Formed in 1996, Saint Francis Service Dogs is the largest service dog organization in Virginia and is proud to be accredited by Assistance Dogs International. Saint Francis places professionally trained service dogs to assist people with a wide range of disabilities, including autism, cerebral palsy, joint and/or muscular diseases, multiple sclerosis, brain injury, paralysis, rheumatoid arthritis, and many other conditions. It takes two years and tens of thousands of dollars to raise, train, and place one service dog.
For questions or additional information about Saint Francis Service Dogs contact us at info@saintfrancisdogs.org or call 540.342. Saint Francis Service Dogs was founded by Carol Willoughby and Sherri Spell and received its 501(c)(3) nonprofit status that year. Saint Francis hired an Executive Director and Training Director, transitioning from an all-volunteer organization to a professionally managed organization.
Saint Francis Service Dogs operates two key services, which support our mission of helping children and adults with disabilities to become more independent and self-sufficient through partnership with a professionally trained service dog. Service Dogs - Placing professionally trained service dogs with qualified partners is our primary goal.
We provide professionally trained dogs to people with physical or developmental disabilities in order to assist them in living a more independent and self-sufficient life. The people we serve may have autism, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy, rheumatoid arthritis, brain injuries, amputations, paralysis, or many other conditions.

This place is AMAZING and has touched the lives of so many! Our family has been so lucky to go on this journey with St Francis. We have had such a positive experience from beginning to end. We are so grateful for this extraordinary group of people who have dedicated their lives to helping place service dogs. If you are going down the road of getting a service dog you have found the absolute best place to go.
Everyone at St Francis truly has a love for dogs and helping people with disabilities. I cannot say thank you enough to everyone there for all their love and support during this experience!
