Lovable ~2 y/o Bonnie came to us from a friendly colony of cats. This pretty momma is affectionate, curious, and friendly! She can be playful, and always wants to say hi. Bonnie has lived with other cats, and would likely adjust to a friendly dog or cat-savvy children. Bonnie is available to meet, but needs. Sweet Ziva is about 5 years old and came to us because her owner could no longer care for her. This girl is said to be good with dogs, cats (she will chase though) and kids! We do recommend that she go with kids over 8 due to her energy level.
Services
Harvest Hills Animal Shelter is a non-profit organization which contracts with 19 towns in Western Maine to accept neglected, stray, and abandoned cats and dogs. These animals are brought in by the towns' animal control officers. When space is available, Harvest Hills also accepts owner surrendered animals from all surrounding communities in Maine and New Hampshire and will assist other shelters by providing a safe place for adoptable animals that would otherwise be euthanized, or did not fit another shelters admission policies.
Adoptions are done on a first come, first serve basis with APPROVED applications only. If you are considering adoption, it is suggested you have your application pre-approved so that there is no waiting period. If an animal you are interested in is listed as "Not Ready" or "Adoption Pending" we still recommend filling out an application.

Located next door to the shelter, all of the proceeds from donated goods go directly to help feed the animals at the shelter. Whether you are donating unwanted items or making a purchase, you are helping to support the homeless animals. You'll find new merchandise daily! If you would like to donate antique, vintage, or items you think are of more value than a typical thrift store, please contact us!

Watch out, the hours posted are old. Now closed Sun and Mon. Hate checking online to make sure they're open, driving all the way over there after promising to buy family breakfast to make it a worthwhile trip, then get there and the shop is closed. Manager, you need to take care of this. Posting hours is important and should not be neglected. As for the thrift store, it's great. Just wsh they are open Sundays and animals could be visited.

From out of town and stopped in today to visit the animal shelter and say hi to the kitties. The kitties are so close to the dogs barking in cages it must be horrific for them. The short dark hair staff member was incredibly disrespectful and had the most repulsive customer service skill ive ever witnessed in my entire life. People working with animals should be friendly.
You should adopt the cats from here so they dont have to be surrounded by her terrible energy or barking dogs, 5 ft from them. This place was literally so sad. Save the animals from miserable staff.

Harvest Hills is the best animal shelter. The staff is so compassionate and kind. They do such a wonderful job with care of the animals at the shelter. My dog, Sophie came from there was she was just 8 weeks old and now she is almost 13 years old. She is my best friend. I am so grateful for everything they do to help all of the homeless animals.
