Barkingham Palace

Recently boarded my puppy here and she had a great time and was very well cared for while I was away. They have a great covered outdoor play area and the staff listened to all of our instructions and cared for our puppy like the dog was their own. I definitely recommend Barkingham Palace to all my friends and family.

Pam gets 5 stars! She did a great job grooming my mini golden doodle-perfect lion cut! She was also incredibly kind about talking me through his mats and getting him mat-free! She's wonderful and Barkingham Palace is super lucky to have such a kind and awesome groomer in Pam!

Went on vacation for 10 days and boarded my two senior cats. 12 and 14 year olds. they took very good care of my cats and I could tell they were treated good. also had them trim there nails when I picked them up. I would recommend this business to board your pets. would use them again if needed.

Please board your pet with caution! We had to board our elderly beagle and 2 Havanese over a weekend. Our beagle was housed separately and came home with a lacerated nose and covered in her feces. Even though all 3 were properly immunized, they all got Kennel Cough. All 3 also came home with hemorrhage diarrhea even though they had their own food.

All of these things combined shows a lack of concern and proper sanitation procedures. I emailed them with my concerns and never heard back. Barkingham is no longer up to their precious high standards. We do not recommend boarding your pets here!

Ok. It gets worse. We picked up our dog from daycare and was told her collar was too tight. This was passed on to the dog trainer that brought our dog out from one of the morning staff. Our dog has a Martingale collar. And if you don't expand it all the way, it won't come off. That's the idea behind that type of collar. It won't go over the head then the leash is pulled on.

My wife showed the trainer how easy it comes off when expanded. He told her that what the guy said and left. No offer to explain to this person how a martingale collar works. They have an "I don't care attitude." So sad.

First time coming here. They took great care of our cat Oliver. They have a wonderful separate cat room, and seem to have employees that really care for the cats! It is nice to find a place that has a calm area where they won't be stressed and hear dogs barking all the time! They are a little pricey, but I never had to worry, and will definitely use them next time we travel

Left my two dogs here a 14 year old Springer and a 9 month old Aussie for 5 days. During the checkin process which was pretty extensive I left directions for feeding. One cup of dry mixed with 1-2 tablespoon of wet twice a day. After two days they called me to tell me my dogs were out of food?! I had left 5 pouches of wet food, a full bag of puppy food and a full canister of adult food.

When I called to ask what was going on they told me they dogs were almost out of wet food. Apparently they had totally ignored the directions that they had entered themselves into the notes on the computer. When I asked the attendant to read back to me the directions in the computer she read them back exactly as I had left them. They just completely ignored them and gave the dogs nothing but wet food for two days.

They seem to not have even been aware that I had also left two bags of dry food. Lazy and incompetent. Clearly whoever was caring for the dogs never bothered to read the notes. My impression is that they have too many dogs (they were fully booked) and not enough staff to properly care for them. I'll never leave my dogs here again as I'm sure they had diarrhea after nothing but wet food for two days and then nothing but dry (which I'm sure they wouldn't eat until starving) for the remaining 3 days.

One simple direction- one cup of dry and 1-2 tablespoons of wet- and they couldn't be bothered to read their own notes. Thank god I didn't leave any medications to be dispensed!

My dog Mackie has had several stays at Barkingham. Some last minute and some planned weeks in advance. The staff is great with my big boy who's not dog friendly, and they are very patient with him. When we walk in for drop off I hear "Hi Mackie", they know him. I'm so thankful to have his home away from home with those at Barkingham. For those complaining about the Sunday policy, it was always made very clear to me and when I make the reservations (even after the many visits we've had) they still go over it with me. If you say you didn't know, you weren't listening. Thank you!

Before and After pics posted. My 2 year old had a bad experience with a groomer and would not allow a groomer to even pet him. This place is wonderful, my lil guy is so happy now. We can see his EYES AGAIN The kindness and patience prevailed

We recently moved to the area and had dropped in a few different boarding facilities. It was barkingham palace that was great from the moment we walked in with no appointment. The staff at the front desk was so kind and personable. They went over their boarding policies in great detail and without having to ask, took us on a tour of their very clean boarding area and play ground.

