Services
The Orange County Humane Society strives to provide safe refuge for lost and unwanted animals for the city of Garden Grove. Our shelter's goal is to find a permanent, loving home for all of our pets and to provide rehabilitation whenever possible. The Orange County Humane Society (OCHS) is dedicated to the protection of abused, unwanted, neglected and under-appreciated animals. We make every effort to nourish the starved, nurse the sick, accept the unwanted, heal the wounded and endear the abandoned.
A kitten lost and alone, abandoned by its mother. A missing dog wandering along the road, sad it had wandered so far from home. An abandoned cat left in what it called home, deserted by its owner. An untrained dog forgotten in the backyard, with no one to play or pet it, its family inside, no longer wanting the grown dog, they once loved when it was a puppy.
Our shelter has been in our community for over 50 years. Through the years, and the wear and tear of housing animals, it has become run down and old. That doesn't mean that our care and procedures are too! Our animals are provided with the utmost care and treatment we can provide to them. Nonetheless, we sometimes hear complaints from people regarding our facility and our procedures.
There are many reasons a family can no longer care for a pet: a move, allergies, or a perceived behavioral problem. Whatever the reason, the Orange County Humane Society maybe pets best chances for a new permanent home for these relinquished pets. Unfortunately intake of pets depends on space availability.

My parents found a stray dog and decided to take her into our home and get her vaccinated while trying to figure out who the owners were. After a couple of months of failed attempts, they had no choice but to give her up. They went to OCHS and the Caucasian lady with arm tattoos was extremely rude to my parents. After prompting them with questions, which they answered, she told them to take the dog to the shelter.
My dad said he didn't want to take the dog to the shelter in fear that they would euthanize her, to which the lady replied "Take that as a lesson learned". After that callous and snarky remark, my dad commented on her rudeness and lack of customer service. She then stated that she couldn't take the dog in anyway because they were at full capacity.
My thinking is if that were the case, why ask a barrage of questions and waste my parents time if the answer was going to be no in the first place? Overall, the experience was far from pleasant - I'm disappointed in the way my parents were treated and spoken to. I hope OCHS will be able to address and improve on their customer service skills.

These people wouldn't know the words "CUSTOMER SERVICE " if it bit them in the face! The lady with long black hair was rude, less than helpful and told us that if we wanted to adopt a dog we should have read the instructions on the front door. She insisted we had to go to their website for any information. The website was extremely difficult to navigate so I called to ask a couple of questions and she refused to help me and referred back to there website. Shame on the City Grove for contracting with this facility. My heart breaks for all the animals that end up there

This shelter is very sad. No one answers ever, voicemail is full. I've tried to save Nino who was caught by Animal Control. My neighbor gave him to me because she didn't want any trouble because he got out while they were moving furniture. I was hoping I could get nino out but I can't without any valid proof even though an airtag I bought him(and black collar) is on him.
I am very sad the original owners can't give me something in writing. This place charges $17 per day, $35 for un-neutered pets, 160 general fee $20 for registration, $45 for chipping I believe fees for no vaccines. The woman who answered my husband's call tried to pin him as rude and supposedly called her names but I doubt that. She just doesn't want Nino to be with us. Sounds like she wants to keep the airtag and Nino.
After i post this she's really not gonna work with me. That's fine keep telling me no. Im getting ready for Plutos surgery so I can't help Nino anymore. But to whoever is trying to adopt him PLEASE don't think about it just do it. He is a wonderful baby and just loves to love. Update! This place threw the airtag away instead of contacting me to pick it up. I added screenshots. These people are ridiculous!

We found this place by accident, meant to call another place but I'm glad we ended up here. Wow wonderful place, clean with friendly staff, service is great and they don't charge you arms and legs. Our 16 years old family cat was very sick so we needed a veterinarian to see her. Dr. Rodriguez saw our cat Asal. Although she told us the very hard reality but she also was so kind and compassionate. we give 10 stars to the doctor and staff. Dr. Made the journey for our beautiful Asal very easy and pleasant. Thank you doctor I'm loving memories of Asal who went to heaven on April 28 2021

Love the sweet animals & the people that work & volunteer here. Very clean. My only 2 critics: not being able to have a little open but gated "courtyard" type area (like other shelters) to have a dog off a leash, throw a ball & see other than leash excited behavior. And secondly, wanting to pass out "free love/hugs/throwing a ball/excercise", as in if you aren't able to adopt animal - the animals can't come out to play

I got my dog from this place! I saw the cutest kitties in my life in this place! I also saw many dogs that really need homes and are stressed out! Please help them by coming over to this Humane Society and adopt pets! This place has good service too! I also visited the hospital there to treat my dog since he had an ear infection. Luckily, with their efforts, he RECOVERED and is now a healthy dog! I highly recommend this place for people who really want a pet/pets! Please support the Humane Society!
