Producing a top quality English Springer Spaniel gun dog and a household companion within the same dog has been the goal of Pine Shadows breeding program since 1976. Puppies and started dogs are available. Pine Shadows presents Daybreak, its own signature hunting estate. Eleven square miles of Dakota prairie traversed by over seven miles of the historic Elm River are explored in all-inclusive pheasant hunts.
Graduates of our gundog training have included field champions and master hunters, but more importantly, hundreds of lifetime companions that owners have been proud to bring into the field or blind.

For nearly thirty years Pine Shadows has been proving its English Springer Spaniels while guiding hunts in the Midwest prairie pothole region. Beginning the fall of 2010, Pine Shadows presented Daybreak, its own signature hunting estate. Daybreak has eleven square miles of Dakota Prairie traversed by seven and a half miles of the historic Elm River, an expanse offering perhaps some of the finest pheasant hunting terrain in North America. Certainly the foundation of your Daybreak hunting experience are the tremendous wingshooting grounds.
Here is a legacy of four decades of quality gundog training for all breeds. Graduates have included field champions and master hunters, but more importantly, hundreds of lifetime companions that owners have been proud to bring into the field or blind. If your dog is at Pine Shadows for an extended time, you are encouraged to attend training sessions as often as possible to learn how to best handle your dog. Perhaps you and your pup can schedule regular sessions with Morgan, once a week or more often.
Your pet thinks this is the second home. A multi-decade legacy of quality pet care and boarding continues at our kennels in Brainerd, Minnesota. Many of our direct care staff including our groomer have been attending to the needs of your pet for over twenty years. At Pine Shadows all of the apartments (kennel runs) are inside runs wth solid block walls, a solid Dutch door on one end and a wrought iron gate on the other. Each dog has 40 square feet of private living space with a raised sleeping area.

I didn't appreciate the scolding I received from a Pine Shadows' employee upon picking up my dog/puppy from his recent 6 night boarding stay at Pine Shadows Kennel. Never have I experienced (as a PAYING CUSTOMER) an employee to lecture me after paying for their services. The reason my family chose Pine Shadows kennel for our puppy's first borarding was because of their years of experience- I assumed they could handle an 8 month old puppy and clearly that was a mistake.
I was made to feel like I should apologize for my dogs behavior- which after talking with my veterinarian is pretty normal for a first time boarding of a puppy/dog. Unacceptable.

Pine Shadows is one of the most professional, knowledgeable, and welcoming businesses I have ever experienced. They have patiently educated me about the breed (Springer Spaniels) and how to train and care for them. They worked with us to identify the right dog for our household. This is a family and business with high standards, a commitment to excellence and to their communities.
Although our sweet Springer is already one, we visit as often as we can make the drive. We have boarded our pup with them, and Morgan has done some training for us. Cannot say enough good things about them.

Dawn has groomed our 2 dogs since we moved here in December of 2002. She has shared our sorrow at losing first Rowdy, then Captain, and most recently, Honey Bun. She has also shared our joy at welcoming fist Honey Bun, then Shadow and most recently, Lilli to our family. I can't imagine entrusting our fur babies to anyone else.

This is a wonderful business! We use Pine Shadows for both grooming and boarding, and we could not be happier with them! They do a fabulous job grooming our rare breed, always checking with us on particular needs or health conditions before grooming. They are outstanding when it comes to boarding. Our dog loves to go there and it doesn't matter if he's being groomed or spending a few nights.
He always lets out a couple of happy barks to let the staff know he's there, and they always come to greet him. I have nothing bad to say about.this place! Such a well run and friendly business.