We were so excited we finally found a place we'd be comfortable taking our babies too that we booked a daycare session immediately! Guinness and Bruno had such a great first time, we took them back two days later! Thank you Barkingham Palace!

I'd give negative stars if possible! This place is a joke, save your animals, DO NOT TAKE THEM HERE! My dogs do not go anywhere except for our fenced backyard bc I have 2 very young babies. When we took a family trip and boarded them here, they came home extremely ill and my one dog still has severe bronchitis from the kennel cough he contracted at this facility.

They do not care, they clearly do not check the animals (for vaccinations or physical illness) and they don't care if your animal is suffering from their negligence. All they will keep saying is, this isn't bc we were negligent, they can get sick anywhere. They should be ashamed of themselves! I've boarded my dogs throughout my adult life and never had such a negligent experience! I've never had my dogs come home sick or in any sort of bad condition. Also. When you explain that this is a problem you'd like addressed, they try to insult your intelligence! Don't waste your time or money! Save yourself and your pets!

If I could give 10 stars, I would. I took my 10 year old German Shepherd here for Mother's Day weekend. We have boarded her at her vets office for our past 3 trips and have come back to bleeding paws and a severely agitated dog. But at Barkingham, she was treated like a queen. And this is their normal routine. They took such great care of our baby.

We were able to look in on her with the camera system in her room. Everything was super clean. Bella usually doesn't like other dogs but they got her playing with other Shepherds, which we were extremely happy to hear. The thing about when we picked her up, she was really happy, not just to see us, it was almost like she didn't want to leave her new friends!

She got a bath as well and we noticed the beautiful job they did with the grooming. Everything about Barkingham was amazing and I would never think of bringing my dog anywhere else. They don't just treat them like dogs, they treat them like family

Pam is the best groomer there is! Love this place! PAM is the best groomer! I have not tried the other groomers/dog stylist/artist at this place of business but I do know that I have sent many people to Barkingham palace to Pam and they all love the results. I have been going to Pam for 6 years with all three of my dogs - always looks great and dogs never come home in a bad mood! Ask for Pam if you want perfection, professionalism and someone who cares about your babies!

5:30 hours for a grooming. Asked why the grooming took so long and was basically told if you don't like it, go elsewhere. I will gladly take my business elsewhere. Horrible customer service and dirty employees.

Took my dog here for a bath and basic grooming. Came back 4+ hours later and got a bunch of grief about 5 hour maximums; some employee already having left at 3:00 pm; and not having the right vet records on file. Not sure what any of this had to do with me, plus none of these "rules" were mentioned to me when I dropped the dog off. I experienced two of the reception staff having poor communication and "people" skills. Rude. (Tall blond woman and heavily tattooed woman.) ***** 5 stars for bath quality * 1 star for rude service Cannot recommend.

Despite using them before in the past, and not having an issue; there must be new staff or rules/regulations (well, more so a lack thereof) as Barkingham is not a friendly or safe environment. Upon picking my sweet puppy up after vacation, he was brought to us with massive raw and scabbed spots. We reached out to the owner and told her that our dogs did not experience a loving caring environment and we were told "we have too many dogs here to give yours individual attention, perhaps you should hire a pet sitter next time to come to your house and pet your dogs." So from the wise words of the owner, please do you and your fur babies a favor and use a different company.

I moved to Melbourne a few months ago and knew I needed to board my dog. My husband and I went and looked at a few places and Barkingham Palace by far was the best! The other places wanted us to make an appointment to visit but not Barkingham. We discussed my concerns and they made very valid suggestions to not only help with boarding but the separation for my pup.

