Join us at the sanctuary for a fun, interactive vegan cooking class with Chef Amy Webster! You'll enjoy an engaging learning atmosphere that serves. We are on high alert at the sanctuary as Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) has spread across the U.S. This virus has heartbreaking implications. We are helping improve the way the criminal justice system responds to crimes against animals through trainings and investigations/rescues. Our 85-acre sanctuary is home to 200+ animals - dogs, cats and farmed animals - most of whom were rescued from cases of cruelty and neglect.
Services
We are improving the way the criminal justice system responds to crimes against animals. We investigate reports of animal cruelty and neglect, provide rescue for victim animals and provide trainings for law enforcement, prosecutors, veterinarians, and animal control. Located on 85-acres in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains, our sanctuary is home to approximately 200 animals including dogs, cats and farmed animals. Most of these animals arrived as victims of cruelty and neglect. We provide medical care and rehabilitation to allow them a second chance at life.
Because it is our responsibility to be a voice for the most vulnerable, human and nonhuman. Because I believe every animal deserves to live a life without cruelty, neglect, or abuse. Every time I see an animal let go of their past and know that they will no longer be scared, hungry or unloved. When Nautia, a 2-legged rescue dog, was put in a wheeled cart so she could play in newly fallen snow. She was so happy. Passing through our gate with a victim animal; I promise them never again will you be abused, neglected, scared or cold.
We work with legal experts, prosecutors, judges and others to optimize the way the criminal justice system works for animals. From improving our animal cruelty laws, to ensuring animals have advocates during court proceedings, our team works at every level of the system to give animals a voice where they otherwise wouldn't have one.
Document with photos/videos if possible: Video and photography can be extremely useful in investigating and prosecuting crimes against animals. It is very helpful if your camera records a time and date stamp on each photo. Only attempt to document with photos or video if you can do so safely and legally.

Wonderful organization all the way around. My volunteer experience was top notch and I also choose to donate to Pasado's for the incredibly important work they do for the animals. I love everything they do! Thank you everyone and keep up the great work.

My daughter & her pre-school class recently visited Pasado's Safe Haven for a truly amazing field trip! During the holiday season my daughter started her first "Tzedakah Box" - a Jewish tradition of saving up for a charitable cause - and pledged her savings to help out rescue chickens! After reaching out to Pasado's to ask if we could visit in the New Year to donate the Tzedakah box savings, Teacher Bando (Brandon) helped us to organize the perfect chicken-centric tour of the farm for Betty and her entire pre-school class! Thanks so much to Brandon and Pasado's Safe Haven for an incredibly memorable, educational, and exciting trip to Pasado's!

I am so happy to be a volunteer at Pasado's and to be working in support of animals rescued from cruelty amongst people who feel the same way. Well worth the approx 1-hr drive from Seattle every time I'm out at the sanctuary volunteering. The work they are doing is so important. I am excited and grateful to be a part of it.

In 2012 & 2013 I had 4 cats I needed to get fixed before I moved to Oregon in March of 13. Pasado's was so accommodating by letting me know where & when to be at their mobile vet clinics. My cats were all taken care of, which made my move down here so much less stressful. I ended up sending 8 cases of cat treats to their adoption center, & send them donations when I can. Joe

The staff here is amazing and their set up itself is extraordinary. I've never seen any sort of shelter for these precious babies as amazing as this! My husband and I tried to foster to adopt a kitty which ended up not working out unfortunately : BUT the team here was amazing with giving us information and helping with the process of fostering the kitty and getting them settled with our current cat. I have now been recommending all my friends around this area to look into this place when they're looking for a fur baby. Thank you all so much for what you do!

I was extremely disappointed to find out that they won't let you volunteer or eat at Pasado's unless your vegan. I really wanted to do something for my community, with my family, but I don't think I can look past that. I would never tell someone that wants to help me with something that they had to eat only kosher foods, or that they could only volunteer if they were wearing a hajib.

