Rodney and Barbara Mack began Diamond Brook Kennel in 1982. Rod left teaching high school and completing a Master's +45 program to "go to the dogs". His passion for training dogs needed to be supplemented and a complete immersion in the dog business was the answer. Barb was a buyer in a large department store and began her journey in support of her husband, her artistic eye, as well as her love of pets complemented this endeavor perfectly. When the reponsibility of becoming DBK's head groomer was thrust upon her, she hired a 20 year veteran of grooming and began her new career.
Services
The owners and staff at Diamond Brook Kennel are dedicated to making our facility your pets "home away from home". We began our pet care business with a passion for dogs. As this developed, our endeavor was to provide the best possible pet boarding, grooming and training facility in New England at the most reasonable price and still make a living.
Diamond Brook Kennel offers the ultimate in clean, fresh country air living for your pet. If you are vacationing, your pet should vacation also. Your pet receives the care that our own pets deserve and get. Although we are large enough to offer 24 hour service to the animals, we are small enough to see to it that your pet gets the individual attention that he or she desire.
We have always been known for grooming of all breeds. Recently we have limited grooming of some of the extra large breeds, and are no longer grooming cats. Many breeds require styling, such as poodles and terriers that require an artistic touch. This takes skilled practice, and an artistic eye. For most double coated breeds, we believe the "hard way is the best way".
We sincerely believe that trained dogs are happier dogs. Dogs like things black and white, they like rules and pack leadership. They are also much more enjoyable pets with a stronger attachment to their owners (pack). Training should begin when the puppy is about 7 weeks old. Formal dog training classes can begin as young as 4 months, usually 6 months is a safe time for all dogs.

I thought I did everything right before trusting this kennel. Met them, toured the kennel, tried an overnight stay. Was told she did fine, no problems. Went on our trip even called midweek. Told she was doing great. Got a call two days later that our dog had a hot spot on her neck. Long story short, found out they put a bark collar on her to tight.
They did not have my permission and this was never discussed! Ever! We left our trip early to come home. They admitted they should not have done this, but was told they usually do for barking dogs! We had to do an emergency vet the next morning as this was much worse then we could see the first day. Took her over a week to even get close to the dog she was!
I did not pay them and they did pay her vet bill and called to check on her. They told me they were going to retire in a few months! They have not and does not look like that is the plan now! So I decided to write the review! Picture attached! Do not use this kennel!

I was visiting my son who had just moved to the area and made it into a 2 week road trip with my dog. Needed to board my baby for the weekend and I'm pretty sure I was more traumatized than he was. They were so amazing and put my mind at ease by taking excellent care him so I could spend quality time with my other baby :

Amazing place that saved our dogs life! The owners are so kind and caring and really look after your dog like it is their own. After leaving our dogs for the first time, one got sick. The owner called our vet who said that it was just stress. She followed her cut and contacted her personal vet and found out he was actually sick. She took such good care of him after, that the next time they went he became very protective of her. They love this place and we do as well!

Brought my dogs here when they were pups to be groomed. The owner yelled at my dogs & when she brought them out to me she yanked on my male dogs leash so hard that he yelped. There was no need for it. I looked up on Diamond Brook Kennels & found they had hurt a dog prior to me bringing my pups to them. I will never bring my fur babies to them again. Look up on them & you'll never bring your fur kids to them!

I love this place. I I boarded my two labs there for two nights and my dogs came back calm, happy, and remarkably freshly smelling and clean. They even washed the dog bed. The owners are very professional and and genuinely nice. The kennel is extremely clean and fairly busy. After using various kennels in southern vermont over the last 2 decades, this is the best one that I have used.

I had my (then) one year old Lab trained at Diamond brook years ago. I did not realize when I dropped her off that she would b be subjected to "electronic" force training. She is now 9 and still cowers frantically when she hears beeping (think smoke alarm battery dying, etc.) I am so sorry that I ever put her through that torture. If you are thinking about Diamond Brook for training THINK TWICE, for your dogs sake.
