I am so happy to be writing this review. Our dog was very dog reactive due to issues he had in his previous home. It was almost impossible to take him for a walk when other dogs were around. We had such a great experience beginning with the evaluation. The trainers were so kind & informative. They never made you feel dumb or inferior. We were able to see first hand the kind of training they do and how it works.

While our dog was at K9 Basics, we were able to call and get updates whenever we wanted without feeling like we were bothering anyone. We were able to see pictures and videos of how our dog was doing. Fast forward to now, we just picked him up yesterday from the 3 week board and train program and we are so impressed with how well our dog did with the training.

He is now able to go on a walk with other dogs around and not react. He even had a couple friends at training! We never thought this would be possible. While we were picking our dog up we got to see firsthand how much he really loved being there. Everybody was just so kind to him and you could see in his demeanor that he was happy there. My husband & I are so happy with our decision to send our dog to K9 basics & feel this training will have changed our lives for the better & given our dog a better quality of life. I can't recommend this facility enough!

Hands DOWN, my time at K9 Basics is the best investment my family has made in a very long time! It was the staff's genuine LOVE and KNOWLEDGE of dogs that made my decision to enroll Cooper a no brainer! Cooper is my 11-month-old English Cream Retriever who was a rambunctious puppy. He was a puller, jumper, and a chaser. He attended the Day Training, and my family could NOT have been happier with the results.

The staff trained us, the owners, as well; a perfect combination! Their program(s) are well oiled machines, run by extremely experienced trainers and results are clear! I cannot say enough wonderful things about all my interactions at K9 Basics. All my encounters with staff members have, and continues to be, amazing! They provide clear and concise instructions.

Follow them and you will GET / SEE results! We put in time at home training Cooper every day. Cooper is my dog, and I am 100% responsible for his behavior. The incredible training K9 Basics has provided me, Cooper and my family are invaluable! I could not be prouder of my Cooper! THANK YOU, K9 Basics, thank you!

This review is about 4 years too late but k9 basics is the absolute best! I brought my dog here a few years ago for their board and train program and have been bringing my dog to their weekly training and socialization classes ever since. They have completely transformed my dog and helped me strengthen my bond with her! The trainers make you feel like family when you are there.

They truly care about the dogs and they make it an extremely enjoyable experience. I can't say enough good things about the company and more specifically about each individual trainer.

We brought home our Belgian Malinois Scar when he was 6 months old. He had all of the standard Maligator traits; high drive, reserved with humans, reactive with other dogs. He was the perfect high mileage trail running companion I had been looking for. I looked into K9 Basics on the recommendation of a friend but it wasn't cheap so I went with some lesser cost alternatives.

Roll forward two years and I had a dog I loved but I was worried about him around other dogs and he had started herding and nipping the friends of my 2 high school aged sons. I was afraid if I didn't get this behavior under control, something bad would happen. I returned to K9 basics with a 2 year old dog that was in need of help. On our first consultation I spoke with Arnold and he knew more about my breed than I did.

I enrolled Scar in the Day Training program and hoped for the best. I am writing this review now because K9 Basics has helped me and my family train Scar into the dog we have always wanted. K9 Basics does not train your dog. They train you to train your dog. After Day Training Program I began taking Scar to weekly training sessions. He was consistently improving.

Then I began taking Scar to training twice a week. Scar's confidence was building but more than that, my confidence was building on how to communicate with my dog. Every aspect of K9 Basics training classes, from the parking lot before class to the walk through the parking lot after class, was made to help me and my dog navigate distractions that we encounter every day.

We recently visited my youngest son at college in Washington D.C. Scar has been working hard and my son wanted to see his buddy. We took Scar to the national mall on a beautiful sunny day and all of his training combined to make him the perfect companion to tour all of our national monuments. We saw every distraction under the sun; electric scooters, other dogs, screaming kids, ducks, thousands of people, frisbees, footballs and practicing sports teams.

His training took over and we navigated it all; on leash and off leash. I want to thank Pam, Arnold, Lisa, Brian and all of the many trainers who have helped Scar and I with our training. K9 Basics is an outstanding option if you want a dog that you can take with you literally everywhere. They are not cheap but they are worth every single penny. A friend recently asked me when Scar would be done his training. I told him never. We are always working to improve and find our next adventure.

