is now happy and healthy. I'm certain she would not have lived had I followed their recommendation to keep her there. I feel they prioritize money and took advantage of me being in a vulnerable state. I'm certain they performed unnecessary surgery on her and would not listen to what I believed was actually wrong with her. I felt pressured by them and taken advantage of. I will not bring any animals back here and will advise others to go somewhere else.

First off we couldn't thank Dr. Kelsey enough for saving and helping our Bubbles. We were scared and she reassured us that it will be okay. She was super helpful, knowledgeable. Our cat became super sick after a week of having her litter and we didn't know what was wrong, but Dr. Kelsey helped her. She's now back to normal, being the best momma and cat she could be. Thank you again to Dr. Kelsey and the amazing staff that also watched Bubbles over her two night stay at the hospital.

We have taken our schnauzer to Smith's for six years. They are always pleasant and professional. We all have had nothing but the best care and with a smile. Covid had an impact on veterinarians and their staff including Smith's, they've gone through it and are still the best animal care givers in Santa Fe. We always recommend Smith's.

We had just moved to Santa Fe and our cat was in distress with an eye problem. The staff at Smith Veterinary Hospital were very accommodating at seeing him quickly. Dr. Kelsey and nurse technician Patty were knowledgeable, thorough, and very supportive. They were also able to provide a quick referral to a specialist. Very caring team!

Was super sweet and referred me to a different hospital because they were full and my kitty had an emergency. But that reference and their recommendation for me to get her seen right away literally saved for life. And anybody who takes the time to do that instead of just showing me away like the other vets did is an awesome place to be. They gave me a great recommendation.

I took the time to hear my concerns even though they come help me and they still took the time to refer me to a vet that could at that very moment. So to me that's pretty awesome and that makes them a five-star vet in my book because they genuinely care about the animals and it's not just about the money

My dog was bitten by a bigger dog. Smiths was thorough, caring, knowledgeable and was able to get my dog in asap and fix him up. Great followup instructions. Christine (vet tech) and Dr. Wendy Duran, couldn't have been kinder and patient with my questions and concerns. I highly recommend their hospital.

They Always do call backs to check on your pet and show sincere interest. They were Highly recommended when I moved here from California and I see why whenever I need to get my Rottie Vet care. I am so sorry I haven't reviewed sooner! You took such incredible care of my baby, Mel, months ago and were so patient with her when she didn't initially improve. You gave such incredible food recommendations, were so kind and saw her on an emergency basis several times, and made sure that she was well before releasing her. She was so sick from shots given to her at a nearby establishment and you were able to reverse the effects.

I am so incredibly grateful for your care and kindness. I recommend you to everyone in town and your service and compassion is evident from the moment you walk through the door. So sorry, again, for not posting this sooner! Thank you so so much for caring for my cat!

Ever since they did away with scheduled appointments, this place has become impossible. You simply cannot see a vet for any reason without waiting hours -- something I just can't afford to do with a full-time job. My dog also never sees the same veterinarian twice, and this has resulted in conflicting recommendations for her care. A truly inexcusable business model designed to maximize cash-flow at the expense of pet care and customer convenience. Avoid. We will be changing vets as soon as we can find another to take us.

I called this evening because my 4 month old puppy wouldn't stop throwing up, mind you, it was 6:57pm. I left my home in Pojoaque and was in Santa Fe before 7:30 and they said they could not see my puppy and I would have to take her to Albuquerque for treatment. Smith doesn't close until 8, and my sick puppy was refused service. I was in hysterics because I didn't know what was wrong with my dog.

I was in Albuquerque by 8:07, they had more than enough time to see my dog. They have zero compassion and are uncaring, they shouldn't be in this business with vulnerable animals. I'm completely disgusted and will never attempt to go there again, if you say you're open until 8, stand by that. I have given them thousands of dollars in service and will not spend another cent there to be treated so poorly. This was not the first time this has happened either.

Horrible horrible veterinary hospital. My dog has been a patient of Smith's for years, 13 to be exact. Service started going downhill a few years ago. Last night, my 13yr old collie mix had what we believe to be a stroke. She was frantically pacing in circles, extremely disoriented and excessive panting and drooling. We called Smith's, begging them to get her in.

