I called on Saturday morning (6/4) to inquire about euthanasia for my elderly cat. They made the whole experience as positive as one can regarding the situation. I called about 10am, explaining I could come in after I get off work (which is unpredictable at times) and then called again around 5:30pm to tell them I can be there in an hour. I arrived, they got me and my cat in their special room and told me to take all the time I needed.
The staff is seriously amazing, compassionate, and very attentive. No one wants to have to put down an animal, but if you have to the entire staff is very well-equipped to handle the emotions a pet owner is dealing with while they say goodbye. I had a great experience with them in this instance, and that is why I'll be bringing my kitties to then when the time is needed for shots and to be fixed.
If they are that amazing for one of the worst things one can be at the vet for, then I imagine they are fantastic in much happier situations. thanks everyone for the work you do.

My dad, boyfriend & I had to take my family dog that I've had since I was 9 in there for euthanasia. They made the experience SO easy & comforting. They have beautiful comfort rooms for this purpose with mats on the ground with a blanket to keep your pet comfortable, there was even a little fireplace heater in the room. They let us stay with her as long as we needed before & after she crossed the rainbow Bridge.
We also are able to get her cremated through them, & they will be doing a ceramic paw print fpr us as well! Thank you SO much to the canyon employees who were there for us late last night! If you want a calm & loving environment for your pet to cross, I would 10/10 recommend Canyon Pet Hospital!

I've waited 365 days to write this review. It was May 26 of 2021 when I came in to Canyon Pet Hospital with my 10 month old kitten in critical condition- difficulty breathing. After the vet examined her, the vet came back to tell my cat was drowning from the inside out as fluid was filling her lungs because of what was likely a bad heart. After showing me a proposal of the estimated cost to hold her overnight with oxygen, pain medications and treatments (that summed to roughly $3K) I told them it something I could not afford.
Next the vet (whom I will respectfully not name) suggested euthanasia, that there was a good chance that I could pay for the oxygen and other treatments and she was still likely to die in the next couple days regardless because she was already too far along. The vet tried to be understanding while also trying to pressure me into euthanizing my kitty by saying "you'd be doing her one final favor." I was in utter shock and had no idea what the best thing to do was, I was moments away from allowing this vet to take my cats life. but something inside me knew it wasn't her time to go.
So I took her home where she survived the night and the next day. When speaking to the vet over the phone in the post visit check-up call they made, I had explained how my kitty's condition altered some and that my kitty was ready to give up on life so easily. It was only then that the vet suggested an oral pill that she could take daily for only $12 every 3 months that would help remove the fluid from her lungs and help her breath.
Something the vet mentioned was not an option she had given me previously when I was there in office because the vet thought that my cat was in too critical condition and wasn't going to make it overnight. Canyon Pet Hospital is a group of MONEY GRABBERS that don't actually care for the well being of your pet. The vets there would have rather have watched my cat die and me suffer than even suggest the cheaper option available to us.
After that I sought out a NEW VET that has been tremendous to our family (Harmony Holistic in Prescott, they're the best!) and it has been 365 days and my kitty is still alive today, NO THANKS TO CANYON PET! Get a second opinion before listening to anyone in this office! It could mean the life of your pet.

Sterling care and service. This is a top shelf hospital in my experience. Better than any I've found, even in Phoenix. The staff are compassionate, knowledgeable, and engaged with their customers and customers' pets. While there with my St Bernard, they took exquisite care of her. In the days following, veterinarian kept frequent contact.

Our pets have been clients for over 10 years, and they've always been very accommodating and understanding, even during late night emergencies. Everyone was incredibly kind and supportive when our Spartan passed not long ago, giving us options we didn't think to ask. We're extremely grateful to have our keepsakes. Later, we even received a rose from them, it was sweet coming home to a little surprise in his memory. Can't imagine going anywhere else.

I've been here a few times now for routine things for my dog (vaccinations, wellness checks). Overall they're alright, but each time I've come here I'd leave slightly annoyed about something. Either some one was rude to me, the wait was really long, or my dog ended up getting a booster he doesn't need for an additional 8 months (realized this once I got home; didn't think I'd need to look into this beforehand myself). Still waiting on that perfect visit where everything goes smoothly and I leave happy as a clam, but I've got no major complaints.