My dog Rio was tough to control and easily excitable puppy. He was trained in a very professional manner by Arnold and team. They did an amazing job to help me train him. Today he is four year old and he is a certified therapy dog and extremely well mannered. I never thought I could achieve what I did with him without their help. I'm finally a proud dog parent. Thanks to k-9 basics and their professionalism! Best dog training place in south Jersey. Highly recommended

My dog, Max, is currently still in training here, but I could not wait to post a fantastic review for them. I will update when he's completed. If anyone is in the position I was a few weeks ago, wondering if you're a terrible dog parent to be sending your dog away to strange place with strange people and concerned they'd just be absolutely miserable, I'm here to tell you I have zero regrets taking my dog here.

He was a rescue with a fear of strangers and I put my trust in their hands when they told me board and train would be best for him. I just got to visit him today and he seems so happy to be there. They treat him like family and do everything possible to make him comfortable. Arnold has been so patient with me, as I call almost every day wanting to know how Max is doing.

They don't try to rush you off the phone, they truly want to give you a thorough update of everything. Wouldn't trust my dogs with anyone else now. Update - Max is finished his training and I still am a raving fan of K9 basics. He unfortunately got sick, at no fault of K9 basics, and had to come home but everything was handled very professionally and they even called a couple times to check on how he was. Max was so excited to go back to training! My dog who was leash reactive to dogs and strangers just finished his first group class with zero issues besides the fact he was too happy to see the instructors again.

Wow, how disappointing. I called during the week to discuss the situation I'm having with my new rescue dog (extreme leash reactivity towards other dogs) and asked if the advanced socialization class would be right for him. I was told "absolutely, we've worked with many dogs like that" and to bring him on Saturday morning. We got there, and as expected, my dog was displaying extreme leash reactivity towards the other dogs present.

The owner came out to do an evaluation and we were turned down for the class due to his behavior. I'm completely understanding of that if it wasn't a good fit due to a miscommunication, but what really disappointed me was his attitude. When I asked him what he would recommend instead of the socialization class he pretty much laughed in my face while walking away and saying that I need to have control over my dog.

Clearly I'm there because I know that I need to have control over my dog in these situations and am looking for a way to work on it. I would have been very happy if he would have said something like "come for an evaluation another day" or "call the office later and we can discuss options" or "we have a different program that you can sign up for" but he pretty much just wanted nothing to do with us. I wish the experience had been better, but based on my interactions I absolutely cannot recommend this facility.

One year ago today my family and I brought home our Rottweiler puppy. DJ. Understanding the bread we knew we had to find an excellent trainer for him and us. He attended board and train and continues with open training sessions. K9 basics is committed to the dogs potential, recognizes potential behaviors concerns and how to correct it before it becomes an issue, they are also vested in educating the owner. I am more than please with our experience here. The owners, trainers, and staff at top notch. Would highly recommend K9 basics. Thank you for all that you do every day!

We brought our boxer Rocky to K9 basics at 5 1/2 months. Boxers are loving, adorable, high energy companions and we knew we would need help with the fundamentals. K9 basics did a good job working with Rocky, the most impactful training for me was the last Thursday class I attended as part of the program. I didn't catch the trainers name but he was awesome and worked with me, I couldn't be more grateful.

The weekend classes so far have been good and Rocky definitely has the foundation needed for us to continue working with him. Recently Rocky was sick and we called to let them know he wouldn't be at class for a week or so. I was blown away when I opened what I thought was a holiday card that turned out to be a get well card personally signed by the team. Talk about love for animals and appreciation for their clients. Rocky is feeling better and is excited to get back to class. Thank you K9

We brought our dog to a board-and-train program at K9 Basics after bringing him to a different board-and-train program. Since attending K9 Basics, Max is completely trained, the trainers continue to respond to our emails and texts, and Max loved all the staff. We will continue to use the follow-up classes. One negative is I don't love that the owners of the training program own a dog food company and push that food on clients without disclosing their affiliation.

Our GSD Mix, Brady, was extremely leash reactive and it was very difficult to walk him. Living in Philadelphia and exploring many options, we decided to go to Jersey and give K-9 basics a try. K-9 basics welcomed us with open arms and helped us decided on the Board & Train Program. Three weeks later Brady graduated and the change in behavior was night and day.