It was 7:15pm, and they were open for another hour. The very rude girl who answered the phone told us that there was no way they would see my dog because they were closing soon (IN FORTY-FIVE MINUTES!). I begged and she rudely told me to wait until morning. My dog started having grand mal seizures a few hours later, and after a painful night full of suffering, she passed away at home this morning.

All I have to say is this, shame on you Smith's Veterinary Hospital. You should be horribly ashamed of yourselves. The only thing this "animal hospital" cares about is making money. They do not care about you, or the animal that you love so dearly. Please find a more reputable vet who will care for your animal like they matter, because they do not matter to Smith's.

Worst place to take your pet! We were visiting NM & had to take our pet in because he allergies got worse being there. They stated they could see her & there was a fee for $145 deposit and then the shot fee. Before we left we asked if there were any other fees to be paid they said no we were good to go. Then later that night we got a call stating that we still owed them $145 more because there was an emergency fee along with paying for the shot (which by the way did not work & our Vet here in AZ stated the brown dose they gave her is not the Cytoplast its a clear liquid) and we still had to bring her back to our normal Vet to take care of her.

I will never take our dog to someone outside of our normal Vet because they didn't care about her they just saw money & that is not right or how you do business or expect people to refer others to your company! Buyer beware that you get everything laid out before you take your pet! They were supposed to send us a bill breakdown by email while we were still in NM & call us but their manager Jessica never did and now in the mail we are getting a bill for that difference.

Funny part now is on the bill isn't asking for an Emergency fee they are stating that the fee is for the allergy shot of $145. Crazy because that is nothing of what we pay in Arizona for the same shot. Sad that you can't trust people or businesses anymore especially during these times when you would think that people would be more caring and concerned! I guess that doesn't make a difference anymore! It's the principal of what your are told by one person & then it changes to fit the narrative which is not right.

I'm new to the area and was referred here. Dr Kelsey was fantastic. She was very thorough with her examination and tests and very friendly as well just like the rest of the office. Everything was thoroughly explained to me and follow up calls were made to check up on my dog. I was a little surprised with the price. It was a little high compared to what I was used to. But. you pay for what you get and I had a great experience and have a healthy dog!

Absolute worst service. This clinic and the staff does not respect its customers. I showed up before the clinic opened (7:15 am) so I'd be first or second in line. I was second. The clinic has signs for where customers should wait in line in the parking lot. When the clinic opened, they directed us inside to the reception area, which had four receptionists.

At this point quite a few other customers walked in and signed in ahead of those who'd waited in line. When I told the receptionist what had happened and that I should be second in line, she told me there was nothing she could do about it. I asked her what the purpose was of a line if others could just walk in and get ahead? She said she couldn't help me.

I have been a client of Smith's since 2007, primarily because of Dr. Andrea Trujillo and the loving and professional way she has treated my dogs. I am now on my fourth one with her, and each has had its own special journey and relationship with Dr. T. I tell my pup she cannot get sick on Dr. T's' days off. Only once has my pup not complied. Even so, the care at Smith's is wonderful.

All the vets are top notch and the staff is kind, patient, informed and efficient. The pandemic brought challenges to all of us, but Smith's and staff were steadfast in their continued loving care for its furry friends and their parents. We are so grateful to you all.

Sadly I am taking my business elsewhere after years at Smith Veterinary. I know everyone is short-handed but not being able to speak to a Vet when you call, being hung up on and not being able to even schedule an appointment make it impossible to keep using my favorite Vet; Dr. Mike.

I honestly would give them no stars. My dog is 15+ years old. For the first time i experience my dog having a seizure I try to take him in. But unfortunately I need a $200 deposit before they even treat my dog. I thought their profession was to look after animals. Unfortunately money comes before the care and treatment of animals. Thanks for the hospitality I really feel like my dog is important.

During our trip to Santa Fe our pit bull (Mora) had broken her toe nail inside her paw. We called several clinics and were turned away due "not taking new clients". When we reached out to Smith Veterinary Hospital, they were able to take us in right away. Upon arriving and going through typical processing we met with the vet tech Abigail who was immediately able to build a rapport with Mora.

Then Dr. Sanchez entered and did the exact same with her. He explained what she required and was able to get her into surgery (minor) and out the door in a short time. All I can say is "thank you" for taking such good care of our family and not gouging us non-locals.