It is like saying gay people can volunteer, but they are not allowed to hold hands while within the sanctuary. I have nothing against people that are Vegan, one of my best friends is, and I would gratefully eat meals she prepared for me. I have no problems with them only providing vegan foods. However, I believe this organization fails to do all they can for advocacy, and the care of their animals, if they are willing to turn their back on those that would not have their freedoms withdrawn, as a prerequisite for volunteering for an animal sanctuary.

I requested a waiver on this policy which was denied without any conversation. I am a female electrician. I suffer under enough inequality that I don't need an organization like this judging me for how I eat. Which is a shame because I have a lot to offer. I have a class A CDL, 11 years as an electrician, 5 years grooming experience for both cats and dogs, 9 years experience working at a dog daycare and boarding facility, friends and family that volunteer for Pasado's, I am a loving and loyal pet owner (just ask my 18 year old dog Roger), and I myself volunteered there many times as a teenager and young adult.

I feel like the benefits I could provide this organization are being marginalized, and I am really disappointed, because I was excited to get involved. Surely what I eat is not as important as my giving heart. Maybe they think that allowing a nonvegan will lose Pasado's their vegan following that they have built. Or that my diet is less worthy than theirs and that makes them better or more deserving. Making blanket rules that revoke liberties should not be the stance of an inclusive organization.

I have a hard time imagining someone telling me to my face that I can't eat my lunch, or I have to eat by myself in the parking lot. It is easy to hide behind a screen, I tried to engage in polite conversation, but was ignored and shot down. I encourage anyone else that has felt bad about this policy to speak up, as a single voice is hard to hear. -Eileen Cole I was contacted back after writing this review and Pasados said you do not have to be vegan to volunteer, you just can't bring in non vegan items to Pasados.

Which isn't true. I guarantee the dogs and cats eat meat brought into the sanctuary. If they are not feeding the cats meat there is a problem. I think they would be interested to see the expression on my husband's face when I had to explain the situation. No one should feel they have the right to tell me how to dress, what to eat, and whom to love.

This rule is clearly pointed at veganism, and not just a random request to not have non vegan things brought into the sanctuary. It is clearly a rule created to make those that eat meat, cheese and eggs feel like they are not welcome and that they are outsiders. Although Pasados would not reach out to me personally, I did read their Google review response.

It was obviously more about saving face than actually responding to any of the points I tried to make in my review. Pretty much a canned response without any real content. They are big on saying that they are advocates for the vegan diet, but they only want to teach Vegans to be Vegan. Surely advocacy is not about preaching to the choir. Contact volunteers and guide them towards veganism by encouraging changes in their diet, providing information on the benefits, and providing some vegan recipes, don't force them. Veganism is rarely an overnight process.

Many need to make incremental changes to their diet in order to move in that direction. I know from living with a vegan that it is a learning process to make a variety of balanced and tasty vegan meals.

We've adopted two cats from here and could not be more happy with the experience. The staff clearly love every animal they care for and work tirelessly to help socialize, treat and home animals that have been through heart breaking trauma. The entire mission of this organization is amazing and we highly recommend anyone looking to add an addition to their home or farm to come here. They really take the time to offer honest insight into each animals needs and help you find the perfect match. So grateful these guys exist!

Only got to visit for a short bit, but they're doing great work here and provide a robust living environment for these animals. What's also cool is the number of volunteers and the obvious community they've created. We hope to be back!

Pasado's is a wonderful sanctuary set upon more than 80 beautiful acres. The friendly staff make you feel welcome as soon as you arrive. They have tours open to the public regularly where you can donate and visit the the sanctuary to meet the animals. It's truly a magical experience. Seeing the love these animals have and how well they're cared for just warms your heart and makes you want to hug them all.