The staff there were so caring, loving, attentive and supportive! Also, we got Getty a haircut on the day of departure absolutely perfect! I was able to view Getty on the live stream video and the staff were very caring to him knowing his personality of being scared and bashful! There is no doubt that this place is the BEST not only for Getty but the superb staff that work there! Thank you Again!

I was very disappointed in Barkingham. I have a Senior rescue with severe separation anxiety issues. I had to go to Greece for work on a turnaround. 1 day, 2 nights, and was very concerned about leaving my dog for the first time in unfamiliar surroundings, as I just recently moved to Melbourne. I put both my dog and my cat in the King 1 suite, which has a camera.

I was able to watch her a lot and was not happy with what I saw. There is no affection for the animals. None. When they leash them and unleash them, there is no pet behind the ears, nothing. Very cold. I am doing laundry today and washing all the blankets and towels I brought, only to find out they marked everything with my pet's names in PERMANENT marker, which ruined the blanket I brought. Julie apologized, but I will never return here.

I think maybe the non-refundable deposit may be a result of people finding out the original owners, who gave the place its great reputation, are no longer there? Just a guess. I will say they were quick to clean up accidents in the room, although the entire facility could be cleaner.

Boarded my dog here once. The price seemed reasonable for the amount of time we would be away. The accommodation themselves seem very nice. After I returned from vacation my dog had a major flea problem. I will never board a pet here again. He has never had fleas before.

Great place for dogs, but very unfriendly cancelation policy. We were unable to apply our $ 70.00 deposit for a future visit when we had to cancel (even with six weeks' notice). Growl.

My Aunt and Uncle bring their dog, Niki here every Wednesday for the day. She absolutely LOVES it! Niki gets so excited every morning when it's time to go. Once there she immediately looks for her doggie and human friends. When her time is up she doesn't want to leave. They take such great care of her

Left our golden retriever here over Christmas 2015. He says he really enjoyed the stay. He smelled great after the exit bath. We had him in training classes earlier.very well done. Price is very competitive for our area.

We have used this facility for daycare and Rosie seemed to enjoy her day. This is our first time boarding and the staff were very accommodating when we dropped her off.

Great attentive staff, great facility. We have small dogs and always board them here in the "kitchen" area. We have always had a good experience and the grooming services are great as well. We tried other places for boarding our dogs and always come back here; highly recommended.

Dogs stayed here for a few days while we moved into our new place. They took good care of our boys and were very friendly.

I will never use them again. I dropped my Pomeranian off with instruction about her meds. I told them that I already gave her a dose before I dropped her off and to give it to her as needed the next day. Well two hours into my trip they called me about my dog struggling with her breathing. My dog had to go to the emergency pet hospital and a $1000 later she was fine. Barkingham gave my dog an extra dose of her meds after I told them I gave her some that day. I ended up driving back that night missing my daughter's track meet. I don't know what I would have done if we would have flown some where and could not come back.

We love Barkingham Palace for our dog Izzy. She's a little hyper at times but sweet and they took to her right away. No need to explain anything when I call for a boarding reservation, only dates and a "thanks, see you (then)!" Our dog comes home, happy and "tired" every time! Any dog owner knows, a tired dog is a good dog :) I highly recommend Barkingham to anyone looking to board their dog (short term or long). The staff is great, the property is great, the rates are well priced. Thank you Barkingham Palace, from Izzy and her Humans!

We took our dog here while we were away on our honeymoon and will never use them again. Everything is extra (including playtime with other dogs) and boarding there is already more expensive than most local places. Our dog lost a lot of weight while he was there and the dogs do not get personalized attention. We also had to run back there after taking him home since they had forgotten to give us back some of his items.

The main area the dogs are kept (if you don't spring for the super expensive "suites") looks like a pound with rows and rows of chain link kennels. Unless you pay top dollar, you are getting bare bones treatment. We now take our dog to be boarded at our vet (Sarno Animal Hospital) where he gets all the attention he wants and for a much better deal. I was not impressed with Barkingham.