I was impressed by the caring, professional service received when we brought our beloved weirdo, Brownie (aka Boodle), in over concerns about his eyes. Dr. Martinson was thorough in her explanation about the tests she was doing and their results. Vet Tech Lindsey was wonderful and very knowledgeable. Office staff was also amazing, especially as they were being bombarded with nonstop questions and phone calls. We have been going to Smith's for many years and have always felt that our furry family members have received the best care there is.

I have to give kudos and many thanks to the vet team. They took our cat on right away, were very considerate and caring. The vet was great. Unfortunately our poor kitty of 12 years didn't make it. The vet team was very caring and let us be with our Angel kitty while he passed. They are great and will be taking our other cat to them for regular care. Thank you all for how nice and considerate y'all were with our feelings for our fur baby! A thousand thanks!

The Urgent care staff and veterinarians were caring, helpful, knowledgeable and successful in treating my cat. The follow up phone calls were above and beyond. Everyone cared so much about my cat who spent the night and day with them. My cat came home, not only well, but sweeter and more loving. She had a good experience. Thank you.

They have very competent, nice doctors. However, they do not make appointments except for "wellness" exams and dentals. Even then you may experience long wait times as we have. You show up and take your chances. We've waited 20min; we've 2+hours. First come first serve. I've seen handwritten signs posted they are only checking in emergencies that day.

They clearly lack admin capability to anticipate customer need based on past experience. Customer time is as important or more so than facility time. Are they being overwhelmed by demand? Perhaps. Then they need the admin chops to budget for this and go out to the market and hire add'l help - vets, vet techs, whatever they need to - and pay accordingly, charge the customers commensurately. Basic business. If they do not accommodate the growing community need other vets will benefit and Smith will lose lots of business. They are about to lose us.

We had to take our precious and most loved dog in on an emergency visit. She ended up being placed in ICU and for two days Dr Mike and Dr Cindy did everything they possibly could to save our girl. They were so compassionate and understanding of the importance of this girl to our lives. We could not ever imagine better care anywhere. When we had to make the difficult decision to put her down they, again, were amazing and kind. We will never trust another place with our most loved fur babies.

I can't say enough about this wonderful place. traveling across the country from NY, this staff took our sweet 13 lb Boston Terrier in, as busy as they were, NOT A PATIENT from out of state and they were so kind, competent and professional. She needed stitches removed and some wound cleaning. The consultation was excellent and we were so happy with the care. A million thanks!

You received two calls from me. I was treated rudely by both receptionists and they hung up on me after your hospital missed a very obvious cancer diagnosis. Please don't pretend in front of people that you give a damn about me, any of the animals you treat or your clientele. You are disingenuous, and it is annoying to me and unbecoming to you. You failed to spot two very large tumors on our dog and sent it home to die on painkillers. This is malpractice and you know it. So just stop.

I have always been happy with the care of my animals at Smiths until lately. The prices have increased considerably. They used to allow you to drop off your animal in the morning for an extra ten dollars and pick your animal up by the end of the day. This allowed me to not miss any work. Now, if you bring your animal in and there are no appointments available, they charge you $150. plus the cost of the visit, meds, etc.

Today I was not allowed to even go in and use the restroom, but told to drive down the road to find a place.? REALLY? I have spent thousands of dollars at this vets office. I have been vaccinated against Covid and wore a mask. They would still not allow me to come inside to just use the restroom. even though a few months ago I was allowed to go into the lobby. To say I am upset is an understatement! There is new management and there appears to be no compassion for the owners.

I'm with the folks who say this practice has significantly devolved over the past several years. I've taken multiple animals in, originally got great service from Dr. Dobesh; then wound up getting a number of random vets who were just into maximizing billing. For example, as instructed I brought my cat in for a follow-up lab test after x-rays and tests the week before (read: $1000+ bill) turned up negative.

The tech drew blood and I waited for the results. 20 minutes later a vet I'd never met came out to say this blood test was normal. I heard the front desk say, "I bill for the test, right?" and the vet said, "No, charge for an office visit." This vet never looked at my cat but nonetheless charged a $50 "Office Visit." And the long wait associated with not having appointments also has its downsides, since there is no sick-vs-well waiting room, and my cat came home with a URI after we waited for an hour in the same room as an obviously sick cat.