I adopted my senior cat, Bonnie, from them 2 years ago. She had been there for almost 15 years because nobody wanted a special needs cat with aggression. Turns out she just needed someone with patience. She gave me the best year of my life and I'm happy I finally gave her her forever home in her final year, but I'm thankful she had Pasado's for 15 to take care of her before she found me. They do extraordinary things for animals and will go above and beyond. I highly recommend them.

Volunteers and staff who work for neglected and abused animals, especially farm animals, like those at Pasados, are S.A.I.N.T.S. in my books. Clearly. Simply. Plainly. Thank you to everyone who makes Pasados a clean, safe, healthful place for animals to recover and find their forever homes. Just started to volunteer there and I'm SO impressed by the volunteer team and how well-run the sanctuary is.

If you're considering spending your time, energy, and donations for a great animal welfare cause (not just for dogs and cats), please consider Pasados! It was an easy choice for me.

Another wonderful animal sanctuary! Good variety of cooking classes, and we left with wonderful, healthy recipes to try at home. The goats are so sweet! Gift shop items are a little pricey, but it is for a good cause. There was plenty of parking when we got there. They have compost in addition to the trash and recycle bins which is great! One thing I might suggest changing is making the restrooms fragrance free so more people can experience the sanctuary.

Their directions in their email were very helpful and easy to understand. I highly recommend taking a tour of the shelter to everyone. Plus all of the animals are looking for loving homes, so bring friends with yards/farm land! : Thank you Pasados!

We just took a vegan cooking class here and had a lot of fun. This is not a restaurant but they have plenty of cooking classes and one that jumped out to us was a vegan cheese class. They did four types including cheesecake, Mac and cheese, a cheese spread, and a nacho cheese. All of them were good and it's always nice to know how to make them on your own especially since cheese trends to be a hand thing to give up when people transition to eating more ethicaly. Side note- They seem to take great care of the animals

Unfortunately couldn't visit the kitties and birdies when we visited but the work they do here is great. Did a self guided tour, included lunch and some hot drinks. Happy to support their mission caring for sick animas, fostering those in need of a home, and rescuing some that have been victims of abuse or neglect. Friendly staff, lovely bit of land, well signed so it's easy enough to get around. I would definitely come back, and hopefully meet more piggies.

Wonderful sanctuary. My daughter volunteered there for years and I spent many hours visiting. We adopted a dog and cat from Pasado's as well. The work they do is so needed in our world of throw away animals. If you donate to animal welfare causes, Pasado's is the real deal. All money goes to help these animals.

I've volunteered and attended events at this farm animal sanctuary for many years, and I'm so grateful for all the love and hard work that goes into Pasado's care for animals and its pro-animal message. It gives me hope for humanity.

Very informational. This is a wonderful organization that cares deeply about animals. They provide a happy, safe place for many beautiful farm creatures, from the smallest to the largest. And dogs and cats. Definately changed the way I think about food. Truly an unforgettable experience.

I WASTED my time trying to take my dog to get spayed. I showed up 2 mins late EVEN THOUGH I had an appointment and told me I had to RESCHEDULE. The spray station gave me some excuse that they were too booked to get her spayed. When I tried to call to reschedule, the phone was disconnected. TERRIBLE service and TERRIBLE appointment booking. I wouldn't recommend this service to anyone. Just go to pets mart and pay a little more for better customer service and better appointments. I would give 0 stars if I could.

While I don't write reviews much, I felt like what I experienced might help balance some of the other reviews here because when I was ready to take my dog here I happened to look them up on Yelp. It made me suddenly nervous unnecessarily. My first interaction was via email. The office staff was very helpful in getting my dog placed in an appointment for a mobile neuter clinic when the online form didn't function properly for fitting my dog's size to the kennels available.

One negative review mentioned that you need to be prepared to stand in the rain. Well, yes, you do. And the info email I received warned me about that and suggesting I bring an umbrella. My friend used to say we spend either time or money. If we get a good deal, we usually spend time. If we don't want to invest that time, we spend money. In this case, for people like our family who don't have the money to spend, it is somewhat of a given that you're going to invest time.