Canyon pet is a great (although expensive) choice if your pet is healthy. However, once our pet experienced a medical emergency we proceeded to spend thousands of dollars over the span of two weeks. We never found out what was wrong with her, potentially because they had a different vet see her each of the three visits. It felt like starting over each time Canyon Pet sent a new vet to see her.
It also seemed like they didn't even take the time to look over her chart before entering the exam room, based on the very basic questions they asked about her background and symptoms. Canyon Pet finally recommended we either euthanize or go to a small animal specialist in Phoenix. The same day we received this terrible news, we were also told they longer offered a military discount as of THAT DAY.
While 10% may not seem like a lot, it makes a huge difference when your vet bills add up to thousands of dollars. They could not have chosen a better time to kick us while we were down and make my veteran fiance feel even more uncomfortable and embarrassed to be asking for that small benefit. We had been going to Canyon Pet for two years. We have since changed vets (Midtown Animal Clinic, I could not recommend them enough) and the new vet was able to save our baby girl.
The treatments that they used to save her were the two that Canyon Pet told us not to pursue since it could "interfere with the small animal specialists diagnosis." They would have had us spend thousands more and cause extreme stress to our sick pet by bringing her to Phoenix and admitting her to a hospital rather than do the simple treatments that Midtown used to save her. I think Canyon Pet does their best, but I hope they start prioritizing animal welfare over making money and over-booking appointments.

We have been taking our dogs here for years, recommending them to everyone. We figured the unusually high prices were offset by great service. I can no longer recommend them, however. First, they quit offering boarding services. Prices continued to increase. They became rude about not allowing veteran spouses to use the veteran discount, and now have quit offering a veteran discount at all.
After recommending teeth cleaning for our dogs, they used to give us a 10% coupon as an incentive to do so. That program has been discontinued.for a $700-$1400 treatment each! In our local newspaper "Best of Flagstaff", this business is not listed in the top 3, so we will be looking elsewhere after many years of loyal business.

Canyon Pet Hospital will do a great job of checking/healing your pet. The biggest downfall to going to Canyon Pet Hospital is that the likelihood you will be able to get your pet in is slim, and you will pay an enormous amount of money to do so. Your pet might die from a snake bite? They won't even treat your animal as it's suffering on the lobby floor unless you can pay $450 minimum.
Your pet is told to come back in two weeks to do a check up on a life threatening condition? You'll be scheduled for the "emergency list" which is ANY time after 5pm, if they can see you. and you'll pay more to do so. When you do manage to get an appointment? Odds are you'll show up on time, and be told when you show up that you'll have to wait an extra 15 minutes, but you won't actually be seen for an hour.
They also stopped giving Veterans Discount because they can't consistently check ID, so they blame it on their other customers (not that that is a huge deal compared to everything else, but it should give a better picture of how poorly they run the office). Bottom line: The vets are okay. The cost, efficiency, timeliness, respect for your time, and urgency in urgent situations is VERY poor.
My recommendation to any current and future client is to go look up the "Best of Flag 2021" list and go to those vet hospitals instead, because this one didn't make the cut for good reason.

My friend brought her elderly cat to Canyon Pet Hospital for an emergency visit Monday evening. Valerie, her pet, was too ill to tolerate much diagnostic work and ended up passing away in my friends arms. The veterinarian, Karin, and the technician who helped with Valerie's passing, Koreanna, were both incredibly kind and sensitive. They facilitated gentle and through care and a respectful passing, which was not easy given Valerie's fragility. Their communication was excellent and the facility is clean, comfortable and professional. I highly recommend Canyon Pet Hospital and Dr. Karin Sorgaard.

They told me I'd have to pay $75 for a wellness check just to get my dog his vaccines, you can't skip/decline this either. Many other places in flagstaff to get this done without paying an extra $75 on top of the price of vaccinations. Makes it feel like this place only cares about money and not the well-being of your pet.

Our family is extremely grateful for a very humane, kind, and affordable euthanasia situation for a beloved kitty who just could not wait for a regular office hours visit. They put us on a waiting list, texted us to come in when it was almost our turn, offered a very comforting space and lots of respectful options. It was efficient and loving and ~$160 at 9pm on a Sunday night.
The other Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Center was going to charge $420, which would include a required exam for a kitty who was very clearly dying. Thank you, Canyon Pet, for making a terrible time as easy as you could.

I'm visiting Arizona and while at the Grand Canyon my doggo grazed a cactus buried in the snow. We looked up some vet clinics in Flagstaff where we are staying, and found this one. The staff was excellent to deal with, and the facilities are clean. Since we are traveling the staff did what they could to accommodate us, and even got us an early opening the next day.
They had to put our dog to sleep so that they could remove the spines from his paw, no problems. They had us come in the next day to remove the bandage, and that was that. The out of pocket price (we don't have insurance yet) was surprisingly reasonable too. Thank you for the awesome service!