The covid experience has been difficult for vets, but was unusually poorly managed at Smiths. Wait in the parking lot, we'll take you in order. HA! I was told to move my car twice, was told to be patient when (after 30 minutes) I asked how long it would be -- but was NEVER even asked my name or reason for the visit in the 50 minutes we sat in the heat. Smith's gave up performing regular veterinary services for 6 months due to not having adequate staff, but still managed to cash in on the Covid pet adoption craze by doing lucrative new pet visits upon appointment.

Existing patients that had non-emergency problems, however, were not seen for months, during which time one of my cats developed what turned out to be cancer. Needless to say, I found another vet who would treat my cat during Covid, and now use Smith's only for emergencies. I know that a veterinary practice is both a profession and a business, but IMO Smith's stresses the business part to the exclusion of good customer service.

Sort of have been in decline over the last couple years it seems, mostly regarding the customer care experience. Have had a relationship with them for about 5 years and the CSRs or front desk people have been increasingly short, rude, impatient or kind of mean. Maybe they are overworked, but whatever it is it's started to feel bad going here since just before covid. I've had good experiences with the docs there, although typically it's a different doc every time and some listen better than other as expected. It's mostly just the office staff that seems to treat me with a lot of resentment when I try to get an appt or drop in.

After calling around to at least 5 vets on Good Friday, smith's was the only vet in Santa Fe willing to see my sick dog who had a gastric problem. They have a drive up service which costs $125, but that is credited to the exam. They will be my vet going forward for sure!

I actually love this place, but had a frustrating time at the beginning with one of the young ladies at the desk, everyone else was exceptional. That put aside, I am so very thankful that I was able to get my baby in on a walk-in basis for illness. I live about an hour away, and with no luck not one vet answered our calls(our vet was out of state) the staff took my baby in and with care and made sure I was aware of everything going on and all options available. Returning the next with our baby, my husband was taught some things to do to keep him going to get better, and also the vets reached out to me to give me a thorough rundown of it all.

It eased my mind while I had to go to work, to know they were on hand if anything needed to be addressed. This place is by far the best care I have encountered for my angels over the years. I can not thank them enough, and show my appreciation for all of them! Our Herbie.love bug is doing Amazing!

This place was a mess I got here for my apt 10min early and both parking lots were full and over 15+ people waiting for an apt. Seems like they are way in over their heads. Don't book so many apts back to back if you can't accommodate it. Don't get me wrong the staff is very friendly but just seems a little crazy right now. With all of this said my dog was in and out in no time and I understand your pressures. But you guys are the best in town.

Fantastic experience with great COVID procedures. Check in (East Side) and drop off (West Side) of building really facilitated social distancing. Staff made first trip very easy and were very conscientious about calling to let me know what was going on with our pet, when to pick her up, and giving a diagnosis as well as prescriptions!

The following is the email I just left for the clinic. I cut and pasted the address from their website. It got kicked back to me "ADDRESS NOT FOUND. "Figures. I just got back from your clinic. My dog Savannah wasn't seen. It isn't just a matter of her not getting medical attention. The woman working behind the counter - middle-aged, hispanic - was unconscionably rude. Here's what happened: I arrived in the parking lot and called your number as per your instructions online.

No one answered. I called again with the same result. From what I read in your instructions, I was supposed to go into the lobby if nobody answered the phone. I tried but the door was locked. The woman aforementioned came to the door and told me the instructions were on door. I told her I read the instructions and nobody was answering the phone. She said call again and I'll answer.

I called again several times and she didn't answer. I knocked on the glass in the sidelight and she came out. Here's the exchange that followed: Her: What do you want? We're only seeing sick dogs and emergencies. Me:My dog went to the dog park yesterday and damaged 2 of her paws, but. At that point she cut me off. What I was going to say before she rudely interrupted me is: but now it seems to be more than that. She's become so crippled, she can just barely walk and she's obviously in pain. Her: Come back tomorrow! (She yelled this twice!) If you don't consider my dog's problem serious enough to warrant attention today, that's bad enough, but there was no justification for being so offensive and uncivil. She could have denied my dog medical attention and at least been gracious about it.
