Services
We began our facility buildout in September of 1990. We started on a shoestring budget with no clients, no money, drowning in major debt, all while welcoming the brand new addition of our fourth child to our family. Needless to say, we had our hands full! Carter Veterinary Medical Center was bred from Dr. David Carter's passion for educating the public about pet care.

That is why Carter Veterinary Medical Center's philosophy is to treat our furry patients as if they were our very own, with compassion combined with the most technologically advanced equipment and services currently available in the veterinary field.

Traveling is stressful enough as it is, but the constantly changing and confusing travel rules and restrictions regarding traveling with your fur babies just seems to add even more anxiety and unnecessary stress to pet owners. You'll see plenty of 5 star reviews, and I've had good experiences with Carter. However the last few experiences led me to make a change. Exp: Appointment at 8:00 am. Call to check up at 11:00 am. Not even looked at my dog yet. "sorry were busy" was the answer. A similar situation happened last time. Overall I suppose they are just too busy anymore. Carter knows his field that's for sure.

I lived in Carmel and I just adopted a 5 year old cat named Cleo, as soon as I brought her home I noticed something was wrong. I asked around to my family friends about a good vet. They all suggested Dr. Carter's. It was super easy to make an appointment and they were all very nice! I took her there and found out she had feline cat herpies. So sad.
They fixed her all up with some amazing medicine, low cost! I live now In Lafayette, IN. And I will continue and do continue to take my precious baby there! Would highly recommend!

Doc Carter has been a god send. In all my years of sharing my life with fur babies, I have never felt so trusting in his capability and caring of my babies. We found Carter Vet Clinic after a near fatal scare with our babys Heart Complications. His office ensured direct involvement with the only cardiologist in the area and was sure to do follow ups until he was stable.
He also took in our other baby not once, but several times for emergency care and gave us 7 wonderful weeks we would have not gotten with any other vet. She succumbed to complications today and the office handled her last minutes with class and professionalism. The little things like calling for follow ups and big things like trying when there seems to be little hope puts Doc Carter way above the rest. He is instrumental in his educational teachings to what is going on and is honest with expectations. I cannot praise him or his staff enough.

Dr. Carter is one of the kindest, most compassionate people I've ever met. His staff has been wonderful too. Our pets (dogs and cats) have been going to Dr. Carter and his associates for almost two decades. Though you have to plan ahead to get an appointment sometimes, a great doctor for your loved ones is worth it.

Louie (Bulldog) and Louie's dog Vinnie (our dog got a dog), both go to Carter Vet. They like visiting because of all the interesting smells. Vinnie got some shots recently and they really hurt, but, that's gonna hurt no matter where you go. Louie likes the treats at the counter. Overall, they both like the car ride the best. Plus, the people at Carter Vet really like animals and that makes all the difference. You are never rushed. Go here.