We can now communicate better with Brady and our bond is growing stronger. We also use Clif Wyck Kennels for boarding now and the kennel staff is always welcoming and accommodating. I highly recommend using K-9 basics and their kennels for your dogs needs. They have a wonderful daycare program and even do swimming lessons. Everyone is always very friendly and helpful with our questions or needs. So happy we found them and the drive is worth making our pup happy!

After my first experience with K-9 Basics I knew it was not the right place for me and my dog. I reached out to them looking for a trainer to partner with. They got back to me quickly offering a "free evaluation" of my dog and then would propose some options. They seemed responsive and coordinated and I was excited about working with an organized group.

When I arrived for my "free evaluation" appointment I found out that there were a dozen other owners & dogs there at the same time, for the same thing. What was advertised as an evaluation was really a 90 minute sales pitch. I was asked if my dog could stay quiet during the presentation and when she barked once a trainer took her away so the sales pitch could continue.

When my pup was returned she was wearing training e-collar and they demonstrated their "evaluation" by walking her (and every other dog) about 20 feet and zapping her. Every dog at this sales pitch was different and likely needed different training focus. Every dog owner got recommended the same thing. I am sure they adjust during training but this was not an evaluation and none of the owner's were asked if it was okay to put an e-collar on their dog. K-9 Basics website advertises that "The cost is determined by a free, full evaluation by professional trainers" but after a 5 second walk every owner was given the same plans/price sheet.

It was free, it was not a full evaluation. If your are up for a timeshare like sales pitch and you are okay with e-collar training or are looking to train a dog for protection work maybe this is place for you. I am experienced dog owner that was looking for expertise for a specific tune-up of a dog that is pretty good already so this was not for me.

Literally the best dog trainers in the area, if not the country. They are exceptionally kind, and have a method of training that is unmatched. We had huge problems training our little guy, cycling through trainers that just couldn't help us make progress (he's difficult). Within a WEEK, we saw real progress. I love this company and couldn't say enough good things about them. Truly!

K9 Basics is the only place you should take your dog/dogs for training. I have had many dogs & have gone to many training facilities. I was lucky enough a couple of years ago to have a friend recommend K9 Basics to me. K9 Basics is outstanding. Two of their trainers are retired Marine K9 Dog Trainers. They are the most outstanding trainers I have ever had.

Then there are the female trainers that go beyond the call of duty for everyone of their clients. Besides training at K9 Basics their also is their daycare, boarding & grooming facility called Cliff Wyck Farm. The owner Of K9 Basics was a police K9 trainer for 23 years. He runs the training. His wife Lisa was a police woman. She runs Cliff Wyck kennels.

They are both outstanding individuals that go out of their way to be sure everything runs smoothly. I recommend K9 Basic as the top facility for dogs in the area. I would never take my golden retriever any other place for training, daycare, boarding or grooming.

After positive experiences from friends and reviewing their website and seeing all the videos of the dogs off leash and not running away I decided to send two of my dogs there in the board and train program. They were there for around a month. One graduated and one did not and was supposed to return in July. They have you bring anyone in the house that will need to use the remote collars used for training to come for a training session at the end of the boarding.

During this session I received about a 1/2 hour total of truing for both dogs on how to work with them, then sent on my way. So when I get the dogs home, I realized I just wasted $6,000. I still could not walk the one dog with out being pulled and having to constantly shock her, and the other dog still didn't listen. Worst of all I had no idea how to actually correct the behaviors they were supposed to work on during this training because how can you train an owner in a half hour?

I took the dogs to the "classes" that were included with the board and train hoping this would help to get me the skills I needed to get my dogs in shape. Unfortunately, these classes turned out to be a frustrating waste of time as well. There were a lot more dogs than trainers which in turn decreased the amount of attention payed to each owner and dog in the class.

The trainers often had a hard time hiding their frustrations with the owners when the dogs were not doing as they wished. Instead of giving help many times the phrase "come on guys" was used as well as "everyone is having a bad day". After two months of these classes I stopped attending and tried to work with my dogs on my own as each class proved to be the same.

I finally decided it just was not worth my time and frustration to continue with this program and called to inform them I would not be brining my other dog back in July to finish her boarding training as I was not happy with the results from my dog that supposedly graduated. This was met with an "ummm ok so your not bringing her back?" No I am not. "Ok thanks".

Obviously no concern with my dissatisfaction.probably because they already had my $6,000. In my opinion save your money. I wish I investigated other trainers that actually stood by their results.