This is pretty standard for low cost clinics. This isn't Pasado's fault and doesn't deserve a negative rating. Pasado's staff at the mobile clinic was well organized and efficient. The gal in charge was polite and friendly while not wasting time. Yes, we did stand a bit. We also chatted amongst ourselves about animal experiences.

We saw cute little puppies whose mama was there for a last litter spay. And the staff did a great job of letting us know when we were free to go back to wait in our vehicles for a few minutes until we were called back while they organized the next step. When they loaded the dogs, each dog was brought one at a time. A second leash was added so the dog transferred hands with two leashes on.

If the dog was unsure, the owner was asked to lead the way into the truck so the dog could follow and the owner stayed in as the dog was placed in the kennel. The door was closed each time a dog was lead in before loading into the kennels. This process was repeated with every animal so you can see it would take a bit to load them all. I saw nothing today that lent toward negligence in the safe handling of the dogs.

Quite the contrary. They did their best to keep the dogs safe and secure both physically and mentally. One of the first dogs loaded today was a young, high strung lab who was barking incessantly. I was concerned because with that kind of anxiety or excitement, it can create a lot of stress for other animals. My dog doesn't do well around that kind of barking.

The staff continued the boarding process but before they got to my dog, they had already determined that for all the animals involved, a mild sedative would need to be administered to help the lab calm down. They even caught the owner in the parking lot to let him know the situation, although they didn't have to do that because when you sign consent to treat, you sign consent to treat.

So again, that took a bit of time. But if it was my dog, I'd have appreciated knowing they didn't leave him in there in a state of stress. On picking up the dogs, (which, incidentally was right on the minute they asked us to be there) yes, the staff did repeat a touch of the recovery instructions that had been handed out but no, they didn't treat us like idiots. Mainly, the staff went over the pain med instructions and cleanliness instructions.

But here is one reason this needs to be repeated individually. Individuals have individual circumstances. Today, the paperwork said to keep my dog calm and quiet for 10 days indoors. My dog hasn't been calm and quiet since the day he came home to us! He's a higher than high energy dog. He also hasn't been able to figure out potty training at all so hasn't been allowed throughout the house.

So I needed specific attention from someone knowledgable to know how to handle the specifics of our situation. The whole process did take time. But if you need a low cost option, this is an excellent choice. Oh. And my dog's sutures look great.

Where is Silver Pasado's? For those whose don't know Pasado's lost a dog earlier this month. A dog that was entrusted into their care by the owner to be neutered. They are doing their best to keep this out of the public eye but that is unacceptable. We won't stop asking until we get answers. Your facebook is nothing but you asking for money and posting random photos instead of trying to use the power of social media to find Silver. Own up and fix your mistake. Shame on you.

I fell in love with a kitten at an adoption event, immediately put in my paperwork to adopt her. The volunteers told me that after a home inspection, the kitten would be mine within a week. Then the runaround began. The adoption coordinator told me wait and be patient because the kitten wasn't ready to be adopted. After continually following up for the last 3 months, I just found her listed up for adoption with not one word to me.

When I reached out, I was told that I would not have the opportunity to be considered to adopt her. I asked my vet for advice, she advised to not work with Pasado. I won't share her comments, check with your own vet, but it says a lot to me when my cat doctor says to stay away from an animal shelter.

I attended Pasado's Safe Haven farm tour on August 22 and was very impressed. The volunteers were very friendly and shared each animal's story with us. We toured the entire farm, which was beautiful. All of the animals seemed very happy and had plenty of room to roam and play. At the end of the tour we were treated to a vegan lunch. It was one of the best days I've had in awhile and I want to go back again to spend more time with the animals.

I adopted a kitten from Pasado's and couldn't be happier! She came from a hoarder home so the beginning of her life was rough but the awesome team at Pasado's rescued her and her siblings and gave them the medical care they needed. She is now very well adjusted in her new home :- THANK YOU for saving her life!

