Third vet is the charm: My 14 year old, 60 pound female mixed dog had a swollen mammary gland (I thought). 1st vet - nothing to worry about - no test needed; 2nd vet - She has a 50/50 chance of having breast cancer. Bloodwork would not tell us anything she needs surgery NOW! Perhaps, chemo. Of course, this diagnosis freaked me out. I was upset - he told me to come back in 3 months when I wasn't so "emotional" (yes, he really said that).
Since I agreed to have her checked again in 3 months - I kept my word and took her to the 3rd vet - Kingman Animal Hospital - the vet said: Lucy is obviously in pain, I don't think her problem is her gland - there is a tumor but it's not attached to anything - let's do some bloodwork to see what might be going on. Finally! Bloodwork! I agreed to X rays, too, to get the full picture.
The issue - an enlarged liver and arthritis. Liver meds, pain meds. Done. Lucy is SO MUCH BETTER. I won't need to take my girl to a 4th vet. My search is over. Thank you, Kingman Animal Hospital! PS: The staff there is great! Friendly, efficient and EMPATHETIC. PPS: I asked the vet if we needed to do something about the loose skin around her mammary gland - she said - We can think about it later - but, it's not necessary now.

Front Staff is very friendly and welcoming. Technicians are easygoing with pets that might not be overly friendly. They take their time. The Doctors are nice, down home, friendly. Overall the hospital reminds me of my previous vet clinic that myself and family have used for over 30yrs, which when I relocated a year ago, I visited each clinic within Kingman and chose them because of the likeness to my old vet clinic. So far, I'm not disappointed.

We adopted a dog from local Animal Shelter, our regular vet was too booked to see him, we didn't want to wait because he kept licking his paw and we thought something was wrong. When making the appointment we stated we had a free visit from the shelter but he did have something else going on. We were told that anything above the wellness exam we would have to cover, which we are OK with.
Upon arriving for the appointment, we reiterated that we understand the wellness exam was free, anything above that we would pay, she said yes. We go in exam room, check him, they suggest blood work and he did have some skin rash on his paws. Will get lab results in a day and got antibiotics for that. When we go to check out they are telling us that we have to pay for a full exam.
I explain we already checked when we called, this is what they told us, the girl who made the appointment was there and said yes this is what she said. They check with the manager and she decides to give us a 20% discount on the exam. There are so many people in the office, we pay it, of course over $400, do not cause a scene. Facebook messenger the animal hospital when I get home, they are sorry for the miscommunication and will counsel their staff.
They knew from the beginning of making the appointment, that this wasn't going to be a wellness visit, per their policy and they were going to be charging us. We reply, cause there wasn't any miscommunication on our part, but still no response. It's not about the money, it's about how many other people that adopt, get a free visit and then they charge for the exam.

Huge kudos to the whole staff. Caring, loving and respectful. I was there to have my fur baby put down. Not easy and I was a wreck. However, their caring staff walked me through each step. The vet was kind and spoke gently when explaining the procedure he would be doing. They had a special room for us to be in. A few days later, I received a rainbow bridge card that the whole staff had signed. I will be giving high praises to there office.