Canyon pet hospital does not care about their patients or the owners. They care only about money. The receptionists are rude and abrasive, the vet we had is the same (dr demuth) cold and callous. Giving no after care instructions. Office manager is belittling and very abrasive, she was overheard yelling at the receptionists and instructing them not to give earliest appointments but to offer only urgent care appointments with an additional $150 attached, even if they have openings. Never an appointment available, hidden fees and costs unexplained.

Brought our two pups in for wellness exam and shots. The staff and Dr were friendly and great with the pups. We were in and out quickly. We've been here a few times. The last time was when one of the pups had an encounter with a porcupine. It was very traumatic for the pup but the Dr and staff took great care of her. We appreciate their professionalism and recommend this office.

I have been following Dr. Gill since before he got his practice. He is by far the best favorite veterinarian I've ever had. I have six dogs and two cats. He has been my veterinarian for the last I would say 15 years. He's kind caring and knows what he's doing When it come to your animals Baby's you can trust him. He doesn't overcharge and do unnecessary test he's honest and trustworthy thank you Dr. Gill for all the Wonderful years of service for me and my fur babies. Sincerely Suzy Hampton

Our dog Mandy was seriously ill, but we didn't have a vet. I called Canyon Pet Hospital and made an appointment not really sure of the vets there, I had gone by reviews I read that were just stellar. First, the hospital is pristine, with partioned waiting areas. Mandy was seen by Dr. Kim McGill. I cannot praise her demeanor and approach to our sick dog enough.
She was gentle, kind, and very aware of Mandy's fear and trepidation. Dr. McGill sat on the floor with Mandy, speaking softly, easing Mandy's tension. She recommended tests and potential treatments, then gave me the space to call my son to let him know what was going on. Once we agreed to what the Dr. recommended, they took Mandy for tests, she was diagnosed with a terminal condition. Dr. McGill recommended options, once my son and I agreed what we felt was best, Dr. McGill's assistant prepared us for what would come next.
Unfortunately Mandy had to be put to sleep, but I couldn't have had a better experience. They offered a comfort room, which was peaceful and isolated so that my last moments with our dog were as stress free as possible. Dr. McGill kindly explained each step before the process began, it was a peaceful end for Mandy. A couple of weeks after Mandy passed away, I got a card with a rose and a lovely written note from Dr. McGill. I would highly recommend Canyon Pet Hospital, it is the ideal environment for any issues with your pets. They are wonderful.

Do not take your loved pets to this corporate facility! We have spent thousands of dollars bringing our pets to this facility, mostly just because of their convenience, late hours, and walk in services, but time and time again they disappoint us. Finally, I'm listening to my husband and will never bring them back again. The first major red flag was bringing our 15 yo dog in for urine incontinence in which they did something wrong with a procedure and she couldn't move.
We ended up having to put her down at the clinic that day! If she hadn't been so old already we would have sued them. Then today, trying to get refills for our 14 yo dog who can barely walk anymore won't be done unless we bring him in to discuss 'other options', again! We thought we had already worked out a medication regimen for him with the last vet!
The meds seem to be helping his pain and allergies and we just want him on them a bit longer till we put him down. We were even given refills on these RX's already by the prior vet, but they won't even fill them! Why? Because the vet working there today hasn't read his chart or has any idea of the care the prior vet gave him! This is a corporate facility where the vets do not communicate at all with each other or really care about your pet.
They just do the text book care to bring you back in again and again to make money. Do not waste your precious animals time. There are many other smaller, more caring offices in Flagstaff you can bring your pets to.

If there was a zero star I would use it. Their system of receiving emergencies after 5 pm by putting your pet on a wait list is just a disrespectful way to make you believe you will be seen. They send a text saying your pet will be seen soon and when you get here they keep admitting other pets for surgery and after 3 hours still have the nerve to tell you that is up to you to wait or leave. Woman if my dog was not in excruciating pain and stress I would leave! Starting to look for another vet after this one!

I can't say enough good things about Canyon Pet Hospital. When it was time to say goodbye to my pup the whole staff was so wonderful and comforting; we had the most peaceful experience. The room we were in was beautiful and quiet, and we were given as much time as we needed to say goodbye. The care they take in returning pet ashes is incredible; I felt so loved and I know my sweet dog was taken care of in the best way possible. If I have another furry friend in the future I will be taking them to Canyon Pet for their every need!

I cannot say enough about this veterinarian hospital. We were in Flag when my dog got very sick. I took her into Canyon and the service and the vets were everything! They took care of Zooey (my dog) like she was a regular there- not a first timer. They quickly diagnosed her and even after we left they called to check in and see what questions I may have, . I recommended anyone with a pet to this vet. The staff is caring and loving and everything you want for your pet.
