I have been a customer of this practice for 30 years. Doctor Theuerkauf and Dr. Hayman and their staff have been wonderful to work with. I trust their judgement and treatment of all my golden retrievers over the years. Likewise I too have been treated with respect, care and concern regarding my pets. Recently I needed urgent care for my 12 + year old golden for what turned out to be a vestibular disease. We were worked in right away and treatment was spot on. Thank you Northwoods Animal Hospital!

To the Vet who helped my dog Stitch go to his final resting place. The care you showed during probably the hardest point in my life is appreciated. Asking me what was going on with him and giving me your advice based off of your years of experience just absolutely put me at ease. When you don't have a fatal diagnosis like in my case there is definitely this doubt in the back of your mind as to if what you are doing is right or not.
By just being there and asking the questions and taking the time, thank you sir from the bottom of my heart. I don't know if you realize just how important that is to people in this horrible situation, or at least to me anyhow, you helped give me peace where I really thought there would be none to be found outside of not having to watch my best friend suffer further.
For those of you who aren't aware id like to just tell you that from experiences I've read and stories I've heard about this impossible process, they have a very quaint little room where this is done; softly lit, comfortable and cozy and not what my fear was of just a well lit sterile dr's office type of room. It feels morbid in a way leaving a review of a euthanasia process but perhaps it may be helpful on some level for someone out there facing this terrible crisis.
I felt very at peace and at ease after the process though the tears fell hard. Tonight I sit here absent of my best friend but felt compelled to share this review. Thank you to all the great people at Northwoods Animal Hospital for helping my family in an extremely difficult time.

I'm from out of town and my elderly dog had a seizure. I was able to get into this vet immediately after explaining my situation (I called two other vets with no prevail). The dr. was amazing! He was very knowledgeable and had confirmed everything I had researched previous to my appointment. He was compassionate and followed up with me right away after I called the following day for lab results. I highly recommend this vet clinic. It couldn't have gone any better.

This is the worst vet i have ever has the misfortune of dealing with. they have absolutely no empathy for your animal. doctor hayman there is worthless. uncaring about your pet, does not listen to you. who knows your dog better then you the owner. His only concern is MONEY. they never got my dogs info correct. didn't get her prescriptions filled on time. they even got her birth date wrong by 4 years. you would be better treating your pet yourself then taking them to this place. never again will i step through their door.

*Disclaimer: Sad Story* Our family dog Copper passed away yesterday after having an extreme allergic reaction to a bee sting. Copper was our first dog (year and a half old yellow lab) and we loved her deeply. After the sting and subsequent reaction, we called Northwoods Animal Hospital's emergency line (Saturday). Dr. Hayman promptly returned our call and drove into the parking lot almost as fast as we did (we hit 90 mph on the way there). Dr. Hayman cared about our dog; he hustled to the hospital and fought to save her. Obviously, we'd have liked it to have turned out differently but her passing wasn't due to any lack of care, knowledge, or effort. This is a heavy review from a heartbroken guy but five stars and more is deserved.

A couple of our hounds played a little too rough in the yard requiring one of our boys to have a laceration repaired yesterday. I called on my way in to notify them of my arrival, and the receptionist pleasantly and efficiently gathered some basic info from me as we were first time clients. Dr. Hayman was very prompt and efficiently treated my boy. He and the vet tech exhibited very good bedside manners, which I think is important as they are "treating" both the pet and the pet parent. :-

While camping in the month of July, we endured 98 degree heat. My door dog Duncan was really suffering, and all my family wanted to do is go into town and sit in some air conditioning. WE decided to try to find a overnight stay for Duncan to cool down and be safe. I called Northwoods Animal Hospital and they were happy to take him in. The overnight stay was only $20.00!
That was super cheap and we were happy! We also had him get a bath and that was around the same price. He was one happy doggy when we picked him up the next day and we thanked everyone that worked there. I can see us using them again down the road.

Northwoods is a friendly place; Katie loves coming here. She gets her heartworm test and Lyme and Bortadella vacs as well. I board her a couple of times a summer and never worry about her well being. The price is right as well, under $14/night. They have recently made a handy website for checking your pet's health history, making appointments, etc. If you need a vet in the Minocqua area, try Northwoods Animal Hospital.