I can't express my gratitude or my respect enough for the folks at Pasado's safe haven and spay and neuter program. They have raised awareness for the benefits and importance of spay and neuter throughout our area with low income services. Without them, our shelters would be overflowing with the unwanted 'mistakes' that nature brings. Thank you, team- from our family, our pets, and the community.

I have waited quite a while to write this review and then realized I am selfish for hesitating as animals shouldn't have to suffer the way my poor dog did and I have the responsibility to warn others. We utilized Pasado's Spay Station to fix our female dog who we rescued right as she went into her first heat--being that she had already been abused, we didn't feel an unwanted pregnancy would benefit anyone plus there are so many uncared for animals in the world as it is. Anyway, the day itself went smoothly and exactly how they said it would on their website.

When I picked my dog up she had fecal matter smeared on her and was crying and whining in the most pitiful way. The crying went on for longer than I would have expected so I took her to a vet to be checked out (as previous people have stated nobody answers the phone when you call pasados, even the number they gave out at the spay station). To make a long and very emotionally draining story short-- 5 days of worrying, a major surgery for my already traumatized pup, a long recovery and $5,000 later.my dog recovered from Pasado's completely botched procedure.

Now granted, after the vet who did the second surgery called and asked the Pasados vet wtf they did, they paid for the surgery, however this didn't cover the costs of X-rays, ultrasounds, lab work, and visits that were done. Bottom line-- save your money and have your animal fixed in a real facility. Your pet should be a family member and I am embarrassed and ashamed that we utilized this service for our dog.

This safe haven in one word is: COMPASSIONATE. I went on a tour back in December 2013. I literally cried my eyes out hearing the animal's stories and how much they suffered at the hands of humans. The tour offered delicious vegan chickn strips and field roast with a delicious gravy. The tour bought my journey of veganism full circle. Hopefully people see how much animals suffer for the sake of humanity's appetite and change how they persee animals -- and not just companion ones we keep warm at home.

When I read the reviews I was taken by surprise, then I looked at the dates and noticed that most of these horrible reviews were from 2 years ago. My experience was quite different so if these were true I can assure you this is not the case in present time. To make a long story short I recently started fostering a Foxhound from Pasado's. Chuck was one of 72 Foxhounds that were rescued partly from Pasado's.

These dogs lived in terrible conditions and were neglected and abused. Chuck will never be a "normal" dog but I'm sure going to work with him and make him the best he can be. Pasado's has spent thousands of $$$ rehabing these dogs so that they can be placed in home. If you have ever been there the place is huge with so many different animals all from different situations.

It probably cost a fortune to keep things up. To give you an idea of how much these people care, for me to take Chuck home it wasn't as easy as going in talking a couple hours and walking out with a dog. It took about a month for the process to go through. First off I was interviewed and they explained what I was getting into. Then I was introduced to Chuck and I came to visit several times so he would get used to me. Pasado's came to my home and did an inspection to make sure Chuck would be safe at my home.

The day of arrival to my home Chuck was checked by the vet once more and lightly sedated so he could make the trip to my home. They provided me with food, 2 kennels, a harness, and collar. They never once asked for any $$ from me. They were so happy that I was opening my home to him. I have personal cell phone numbers that I can call at anytime if I have a problem or question.

This hardly sounds like an organization that doesn't care for animals and are using funds inappropriately. As for Rio, I can't answer to what happened and why. But I can tell you that there is always two sides to a story. Unfortunately, there are people out there that stretch the truth to make the story more shocking. And I would never listen to what an unhappy employee or volunteer has to say.

Maybe Pasado's was cleaning house and decided that some people no longer fit in with the program. In closing I highly respect the people at Pasado's and what they stand for. I'm so happy to have Chuck at our home. Please consider adopting your next pet from them you won't be sorry. And if you have been to Pasado's and had a great experience please share it here. Susan