Your dog will come home well trained. You will be able to play with your dog off leash. That being said.since Nicole, former head trainer, departed the customer service has suffered. Brian is a great trainer but is arrogant and condescending. Just accept that is how it is going in and you will appreciate the experience much more. Execution in the kennel is hit or miss.

If your dog has specific needs be sure to follow-up. Prepare to be sold on the food products represented by K9 Basics. Again, you won't find a better training location. The owner is just a bit of a butt at times.

I love Clif Wyck Kennels and K9 Basics! I enrolled my 5-year old rescue dog in the Board & Train program, and it was exceptional. I feel I have much better control of my dog, and he has a better understanding of where he fits into our "pack." The trainers are all highly skilled professionals, and can turn any dog into a well-mannered companion in a matter of weeks.

You can tell that they all truly love what they do, and I am so appreciative of the love and attention they gave my dog. I have used other dog trainers in the past, and there is no comparison to the results that the K9 Basics training program produces. The staff at the kennel is also wonderful. The facility is extremely clean, and the dogs are always well-cared for.

This is the only dog training program and kennel I will ever use from now on! - Lori F. Cherry Hill, NJ Owner of Gordy, a good dog turned into a great dog thanks to K9 Basics!

Brian and his very experienced staff are amazing. I really can't say enough about how happy we are with their work with our dog, Greta. She is now an obedient, even tempered, loving dog and is doing so incredibly well. The facility is top-notch and immaculate. The commitment that they make to get your dog to it's potential is life-long. I'm so glad that we found K9Basics.

K9 Basics Dog Training and Nichole as their Head Trainer; did an outstanding job for the past three weeks working with our six month old Doberman. We were having specific behavior issues with him that led us to their facility upon recommendations. We must say they lived up to the recommendations we received and beyond. Not only did our Dobe learn to loose leash walk; he no longer lunges at us, no longer runs at other people; and he now listens to commands such as: come, place, sit, down, quiet, and many others.

They were excellent in training him and us as his human handlers when we picked him up. Going over every little nuisance about their program, the specifics, what we needed to key in on when we took him home, the follow up they provide, etc. The kennels there are extremely clean and we would highly recommend them for boarding as well. They are very interested in how your dog eats while there.

If there is an issue with your dogs food, they get in touch with you right away. They provide a doggy menu to choose items for while your dog is there, so they are not just eating kibble all the time. Very nice they are able to get frozen pup treats as well as a hot dog or hamburger. K9 takes pictures and videos to put on their website daily of the board & trains; so that you are able to keep in touch with your dogs progress and never be out of touch. Greatly appreciated by the Dog Mom & Dad! Answers to questions are quickly answered. I would highly recommend K9 Basics for anyone interested in quality training for their dog.

We had always gotten our dogs as 6-8 week puppies. This time we adopted a 5 month old shelter rescue, we named her Dakota. Well I must tell you we went through 1 year of total hell, with a completely stressed out household. It seemed Dakota was already set in her ways. She was very spiteful(if we turned our backs for 2 minutes she would steal and destroy something.

We walked around with open wounds and bruises from her biting and nipping(her way of playing). Our clothing had holes in them from her pulling on us. She ate our sofa, prescription eye glasses, clothes and anything she could get. She would jump on us and other people, and is so strong she would knock us over. We could not walk her as she would pull us off our feet. Dakota would beg and the table and steal off the counters.

We could not watch television as she would be pulling on our shoes. The final straw came when I went to take something away from her and she deliberately bit me. I had to go to the ER. We were done. We were ready to return her to the shelter, ( as a dog should never turn against the hand that feeds them). But we loved her. I called my veterinarian and she recommended Dakota be given another chance.

She suggested we take her to K-9 Basics. We took her for an evaluation and Brian assured us her behavior could be changed. We must say, we were very skeptical. However, after the first week of classes we had a brand new dog. People would come in and say "did they switch dogs when you weren't looking", "this is amazing". She started school the beginning of March, she if off leash and has been for a very long time.

She is now a very loving, affectionate, submissive obedient dog that listens to us and other people. She is a much happier dog and our home is totally stress free. Believe it or not, we are now considering getting another rescue. The K-9 Basics staff truly love their work and your dog. They make you feel like you have known them forever. Cost of K-9 Basics, cost of collar, result PRICELESS.
