Not quite the average shelter! This is apparently the largest shelter* in the PNW and it is fantastic. We visited a couple times before finding our purrfect match and each time the shelter was impeccably clean and well there were lots of staff and volunteers working with the cats. We had to go through a couple steps to be allowed to adopt our boy so you can see they really try to find the best match for the cats.
They provided good resources as well so we didn't feel like we were on our own. Highly recommend this place and couldn't have nicer things to say about the staff! *cat only shelter

It felt like no one upstairs really cared unless I was adopting today. I planned to adopt in the near future but not immediately because of my family's allergies. There was no one else at the center except for staff. Basically I asked for a room with Mocha. We were vibing at her cage just before. The staff said, "yes we can do that. For sure. Are you adopting today?" And I replied, "no not today but I plan to once I move out.
My family is very allergic." The staff then said, "Oh. I see. Well we can let you see Mocha at her cage." I was pretty disappointed but figured the staff knew best and followed along. At Mocha's cage I heard, "we can't move the cats that much because they get stressed out." But once the cage was opened, Mocha tried getting out 3 times and didn't seem to want to stay in the cage. didn't seem very stressed to me.
She actually seemed MORE stressed when the staff just locked the cage after saying, "yeah I don't think she's going to be good today. This is the best we can do." At this point I was honestly pretty speechless and confused. I stayed a few more minutes to say bye to Mocha and then left. Maybe someone can correct me but I just felt like I got a cop out response because I wasn't ready to adopt literally THIS afternoon.
I've gone to other adoption clinics in the past and priority was always given to those looking to adopt, which is fine.but they never turned people away who wanted to meet with the cats and see which ones they liked the most. That's what it felt like today, to say the least. :/

Just adopted a kitten from CAT about 2 weeks ago, and it's been the most wonderful experience. My kitty got sick and they allowed me to take him in for a checkup with the shelter vet there on site, he just had a mild Upper Respiratory Infection and they gave me lots of medications and yummy wet foods for him to try to eat, as he wasn't having much of an appetite.
Every part of the experience was wonderful and pleasant. They were kind, thorough in treating my new kitty, and I wouldn't ever go anywhere else. Thank you Cat Adoption Team! (Monty is pictured here, snoozing on me.)

This will be the second cat I've gotten from CAT. I cannot speak highly enough of this place. I've seen adoption places where the cats look just miserable, this is NOT one of those places. You can tell that the cats here are expertly cared for, and that the staff genuinely loves all of the cats who come through that door. Every cat I've seen there looks to be very happy, and content while waiting for their forever home.
The staff are also very easy to work with, very patient, open to questions, and they know what they are talking about. Even though there are plenty of cat adoption places nearby me, and this one is about a half hour drive from me, this will always be my first choice for adoption.

The shelter was clean and the staff was friendly but the process of trying to adopt a cat has been a nightmare. First you need an appointment in order to come view the cats in the shelter, the appointment slots open up every Sunday and if your not quick then you'll miss your chance. The amount of cats on the website to choose from was ok, but it's not very accurately updated.
I had an appointment today that I took work off from to be able to come up, only to discover that the ONE cat I really wanted had already been adopted out (they were still available on the website though). Alright that's fine I can look at other cats while I'm there right? My only requirement was that the cat was at least a year old. I was told there were TWO cat in the shelter under that category.
Ok well I'm show this sweetie that I fell in love with, until the worker realized she wasn't a year she was only 8 month. Disappointing but alright. The had one other cat I could look at while I was there, and it was a cat that had already been returned to the shelter and the cat hissed at me multiple times. The only other cats they had were in surgery, so I guess Thursday is surgery day, wish I had known that.
Just not a fun experience and I left disappointed. And this has been the story for every other shelter in Oregon. I have applied from multiple cats online from this shelter as well and never had success because I think they forget to take the listings down. I'm not trying to be mean but I'm just trying to tell the truth that it's been very frustrating.

I had a great experience adopting and had a very kind and caring person help me with that process. We love our addition, a kitten we named Charlie. Unfortunately, Charlie was extremely sick when adopted (we had no idea) and had cost us far upward of $1,000 and we aren't even done treating her yet. She had advanced ringworm, giardia, and hook/round worms.
This has been a nightmare with another cat in the home and a 4 year old. It's been months since bringing her home and we still haven't been able to just let her "be" here. I love what cat adoption team does and their mission but I feel very uneasy about the fact that I had no idea I was adopting a very, very sick cat. If I had at least known-I could have wasted less having multiple vets trying to figure out what's wrong, and saved myself a little bit of money. She's worth every penny, as she is family, but I am a working mother and used every bit of savings on this.

Great experience. Kittens and cats are a first come first serve. I got Suellen from them a few days ago and she's such a great kitty. She is friendly nice and have had no issues with her. They take great care of the kitties here! If you're interested adopt and take home before someone else does! Thanks. Plus it is great that they come neutered spayed and upto date on all shots.
They even gave her a blanket and some toys and a bag of great quality cat food. You can really tell that they take really great care of the kitties here. I'm thankful for the experience and I'm thankful that they care more about the kitties than profit. They are trying to make a difference in the world for the kitties:

My wife, kids, and I have always been total animal lovers. And we have had many different types throughout the years. My wife has always had a special affection for cats and so along with our dogs we have always had several cats at any given time. Through chatting with friends my wife heard about the Cat Adoption Team on SW Galbreath Drive and then the opportunity arose so she began volunteering there.
What an amazing organization and facility! Everyone is so caring and truly gives their time, treasure, and talent from their hearts. If you are looking for that special little friend to adopt and share your life with, then CAT is the place to begin.

Great place to get a kitty. Or two! We have adopted two now and they have been the perfect additions to our family. My friend adopted three. The store is great because 100% of the money goes to support the shelter and care for the cats. The staff have always been super nice and helpful. We have never had to wait long to view a cat we were interested in and the addition process is quick and simple.

Adopted kittens twice, first one cost over 1000$ in medical bills with no answers on what was going on. Ears and fur on head were crusty and oozing puss. We had to return her because she was suffering so bad. Found out she had already been adopted out and returned before us. Second kitty had to go to emergency four days after adoption. She started sneezing and spiked a high fever, vet said she could die. Hopefully she will pull through with her antibiotics.
Our year old cat (not from Cat Adoption Team) is now infected and ill because of the new adoption. Back to the vet tomorrow :( I just think CAT needs to quarantine new arrivals and not push them into homes when they know they are sick. I found in the paperwork documented she was snsick three days before adoption. Irresponsible and rude of them.

I adopted my Russian Blue mix 10 years ago from CAT, and he has been my best buddy ever since. Yesterday we brought my mother in law here to find a kitten and she went home with a 10 week old tuxedo female, along with some accessories from their retail area. I love this place, and they clearly care about every cat that comes through the doors. When anyone asks me where to find a cat I always direct them here. Thank you for everything you do!

After reading some reviews, I thought I'd share my CAT experience. I adopted a year old kitty from them just about a week ago. I had placed a hold on her late September and came back the following business day to adopt. When I arrived, I was told that my little kitty had spiked a fever and had been taken off the adoption list until she improved health-wise.
Even though I was upset I couldn't bring my baby home, I was also very thankful that CAT wanted her in good health before sending her away. They extended my hold and let me know that they'd call when she was ready. A little over a week went by and I got a call saying she was off antibiotics and available for adoption. I drove there right after work and had a long, educational conversation with one of their adoption advisors.
The gal informed me that they offer vet assistance up to two weeks after adoption date and heavily encouraged me to sign up for pet insurance with free trial. After the helpful one-on-one, she sent me home with a folder filled with great info, a bag of kibble and my forever fur-baby. I don't believe in five-star reviews, because there is always room for improvement, but I certainly went away happy.
Please don't allow bad reviews to persuade you away from shelter adopting- the customer service shouldn't be why you're going. At the end of the day, almost all shelter kitties will gain health when they get home. Adoption agencies are like public schools- packed tight so sometimes the sick spreads. Thankfully, in my case, they were able to detect that my little girl was sick and handled it prior.

I've adopted two forever friends from this place. My most recent buddy is a fluffy teddy bear, Jasper. When I first saw this guy he was pacing inside of his little cage like a trapped lion. I walked up to him and he gave me 'the stare'. I instantly knew he was coming home with me. He likes his belly rubbed and talks if you say his name. Getting to the point, I recommend this place for anyone looking for a new addition to their home ^_^.

We found the most amazing cat here; we are so lucky! I went three times in a week to visit and the first time that I brought my kids, the woman seemed like she had never been around a kid and was grumpy and made me feel uncomfortable. Other than that experience. I couldn't be happier! Yes, they are definitely more than the humane society cost wise, but it was worth it.

I have to give all the love to the Cat Adoption Team! We had a very sweet kitty come to our front porch a couple months ago and never left since. We named it Turtle and was able to feed it twice a day but was unable to take it in due to our family already having our cat Lemmywinks. Needless to say there is always a way to help an animal in need if you reach out in your community.
We found out little turtle was an older kitty with a hernia that needs a surgery and cat adoption team happily took her in and will take care of her medical needs and find her a loving home. We are so grateful and are looking forward to updates on her surgery and her adoption journey.

We are so in love with the kitty we adopted yesterday, and very grateful to the exceptionally friendly staff for helping us give her a furever home. Within an hour of us introducing her to a 'safe space' room, she was very comfortable. She was clearly well taken care of the staff before she became a member of the family. Unfortunately, we were forced to dock a star for a clerical mishap.
We showed up two days ago at the time they told us to to bring her home, and after a lot of confusion, it turned out they made a scheduling error and we had to come back the next day. This might not be a big deal to some, but for us, taking off work early and driving 30 minutes away from home is a huge deal. Not to mention the extreme disappointment of having to leave empty handed, forgoing some pay for a few hours isn't easy at all. Having said that, the kitty is amazing, the staff is very nice, and I would definitely recommend this place to people looking to add a kitty to their home. Oregon Humane is great, sure, but the smaller shelters are a lot less competitive.

I am a volunteer at Cat Adoption Team. I have been volunteering here for a few months now and I have to say that it is a lovely place. The cats are truly loved and cared for here. Theres roaming/play rooms with tv's playing nature videos 24/7! The staff and volunteers are all very friendly and welcoming. They also keep the shelter extremely clean, which I feel is very important for the health of the cats, and its nice for guests and volunteers.
They are no kill. Run purely off donations and fundraising. Another thing that I really love is that they arent just trying to push cats out the door to find homes fast. They take the time to find the RIGHT home. When the timing is right to add another feline friend to our family I dont have far to look. ^-^

The best cat shelter in the area! I stumbled upon this shelter many years ago and have volunteered there ever since. I currently foster kittens but have also volunteered in the shelter too. They have many cats and kittens in foster and lots of cats during peak season. They take cats from local county shelters so they will get adopted. Cat Adoption Team is a no kill shelter. : Go visit if you've never been! Kitten HQ is straight through the lobby. Upstairs are adults in enclosures and rooms. They also have their own hospital and vets! Great place!
